I was just wondering where it was if it's been released for fan use. If it is, where can I get it? :pearl:

Ace Attorney MIDI program? There's no such thing. I don't even know what you mean. An Ace Attorney-stlye music composer? A program that extracts MIDIs from Ace Attorney ROMs? It's just too confusing.

Look: Developers compose songs in MIDI format, and put them in binary form inside the ROM. Then, they stuck all the instruments that each song needs into container files, usually converted into .dls (DownLoadable Sounds file) or separate .wav files for every not in every instrument.
Each song's binary structure tells the DS' engine what instrument goes where (aside from other stuff like volume and note duration). And the instuments are taken from the container file.
Basically, to get an Ace Attorney MIDI song from the games, you need to extract the MIDI file and the container file for that song, and use certain software to combine them into one file, then convert that file to a common sound format (like .mp3).

That's all I know. But still, what did you mean by "Ace Attorney MIDI program"?

If you're talking MIDI file exporter, look into Sappy 1.6 for the GBA versions of Phoenix Wright.

There's another version called nds2midi (something like that) for .nds ROMs; I believe it's a hack though (doesn't work as well as Sappy does).

If you're looking into creating scores via a midi tracker, look into ModTracker, or Sibelius.

priceless.

VGMTrans and ndssndext work for .nds ROMs too. You can even export containers to .dls from there.
Then, if what I want is an in-game-like song, I use the licensed Awave Studio to convert the .mid file into a .rmi file (with lvl 1 DLS), which has both the .mid and the .dls fused together. Then, I use ModPlug Tracker to export that .rmi to .mp3. And that's it, you get a full-fledged song from a NDS ROM.

if you're looking for instruments to use to make music.

I rip all of the .swavs out of a game using NDSEditor.

The cool thing is that it automatically converts to .wav when you export it.

(Y'know, I should post a instrument pack here....)

Oh, sorry for reviving, but after I do all of that, I still get something that sounds just like the MIDI. I used ndssndext, then used the payed for version of Awave Studio into a DLS1 RMI file, and them MPT into MP3. And it sounds no different!

Make sure that the .dls file for that MIDI file has the exact same name that the MIDI file, and is in the same folder. That should do it.

I just realized. ndssndext does not dive a dls file. Time to get VGMTrans.

EDIT: I'm really bad at this. I got the music all right, I just can't save the entire collection as a RMS file.
