Anyway, I used 2 different techniques for the colouring. I used the one described in this tutorial for the bratworth and his table, and I used a default brush in Photoshop called "Chalk 60 pixels" with 'flow' set at 3% for the wall.
I did it all with my cheap-ass Wacom tablet

Hahaha, that happened to me for the whole time I've used Photoshop, I've lost hours of work because of that. Sometimes it just closes randomly, sometimes it shows me an error message. Re-installing helps alot though, now mine doesn't crash at all... yet.

Ahahahahah! I'm the exact same! XD I lost one too many drawings back in middle and high school, so now I've become a compulsive ctrl+s-er too. It's terrible, but even if my photoshop freezes I rarely lose too much progress. :D

No, that's not true, I use it to zoom in and out (alt + scroll wheel, very handy)
I don't know what ctrl + L is, but merging layers is ctrl + e.
If I want to merge layers, I always select the layers I want to merge (hold ctrl while clicking them), and then press ctrl + alt + e. This will make a copy of all the layers you selected, and merge them. That way, you will keep your original unmerged layers, and still have them all as one merged layer. Then I usually throw all those unmerged layers in a map
I do make a lot of layers... a WHOLE LOT of them XD
I used 300 + layers for my PW meme, so ctrl + shift + N (new layer) would be one of my favorite hotkeys XD
I also use the hotkeys for all the tools I use (brush tool = b, eraser tool = e, move tool = v, that kind of stuff). My tablet doesn't have any express keys (those programable keys next to the drawing area), but I really don't miss them. I know all the hotkeys on my keyboard ^^
I already used ctrl + s to save, but since yesterday I use it like... 3 times as often XD
