I'm sure by now, 5 days after Eyjafjallajökull (Apparently pronounced like this!) began erupting, everyone knows of SOMEBODY who is stuck in another part of the world due to the Ash Cloud over Europe which has prevented any flights until today.

The first ever closure of UK airspace has cost flight companies hundreds of millions of pounds per day, but it has also affected people and brought out that quality of ingenuity which only a disaster can. People buying bikes especially to get on cyclist only ferries, paying thousands of euros for taxis. We've even scrambled three Navy aircraft carriers to pick people up from the continent. The UK has never felt so remote.

I know I have an Uncle and cousins stuck in Egypt, and some colleagues in Spain.

Tell us your stories.

AND for those interested, there's a great site providing live feeds from the volcano in question:

My...second-degree grandfather was supposed to meet his son, my uncle, in Paris for a vacation, but because of Eyjafjallajökull, he's now stuck in Thailand, of all places.
I've been away for far too long.
So long, in fact, that all of my signatures now exist behind a paywall.
Bummer.

You're shitting me, that can't be a real place name. I may have bought Reykjavik, but fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

My auntie, uncle and little cousins were supposed to be visiting us from Australia and should've got here last Thursday but they're stuck in Japan. I really hope they still come, 'cause it would be the first time they've been here for my birthday for nearly 11 years =(

I had no idea there was a five-day volcanic eruption happening in some remote region of the world until discovering this topic. Admittedly, I only clicked on it because of the place's name. Fortunately, none of my relatives are out of the U.S., except my older but he's in Australia which is as far removed from Iceland as a country can be.

I'm in the country that is "as far removed from Iceland as a country can be"- put in those lovely words, and I don't know anyone who is stuck. Well, except our Governer General who is aparently stuck in Dubai. I've been there and I definetly wouldn't want to be stuck there. SO HOT! But I think my Auntie and Uncle are worrying about if they can still go on their trip to Italy soon, but I dont think it will be a problem..

Yea, it's kinda disappointingly over. Still erupting a bit, but they winds have changed, and ZOMG PLANES CAN FLY THROUGH SOME ASH. SO yea. My family are back from Egypt now.

I hope it's neighbour Katla (pronouned ku-tlajlajsbalihfbsuhdfv) erupts now.

Priceless.
The best thing is that a human being actually recorded that.

It's over already? Well, that's too, um, good? Whatever, it's just a crappy chain of delayed flights, not like there were any deaths or injuries or anything.

So the only thing that's worth in this thread is the sound clip.
