It has PaintBBS, Shi Painter (pro and normal) and OekakiBBS. As a frequent Oekaki-er, I use PaintBBS the most and Shi is probably the best. Not too fond of OekakiBBS.

And Funkette is obviously a mysterious girl who's actually April May's lesser-known younger sister who upon learning about April's evil ways swore to come help her and change her back into the happy and sweet girl she was in her youth, but when she got there she met the Bellboy who couldn't help but feel an attraction because she was so sweet and lovely and peppy and cute and then they fell in love and he dedicated the next Gatewater hotel to her but then she was so cute she decided she wanted to become a prosecutor which was where she met Detective Jake Marshall (reinstated, of course) and they had feelings for one another where she was determined to try to help him get over his brother's death and become the happy carefree man he once was.

I understand the concept of having a personal canon. In my own head, there is always an element of romantic tension between P/E in my own scenarios. It's "canon" to me. Likewise, I can understand the sheer love one can have for their OCs. I have my darlings too, and half the time when I'm talking to Funk and Co about case-fic, it seems like what I'm typing is "I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!"
So I do understand how "personal canon" and "OC LOVE" can collide. I've already talked about how I feel about CC/OC, so I won't go into that--and I will say that I appreciate that MSoB labels those pictures when he posts the updates--but I guess what niggles at me most of all aside from that...is I wonder how much people know about the CC characters they're pairing their OCs with.
Yuu, have you played GS3 yet? Lydia, what do you know about Kyouya? Those are just examples, please don't think I'm trying to attack you. But when I see these same couples over and over again becoming "pchat canon" well...okay. If I want to see a picture of Luke, nine times out of ten, Yuu is with him. If I want to see a picture of Kyouya, nine times out of ten, it's him blushing over Lydia. It feels almost like there's a loss of perspective when it comes to the characters that have been "claimed" by certain people, that they are no longer "characters", they're "matched sets".
And I can see how that could get frustrating after a while, and how referring to "personal canon" as "true canon" might also irk. That's why I try to be careful, when I'm not in "squeeing fangirl" mode and am in "rational, let's talk this out" mode to make it clear that no, P/E isn't "canon" in the sense of the definition for most people.

This isn't a proclamation of the PChat clique that our word is final (unlike the Lesbian or LESBIAN thread :p ) - it's actually a bit of an in-joke that grew from the purported Aiga quote: "Angels singing in the moonlight." Considering we have our own Moonlight Angel in our midst here, well...
Coincidence? I think so. But it was much too entertaining at the time to ignore. Somewhat self-consciously, it was adopted and celebrated. It remains an unexplained phenomena and gained a bit of mythical quality in that, yes, dreams can come true, no matter how crazy, in even some small way, whether it was supposed to be a miracle or not, whether it was some engineered prank, or even mere coincidence, there it was. It exists, and forever there is that indelible mark.
Can we get any confirmation on that line, by the way? Supposedly it was Aiga's response to being pressed for information, but I haven't found a reliable source just yet. (And on that note I suggest you do not pounce like a rabid attorney on this detail - we are not here to wage war, we are here to share what we have) Even were the myth to be proven untrue and the dream, as they say, shattered (YOUR PRECIOUS DREEEAAAAM), we can hold on to that little bit of fantastical reverie, reminded of the possibilities of life.

On the Nature of PChat
Tinker has taken the words out of my mouth (or used uberhax to hack into my brain). There is an unseen culture and dialog that accompanies these pictures - the conversation, and the people involved.
I retract my earlier statement of "clique" because while it is accurate, it is also untrue. We don't have pitchforks, tar and feathers ready to chase out -everyone- who comes in, only those who disrespect the way of life. And what is the way of life in PChat? Participation. The digital medium of the art and conversation in PChat is not geared for the inattentive or passive, it encourages people to share a canvas, to share ideas, to show off and, yes, make asses of themselves in the process with all of their meandering neuroses.
It doesn't sound so different from the forums, when you think about it.
But there is limited space for restriction, see. The only criminals are those who disrespect other people's right to participate in PChat. Truth be told, PChat on the whole means to be a welcoming environment (if somewhat crowded and noisy at times), and to remember that the nature of the medium requires that one shares or creates.
Now, we will have no more of this discussion of artistic merit in the Oekaki thread. Save that for the Interrogation Room.
