Actually, they aren't just pioneers in the webcomic front; they hold two annual gaming conventions (PAX and PAX East); were, are and will be involved in the development of actual games (Penny Arcade Adventures: Episodes 1 and 2, Risk: Factions); and the most important thing, they have their own charity, Child's Play, which is not actually big.
So, they really are worthy of a place in the list. Not above Obama and world leaders, but... they really are influential.

So they've made a webcomic, hold a video game expo, and have made some video games. Why didn't xkcd or Nintendo or ppl who host some other gaming convention make the list? While I do like video games, I'm not sure that the makers of video games or video game conventions deserve a spot on the 100 most influential people, or at least not #9. And while it's nice that they have a charity, there are plenty of other charities. (I feel it would be kind of hypocritical to bash Lady Gaga and Pattinson while accepting Penny Arcade...)

Sometimes I like Lady Gaga, and other times I don't. I'm starting not to like her as much because I feel that she's trying too hard to be different and out there. We have this expectation of her to go over the top with everything she does. Everything has to be crazier than the last, so now it feels too forced to me. I like her a lot of her songs, except for "Telephone". That was just...not really good.
The only good person I see in the top 5 is Kim Yuna. I love her :3 Though, I don't mind Rain either, but I don't think of him as that great. The rest suck. Especially RPatts. I mean, really?? If only all those fans knew that he doesn't like them and he hates Edward Cullen. XP

Lada Gaga is not influential, nor does she really impact our lives beyond providing us entertainment...where we could easily find somewhere else without that much change in our life.
She's just crazy popular right now; and even within certain circles. I mean, I barely know who she is...and no one around me has ever mentioned her.

Honestly, these internet polls have lost all meaning after popular internet figures (moot, colbert, etc.) are like "LOLOL GUYS VOTE 4 ME LETS SEE IF I CAN WIN LOLOL" and their droves of blind followers respond with "ITS FUNNY IF THEY WIN A POLL BECAUSE I KNOW THEM L00L0L0L0L0L0L" and then vote. the thousands of them. That's why penny arcade won. That's why Rick Astley was voted 'Best Act Ever' despite just being an average 80's musician (By the way, Rick Rolling is stupid and not funny, has overstayed its welcome since 2 days after it started). So these polls lose their legitimacy because of this.
