WHY HAVE I NOT COMMENTED ON YOUR TOPIC YET?

Anywho, I love the picture of Rou. The game hasn't even come out yet and I'm starting to get the hots for him. *shallowshallowshallow* And I reeeeallly like your style. Really. Like, I like it like Hotti likes chicks. A LOT.

:draw: Thank you :edgy: I gave up copying other artists art style 4 years ago with my DBZ fandom. One of my friends complained she liked my old style better and hated my new one (it was a bastard child of Akira Toriyama and some horrible mother), so 2 years later, my art style came back, and I swore never to copy another style ever again. This is the result :) I'm finally happy with my art, and so seems alot of people. The manga purists still hate it though :nick: I guess I can't please everyone.

It's not too different from the original art, so I don't take credit for that ^^; Thank you though. He was fun to draw ^^ Can't wait to try him out in an actual original pose. That wont happen till after Easter though- too busy till after then T.T

It's wonderful to hear how comfortable you've become with your own style; that's the way to go! You're a very talented artist and your drawings here certainly reflect it. Also, I almost couldn't contain myself at Diego in a sweater vest (CAN I SAY, HECK YEAH?).

So please keep on drawing ~ I can't wait to see more work from you in the future. =)

Now that's hot art! (40 hours, holy s***)

Very, very Casino Royale like...

One handing a Desert Eagle too? That's like hugging a loose cannon.

Also when will Turnabout Attorney continue? It's left at a cliffhanger

Sorry- I'm trying to string it out a little cause I'm still plotting Part 2, and some of the stuff I have written and posted might change T.T I did just post another chapter. If that one changes, it'll be some of Godot's metaphors, and the play will change. That's at worst. Chapter 9- If I left you on a cliff hanger with chapter 9 you might hurt me XD Lol. That definitly needs some rewrite. I sadly had two conventions in the last two weeks that I spent 1.5 months preparing for >.> Aie. Easter got rid of the last one, now I'm flying through catch up on all the sites I'm on while I wait for my laptop to be installed with XP. As soon as that is back, I'm back in action :) Cause boy- I have some plot twists already XD I'm dying to write it XD

Yes- I drooled over Casina Royale's intro heavily a few weeks before I made this. I knew that I wanted minimal colours cause of it, and also cards. I went through a few trials with the concepts. These are my first 3-

Image Image Image

I obviously ditched alot of concepts to simplify the picture, like the blood and details cause they were too busy, btu they were my first drafts

I also had this pic Image but I discarded using it cause it didn't have a movie feel to it. That was my first try though. You don't always get it right first time ^^

I then started the vector base tracing over my final inks. this is the face- took me like... 5hours atleast alone?

Image

Please note- this is all hand based vectors. Not live trace. All those curves were done by hand- VERY slow process T.T I'm faster at it now >.>

Image

This was where the fire stopped, and I became stumped, cause it wasn't doing it for me. It looked great, but I had to ditch the chick even though it killed the Bond feel, I realised that it no longer needed it, and I swooped the cards around more. Still sad I had to ditch the girl (for those that read my fic- that is Shelly Beech XD ) but it was for the best :) It was a long process, but very worth it ^^ It's the first poster I've made in AGES, and it's a great seller :) I'm proud of my efforts ^^

OMG- you didn't want the unbridged low down on it- did you? XD I just realised that you commented on the theme... Um. YES!! GAMBLING! CARDS! GUNS! ACTION! EXCITEMENT! TIES THAT DISOLVE INTO THIN AIR!

Um- the gun is actually modelled off an Astra .45 off memory

Image

I'm not too good at guns yet so it may look like anything XD It still packs a HUGE belt when it fires though. He's trained to use it even if he doesn't fire a gun in the story. He has back story I'll probably never write about :hobohodo:

Um- Thank you both of you though ^^ Sorry to bore you all T.T I go on for HOURS about art >.>

omg- should I go to bed... I must be tired I'm drabbling... :payne:

Having done plenty of vector adobe illustrator art myself, OH MY LORD can I understand how much time that hand drawn / vectored piece must have taken you. But my word did sticking with it yield gorgeous results. <3 It's also really great to see your process and sketches that led up to the final piece.

Hey! HEY!
How come I've never clicked on this topic! :apollo-shock:
This.. This is GREAT!
I don't know where to start, so I'll just say they're all awesome!
I especially liked how Phoenix does his hair, the Miego ones (there can never be enough Miego) and the "Zeth Gant playing poker" one that you did with a pencil (it's REALLY scary to see how realistic that one is)

You know... It's really depressing to look at those pictures and realise that my drawings arent even half as good :sadshoe:

I WANT MORE OF YOUR MIEGO! :zenitora:

That one of Phoenix doing his hair is really popular for some reason- I donno why... It's a terrible picture cause it was like... my first fanart XD I guess cause the lol factor. That and the Godot one with his hair being too short... Lol.

