| Post subject: | Pari's Sprites; Journey Of A Beginner [UPDATED; More Trucy] |
So, Pari has finally decided to tackle sprite editing, oh noes. I started out with this basic re-edit of Trucy: This is the closest thing I can make to represent myself in sprite form, right now. This was made over an hour and a half in Photoshop. I've always liked magic, even wanting to be a magician when I was younger. The art form seems to be dead everywhere but Vegas, but when I heard about Trucy, I got giddy. I was so happy to see another magician in GS. So, I kept Trucy's uniform; I'm not advanced enough to tackle a body edit yet, though I do hope to eventually make a heart-shaped brooch for the front, once I'm good enough. :3 I also have curly hair, so I copied some of Lotta's hair to the base and recolored it so it matched. This is my first edit EVER, period, so I hope it's good. PLEASE don't be afraid to give me criticism and suggestions! They'll help me become better. :D EDIT: Added the transparent; I see I missed a few places. *goes to fix* EDIT 2: Fixed the hair a bit... hm. EDIT 3: Okay, transparent is finally edited correctly. I deleted the one with the while background. Now I'll do one with the hat on. :3 |

Looks great, and I love the colors! I think, though, that the hair on the left side (her right) could lose the dark outline between the bangs and the curly part, and then do the a darker line on the edge. I think it'll look more connected that way. Am I making sense, or am I just talking in circles? |

Lotta's hair is somewhat unique because that curled part I used to make the curls there has no outline. And I did ponder fixing the hair more, but my eyes got tired of looking at pixels. XD;; I know the glasses also need work; I tried to get something like what you used on your sprite, buuuut that didn't work. :3; |

To be honest, I worked on and off for a few months on my sprite because I got tired of working on it so much at one time. But I'm also lazy and spontaneous; that probably had a lot to do with it. XD You should try to take a look at all the game sprites with glasses--Kristoph, Adrian, Penny, Maggey, etc.--to help you get an idea of how the glasses are sprited. Just keep trying. You'll get it eventually.

Okay, two sprites now... Here's the first one I did with redone glasses: And here's the new one I did: Why am I doing Trucy so much? She was the easiest one for me to make. I promise I'll only do one more of me before I start doing another one of someone different. ... Okay, maybe two, lol. She's just so fun to edit. EDIT 1: Uh oh. *sighs and goes to fix* Stupid white space of doom. >< EDIT 2: Fixed! |

The glasses look a lot better, but I think you should try to "blend" the frames a little so they're not so... jagged looking. Does that make sense? Both of the poses look really cute, and the hair looks good. X3 |

You give such good advice; I should start calling you sensei! |

It's okay. You should take your time. You'll figure it out. I'm just glad my advice could help! Aw, you're making me blush. But if you really want to call me sensei, I guess I can't object. Hahaha.
