Mmmm, ok, let's try this then :godot:

I was wondering if anyone read any of his books...
I dunno if this will actually work as a topic, but if tv-shows can get their own successful topics, why couldn't books do, right?

Yeah, I know, we have a booktread, but you can't fit the worlds oldest medium (except for art I guess) one just one tread!

So, I read most of his stuff, the Saga, the Demonata and I'm reading the Thin Executioner right now. I'll have too read his adult books too once...

Well, I've been reading Cirque du Freak recently, but that's if you count it in its' manga form. (Fugly Steve. Fugly, fugly, mofo Steve.) I also have the CDF movie, but several people on here said it sucked. (That and Madam Octa SCARES THE SHIZ OUTTA ME!)

I've been dying to get my hands on the Cirque du Freak manga. I kinda like the artist's style there.
Also been thinking about reading the books again. The movie was such an epic fail it made me want to get it out of my head by reading something where Crepsley IS NOT HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH F*CKING TRUSKA.
...Sorry 'bout that. Bent up frustrations.

I've been reading it on a site called MangaFox 'cuz I'm not able to buy it. (I'm such a bad fan...)
But it's really good! You should find it and read it!!

Okay, is the idea of CrepsleyXTruska THAT bad? (I'm just asking, since I'm no expert on the actual storyline of CDF.)

Yeah, but since the movie fucked up the whole storyline anyway, you could say the book-Crepsley has nothing to do with the movie-Crepsley.

I just hope the upcoming Crepsley series doesn't take anything from the movie...

Just finished The Thin Executioner, and well, the ending was a little too soft...

Spoiler: TTE
I mean, NO executions anymore?
That's pretty retarded actually...

No, the idea itself is not that bad. :D I might have even thought of them as a cute couple, but the line "your mouth says no but your beard says yes"... Oh god, just shoot me now. >O
Also, whatever happened to Arra?

Thanks for the MangaFox tip ^^
I'll go and read it!

EDIT: *15 minutes later* Kyaah! Okay, I really am enjoying the drawing style. And they're portrayed as kids, which they are, unlike in the movie where they looked about 20.
The use of euros as currency confuses me though :D I never thought of Darren as European.

You're welcome!

And about that line....... *thinks for a second* Yeah, that sounds kinda weird.... XD But the movie itself is kinda entertaining to watch, if you ignore how much of the actual story is gone. (Like with Sam and R.V., who I just plain MOFO-ing hate.)

Yeah, it just wasn't the same story at all. Reading that manga version I was really pleased to see things that I found awesome in the books but were never shown in the movie. Like that part where Darren catches the ticket, or the references to Steve's trouble with his mom...
And manga-Evra is just adorable :D

Whoups, it's 4 am. I should probably go to bed and continue reading tomorrow. XD

Since I've never read the books, the manga's the only way I even know about the (actual) storyline. And yes, manga-Evra is adorable. More adorable than STEVE. *shoots Steve*

Yay, the Larten book is out :D

And, as usual, the UK cover looks way better than the American one...

I mean, in the Saga, vampire mountain had a castle on the US cover -__-

By the way, who else thinks the font in the Darren Shan books is WAY to big...

I mean, is it to make the books seem longer or what?

As I'm sure EndQuote already knows, I'm a huge Shan fan.
I agree, the movie didn't do the books justice at all. In short, it flat-out sucked.
Anybody started the Larten Crepsley saga yet?

I ordered it, so it will probably arrive next week...

I should read some stuff on the Darren Shan wiki, since I want to get all the original Saga references in the LC book, and it's alreay 3 years ago I read the Saga...

(apparently, I can't use an English book fore my project for Dutch at school. Makes sense actually :D)

I liked Koyasan, quite a short story but I loved the story line and the imagery. He wrote it for World Book day in 2006.

I'm gonna try and get back into the Cirque du Freak books again. I've read all the Demonata one's but a couple of books into the other series, I started reading The Green Mile and The Dark Tower by Stephen King, and sort of forgot about them. The library near me may wonder why I'm ordering about 10 books in one go...

And that's why the Larten Crespley Prequel saga is so awesome.

Yet, the first book is too short. It's about 200 pages, but the font is pretty big...

The 4 trilogies arrived this week, but I don't want too read them yet because that would ruin the awesome covers (damn paperbacks...)