Umm... it's very difficult to take a comparison comment like that sorry ^^; I'm gonna say it's not a compliment in the sense that it's more of a self put down, and I'd rather people didn't do that :( I've always believed that you become a fan of the artist for their mind and style, but you NEVER compare your art to theirs. I was once a beginner artist, drawing stuff that looked like what I called crap. The one thing I've learnt as an artist, and HAVE to say to anyone that falls in the self loath trap, is NEVER compare your art to others. Only yourself :) If after a year, you've become a better artist, then eventually, you'll be doing awesome art. For this reason, I can't take it as a compliment- sorry. (Damn, I'm long winded when I'm tired.)

Anyways- use a medium you enjoy using, push your limits with what you can draw, and you'll be surprised where your art takes you :) I've always been most creative with a pencil. I try other stuff, but pencil is my love :) That Zeth picture had alot of research with references though. I used a bit of Colin Farrell's bone structure for the face, a few other gambling / shirt pics I found for the rest. The glass done by my head- chips also. I changed the lighting in the pic too. Drawing straight from a picture is SO much easier than off head >.>

Anyways- I'm glad you liked the small portion of my gallery :) I LOVE the Miego pairing, so I'm bound to o another at some point (Goodness knows I draw Diego/Godot ALOT XD ). Thanks for dropping by though :D I do love to get feed back ^^ I have a fan comic floating about the forums also under Turnabout Attorney if you're interested :)

Your art isn't depressing me at all, it's inspiring me to keep on practicing. You really shouldn't get me wrong about that.
Anyway, I'll check out your comic later tonight :)

It's still not good to say hon ^^; Every time you say it, you reconfirm to yourself that concept. If you do the opposite and say your art is great, you'll find that you start feeling more positive about your art :)

Sorry- I just don't like to see artists put themselves down- intentional or not. Everyone has a story to tell, and I love seeing it through the art medium the most :) I hate it when people give up on art cause it takes too long to get good at it. It does take a long time, I admit it, but its such a UNIVERSAL method of communicate. I know how demoralizing comparing your art to more practiced artists can be like. I use to buy alot of comics, and dreamed of being as good as some of my favs like Jim Lee, Greg Land, Michael Turner... For ages I thought I'd never be that good and discouraged myself from trying. One of my friends eventually talked me into making a comic for a con, and even though my first wasn't that great, I get better with every comic.

Um- Essentially, at the end of the day, you have a different art style to anyone else so you CAN'T compare it to anyone else, cause noone draws like you do :) It took me a long time to understand, but when I did, it made me SO much happier about my art and sharing it :)

Sorry- rambling Killy rambles T.T I just don't like it when people talk like that- it's a pet peeve. It only leads to sadness :( I hope you understand ^^;

:objection:
i disagree. i SUCK at drawing big time! and no matter how much i practiced/drew i never got any better :headbang: . even any books about drawing (manga) didn't help. somethimes it's better to admit you suck and give up then to waste time drawing and humiliate yourself.

in holland we have a diffrnt rating system. instead of A to F we use 1 to 10. i always got an 6.5 art art class no matter how hard i tried. i only once had an 8.
even helplines people use with drawing where of no use.
this is also the reason why i only make sprites instead of fanart wich i realy would like to make but never make because i know it would suck/be crappy. it would be so bad watching it makes your head explode.

Well, all I can say is as long as sprite making is enjoyable to you, then I don't know how to fix it, cause you sound like you don't enjoy drawing anymore :( It's essential to love drawing to progress in art, and I'm more than happy to give assistance to ANYONE wanting to improve, but if you don't enjoy it, then there's no fixing that. I feel sorry for you. I've always HATED rating systems with vengeance and hatred. They are cold, biase, and don't teach you ANYTHING at the end of the day. I could say 'ignore their opinion' but I have a feeling it's too late for that now :( It's a huge shame that art goes through the same grading process the other classes do. It's subjective. Not black and white. I never liked art at school for that reason. Teach me methods. Don't grade my art. :Hoboright: I'm sorry you got critiqued so harshly by society

Oh, and antorie- I mean ANY rating system. Art is an objective subject, and is virtually impossible to rate. The best you could do is base it off what the majority of the population are use to and like, and certain aesthetics. The picture may be awesome to a select few, and that's all it needs, but to the general populist, it's not their taste. That, I HATE. I always did mediocre in art. I don't know if it's cause I didn't apply myself, or cause drawing the same stupid type of art... Abstract art, and Maori art... CONSTANTLY drove me nuts. If they had only given me PEOPLE to work with then I'd be actually INTERESTED in what I was making, and might've made something that'd get more kubos, but in the end, I discovered that you have to ignore grades, and just push yourself to get beter. Be open to critique and interpretation, and most importantly, NEVER give up. The more art you draw, the easier it gets.

