Well, I drew some fanart.
Comments and crits are welcome!
Nice start in the fandom, But I think the scanner has done some damage to the contrast of the art- no surprises there . Scanners are horrible things to traditional art. You look like you've used ink pen on this- am I right? A tip- When useing an ink pen and joining two lines together, don't extend the line further than the intercepting line, cause what happens is that it ends up looking messy even though you have the clean lines of the lineart. use a white out of some sorts to take away anything past the intercepting line and it'll clean the picture right up (This can be twink, paint, proper white out fluid- I use to use white pen, but the old colour still comes through. You need a few layers usually). Just be aware though- you'll likely not be able to shade in pencil over it, so it's best to make an effort not to do it in the first place. Connecting lines is also important, unless it's a stylistic thing where the lines fade out to white.
Another tip to learn is layers- the Magatama there has merged lines with the bulbs around it. If the lines inside of the magatama were to disappear, it'd make the magatama look like it was sitting on top of them. On the same line of things, the belt around her waist is sitting on top of her robes, so to give them 'thickness', if you make it slightly wider than the robes, it'll make it look like it's sitting on the robes.
Lasst tip is with shading with a pencil- I suggest useing the side of the pencil, going right to the edges, and then using your finger to smudge it smooth. For what you're trying to do here anyways :) Erase any over spill of corse ^^
I hope this helps for fanart number two :)
Yeah, I know about the scanner problem. If I had a pencil drawing and scanned it, it wouldn't show some of the time, or the quality was bad. Probably why my house only uses it to scan documents. Anyways, thanks for the crit, Ark! (Maybe it's about time I went and asked my friend about shading.... she does it way better than I can...)
