What are your opinions?

I joined yesterday, only because my friend sent a request. I want to see where this is going seeing as it's only early days yet.

Personally I think it looks like a Facebook/Twitter hybrid.

Google realized that FaceBook and Twitter were competing with Google for "Website people spend the most time at"; since Google's big product is ads, they want to make Google the one site you spend your time at.

Not sure if I'll join though... At the moment I'm a bit too addicted to Tumblr.

I'm not using Twitter or Facebook or anything else, and I won't use Google+.

I don't know why, but those things just don't appeal to me.

Ha! Well as long as they don't... actually cross it. But I have a fair bit of info on Facebook anyway so I'm not exactly safe ¬_¬

The thing is, it's their definition of crossing the creepy line, not necessarily yours.

Continuing the same link...

Quote:
Schmidt was talking to The Atlantic about the possibility of a Google implant – a chip under your skin that would track you and provide easy web access. That, Schmidt said, was probably over ‘the creepy line’.
However, he followed that by saying: “With your permission you give us more information about you, about your friends, and we can improve the quality of our searches. We don’t need you to type at all. We know where you are. We know where you’ve been. We can more or less know what you’re thinking about.”
Some might argue that that is over the line too but Google will only read your mind “with your permission”, so that’s a relief.

This is the first time I've heard of Google+ and I'm pretty sure I won't be joining. I'm just like you. I don't really like the whole myspace, facebook, twitter thing, but my friends love it.

Oh, I didn't see the link until now. The quote you posted in your previous post was pretty vague when taken out of context.

But, now that I've read it... Yeah, that does sound creepy, almost Orwellian.

That's a little twisted....mind you I don't care for Facebook or Twitter so I won't be joining...

Though I hope they don't force you to if you have a Youtube account. I remember they once forced you to link your Youtube account to a google account if you wanted to keep using it...they could try that.

Because of that I won't join, I already lost my Youtube account... so I have no ambition to support that Google+-thing. Besides, I have a not so active Facebook account and that's even to much... :edgeworth:

I've never heard of this. I won't get it. I actually hate these social sites, yet I do have most of them. I feel it is a necessity to have one though. My friends use it to organise events and get in touch. They seem to have forgotten mobile phones exist, because if I'm not on FB chat, then tough luck. The number of events and updates on people that I would miss out on, if I didn't have FB, is scary.

That's why I got into FB as well. I was missing out on so much at my old job because all the people there were on FB and did everything through that. They would forget about us non-FB people.

Yeah XP This is the one reason I'm inclined to get facebook, I'm completely out of the loop with my friends most of the time and people talk about events with the details being put on facebook and how they're surprised I didn't have facebook to know about it :yuusaku:

Oddly enough I did make a Facebook account once, my uni was doing an easter egg hunt and to get clues you had to join them, so I made a fake email for it.

What can I say I love my creme eggs.

I only have FB to keep up with friends. I do have a Twitter but I like it because I feel it's not got the whole social aspect of FB.

But nah, not interested in Google+ because no-one else I know has one.

Yeah, I'm not too into the whole thing of having computer chips implanted under my skin. Too much like all those sci-fi movies and whatnot.

Right now, however, I'm not aboard the Google+ train; still a Twitter/Facebook guy. (Though I hardly use either of those, really.)

I just recently found out about this.

I'm quite skeptical since it's Goo-I'll-get-as-much-info-from-you-gle, but for now I'll wait and see how it turns out. I don't think I'll have any use of it though. :yuusaku: I'm not the type to share my personal info on the net and I don't have FB (no offense to those who did), so I didn't find it interesting. Besides that, CR and Skype already got me preoccupied, I don't think I'll be able to handle more. Just like my MySpace account.

I've got Facebook and Twitter, and I don't really see the point in signing up for another social media site. I barely use Twitter (unless it's tweet to win competitions) but Facebook sort of took over my twitter usage after a while. Google+ just seems like a terrible attempt to take some Facebook market share. With any luck, it'll become like Bebo. Dead and buried.

One of my friends was telling me about it and said it looks just like FB except they have introduced sort of 'social circle' things. I hate it when sites put stuff like that on, like Myspace with it's 'top friends', makes the whole thing feel like a popularity contest.

I'm actually quite liking Google+ now XD thought I'd just hate it. Though I like it mainly for the people I'm following (or whatever you call it). Two of the Marble Hornets boys and one of the EverymanHYBRID boys. Swell fellas.

I agree about the circles thing though, seems stupid and yes it does look like a cheap version of Facebook.

I wonder what other stuff they'll add to it soon..

I love Google+. I've been using it way more than I have Facebook since I joined.

It reminds me of everything I used to like about Facebook before they kept screwing up the layout: simple, clean, easy to use. I don't care about games, polls and all that other garbage, so I'm glad there's nothing like that in G+(..for now anyway). I just get my info, post what I want, and that's it. Nothing inbetween.

And Circles are pretty much the best thing. I like that I can categorize my friends so that I don't have to share EVERY status post, pictures and so on to EVERYbody. Any "drama" caused by that will simply be because people get butthurt too easily. It's a really nice form of keeping my privacy while still being able to talk about and show whatever to people that are relevant to the topic.

Apparently, facebook was going to delete any post referring to Google, but it seems it was a campaign rumor fabricated by Google themselves.