I've been there though. My last style of art was very heavy Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball Z), and I got some REALLY heavy negative feed back on it, like this pic http://fc06.deviantart.com/images3/i/2004/09/4/7/Peeved_Drakobitus_.jpg. It's not easy when one of your best friends tells you she hates your style of art. See, if I was on the internet while I had that style of art, I'd still be ok cause of the DBZ fans that like the art style. That kind of art style would lower my grade though. That's why I don't like grading.

In the end though, it comes down to creativity to me, and that is subjective to every picture. Once you've learnt how far you can push proportions to suit your art, and how to make an aesthetic picture (for your own art style) then to me, that's what counts. However, if you intend on SELLING your art, it's an entirely different question, cause people are REALLY picky about that.

Thanks ^^ My problem is that I know I could do a more feminine looking face, but I think I need to practise at it. I'm going to have to pull away from drawing men for a while to get curves in my brain as well as lines. It's going to be difficult since I'm alot better at men than women, but it's not as if I don't like looking at women in art, so I think I'll make it. I just need to assert myself >.>

I'm missing something chick in my art thoguh... T.T

I like it!
But to be honest I kinda mis the shading, that would really finish the picture for me.

Oh, and I also think that you shouldn't use THAT much compression. The image is only 30 kb, I think it would be much better if you would make them about 200-300 kb.
It's nothing serious, but something to keep in mind.

Anyway, great job! I love her pose :)

Trucy looks older and taller in here - but cute nevertheless. (:

*Looks at other artworks*
D: I can never draw like you do. :adrian: Really, this is the beautiful style of art that stumps me. That kind of westernised comics style...(Mutters to self over how great Arky is) I don't know how to describe it. :sadshoe:

I like the vector drawing of Zeth - you must've spent lots of time on it. The effect is beautiful. Of course, other fanarts like the Phoenix hairdo is really funny - it is a very well done first fanwork. (:

...Wow. That's so true. The grades never really reflect how much you or anyone else apprecriates the style of art. And it is hard to sell art based on grades. I've been a failure at art since school though - everyone else passed while I failed. But what matters is the amount of effort you put into your work. :D

Sorry- the compression thing is stupid, I do it to stop people taking it, but its not really much of a deterance. Simple images like tht will be stolen with or without protection.

To be honest though, colour is a weak point for me, and I was going to leave this a lineart. I thought I'd put base colour so it had something, but the last thing I want to do with my art when I draw is colour it. I LOVE doing the lineart side. If I could do all my art in pencil, I would. If anyone else wants to colour it, then I'll send them a high res. I just lost desire to finish it further after I scanned it. I get like that sometimes :( Sorry. I never force myself to continue a pic I no longer want to continue with. I'll lose the love for the picture I had while drawing it. It happens to me a bit :( Aything not quite finished like this is the same. I ran out of go. I may come back to it later, or not thoguh.

That's my art style for you ^^; I can get age differences with men, but I don't draw women as much so they become a bit generic. I intend on changing that in the next month practising souly women. Maybe I'll get a better feel for them ^^

It's sorta 50/50... western and not. It's weird. The purists hate my art, but I guess someone needs to XD I don't mind really. I draw what is on my mind and heart. Sometimes I finish it , sometimes I don't. I never push a picture further than it takes me though. When the feeling is lost, I don't flog it. Rarely have I even become happy with the results of doing that ^^;

Aaaaaages- omg T.T I had to learn Illustrator CS2 to do that XD I was a n00b when I started, and had fooled around a bit with it, and know that if I did it without digital lines, it'd look crap. To me, it didn't matter how many hours I spent on that picture, it'd be worth it, cause it'd be how I visioned it. I still to this day feel the feels I felt when I designed it. The vectors were tough, but my passion through this pic were VERY strong :) I know I have a winner when I sit a picture out for the full thing.

Sorry if this comment seems a little weird- I'm very tired as I write this. The world is a little fuzzy and lopsided XD (I know- I should go to bed XD Or I could get coffee and keep going... NO! BAD KILLY!! :sadshoe: )

Woot- you snuck this in while I was typing ^^ Yes- this is true, and you know, a long as you keep drawing, you can only get better at art. Never worse. It's cause you're training your eye. Problem is, you've gotta keep doing it.

In saying this, the grade system is relevant if you want to SELL art, cause then you care about purchasability. Till then? Take critique, sure. Gradings? fail. They're biased. Unless you're selling art, in which case it's relevant
