(I don't think Kafuka even has the mental comprehension to understand that faking something like that would help postpone the trial (although this is just speculation based on Greeny's portrayal of Kafuka (since I haven't seen ZSS (have I mentioned I really like putting parenthesis within parenthesis?))))

EDIT: ZOMG! Awesome idea for Franky's item-thingy: DEM apples! :D (inspired by your chapter title) Franky has a magical DEM apple tree in his backyard or toilet or hippocampus or w/e and whenever he takes a bite of a DEM apple he instantly is able to win any case ^^ And his new talk-bubble phase is "How do you like DEM apples?" xDD
Alternate use: Throw them at the prosecutor's head, knocking them out, so they can't prosecute. :D

Nah. The super magical lawyer items were just to make the gameplay more exciting and interesting. It also is a bit more logical to have to dig out ppls' secrets than having them "well it's my deepest darkest secret evar, but i guess ill tell it since j00 asked so nice! :D"
If you can make interesting and exciting cases without the use of a SMLI, then that's awesome, and you don't need one. But it can still make the story a bit more interesting and exciting, especially when you spice it up a bit.
