Actually, it's from 2009. But at least you added more than just a one or two word response.

A lot of things have changed since then, though. I actually enjoy a beer every now and then. Amber ales mostly.

I tried tiny sips sometimes and I think it tastes icky.

When I went to Taiwan I tried a full cup since their age limit for alcohol is apparently lower. I had one glass of some wine thing and I was able to get used to the taste but I slept for 11 hours...

Necroing is fine, just as long as you have relative input to post in the topic. Honestly though, I think we could use some more humorous topics myself, I don't feel we do that as much as we used to.

Yeah I don't like hate being tossed around everywhere. I found a topic for the funniest things our friends ever said, but I can't remember the last time my friends made me laugh. Usually I'm the one who causes laughs. :moe-laugh:

I wish wine would do that to me now. Unfortunately, one too many sips and I actually wake up in the middle of the night.

My mother allowed me to have a sip of her beer or wine, mostly beer, as I was growing up. It wasn't something that was absolutely verboten, so that by the time I reached my 16th and 18th birthdays, I wasn't the type of teenager who starts drinking tons of alcohol just cause she's legally allowed to now.
Really, I tasted it and I can handle sips, but I don't like the taste of it in general.
My mother prefers dry wines, too sour for me (I'd be more of a sweet wine drinker) and I still have sips now and then - especially when she mixes, like, a fruit juice with coconut syrup and some kind of alcohol. Sometimes, those taste really good. But not enough that I'd want to drink an entire glass of it.

I do, though, like the smell of ouzo.
And Virgin Coladas.
Okay those are non-alcoholic, but still.

Oh yeah, and when I was living with my dad we'd always have non-alcoholic beer in the house and my dad let me try it regularly. In fact there was a time where I was having it with dinner everyday.

Lots of people say it tastes bad and isn't worth it if you aren't getting drunk but I think it just tastes like mineral water...

Personally I don't like alcohol. Not only because of all the side effects. I've tried champagne (hey there silvester) and beer (because my family wanted me to try one sip) and firstly it all tastes like the same thing to me. Secondly I don't like that taste. Thirdly I don't like it when it feels like burning in your stomach. Definitely not my stuff.

By the way: I've never been drunk... and I'm 18! :o

Well this is an interesting read...

I probably have alcohol once every month, and it's usually just a couple light beers or a pint of cider (Kopparberg is the bee's knees). Besides the insane prices of alcoholic drinks here in London, the loss of control brought on by the stuff terrifies me now.

EDIT: I was on the bus late last night on a seemingly empty bus before a crowd of drunk people walked up to the upper deck and proceeded to take off their trousers and pretend they were in a fashion show or some shit. I mean, I understand that sometimes people just want to have fun or whatever but Jesus Christ they looked so pathetic I almost pitied them.

I used to have my parents letting me have a sip of their wine during celebrations so alcohol isn't much of a big deal to me. I'm legal but I'd rather have other drinks since you don't get any after effects after drinking them.

I have tasted some young wine recently and realized how huge the difference of age could do to the taste(it didn't taste very good...). I never got drunk though, maybe once I got a little tipsy from drinking umeshu.

It's interesting to see so many different types of alcoholic drinks mentioned o3o I'm clueless about all of this.
I'm 19 so i can't legally drink yet in my country, but I have tried sips of Corona and... I dunno, whatever random junk my family members goad me into trying. I've never liked the taste of any of those drinks because they either sting my throat or just leave a bad taste (like red wine).

I have no problem with the fact that people drink alcohol for pleasure and all that as long as they know their limits, but personally I'm just never having alcohol since:
- Family members killed by drunk driving (not them being drunk, but a dumbass running a redlight)? Check.
- Drunk family members being total wifebeaters? Check.
- Men in general being complete jerks when drunk whenever I visit family in Mexico? CHECKCHECKCHECK.

So... yeah. I know people with enough common sense can control themselves but I just don't have very good things associated with alcohol.

Heh that's perfectly understandable. It's the same with me and cigarettes, the simple thought of it makes me nauseous.

Nothing's wrong with not liking it, you'd have to be pretty naïve to think drinking will turn you into a big, strong boy. Alcohol is okay, as long as you drink responsibly.

Not to mention I saw a video recording on tv about a man who was having a drunk drive and drove his car into a courtroom and just left it there. (At least he turned off the lights of the car.) And the sad thing is he was supposed to visit that courtoom the next day for previous DUI arrest. (Feel free to laugh because when I first found this out, I laughed so hard that I cried.

Simply don't drink and drive, don't be a danger for yourself or more importantly others you might hit. Have some dicipline people.

Though the legal drinking age here is 16 for <15% alcohol and 18 for 15%> I don't consider myself a heavy drinker. I'm fine with one or two beers, but I can take more in case of serious partying (I'm 21 so it's all good folks!).

I mostly drink pretty generic beer. The taste of Grolsch or Jupiler is just great for it's price and fits pretty much every social occasion. I also like more expensive beers like beer with some added tequila (like Desperado which is owned by Heineken) and white beers (Don't know if thats the proper English term). To bad they're quite expensive though.
I also enjoy a good whiskey once in a while. Jack Daniels is good, but once you've tasted single malt whiskey you'll never apreciate whiskey again unless it's a single malt.

That reminds me: Did you know that the southern part of the Netherlands have an annual holiday that lasts for 5 days and consists of drinking(lots and lots of drinking alcohol) and dressing up as something wacky? (literally anything goes) It's called Carnaval and it's coming up rather soon.
Though its probably one of the most fun weeks each year the quality of beer just saddens me (fesival beer --> watery low priced crap). That's why me and my friends always do some drinking before heading to the party.

Ooooh, don't forget the following.

- Long-term drinking resulting in your liver shutting down, which causes ammoniac in your body to not be build off properly, so you get jaundice and the chemicals cause your brain to work different and result in Personality Changes. And eventually death, when not treated. :redd:

You know, just a few days ago, I actually drunk at work.
With sort of permission. The snack bar at our cinema has these huge 2 Liter bottles if white wine. This one was almost empty and since we were beginning to shut down for the night and it was so little, it wasn't worth selling, one of my colleagues asked if anybody wanted to drink it.
I figured, "Eh why not" and tried some of it. It a pretty sweet wine.
Then I had some more and mixed that with carbonated water - so I went home somewhat drunk...ish? My mom wondered what the hell happened since I actually don't drink. It wasn't that I was drunk, it was just that I wasn't my typical absolutely-sober self.
By the way that white wine with carbonated water tasted quite nice.

I'll keep that in mind since my grandfather says a little white wine before dinner is good. (Half my family is Italian.)

I'm still not interested in having any alcohol in my system. (I refuse to have my braincells fried.)
But if I ever do have a nice alcohol drink I'll wait till I'm 21.

Well now, having a little alcohol isn't gonna instantly fry your braincells to mush.
It can happen, but only if you drink copious amounts of alcohol over a long period of time and especially if it becomes so that alcohol is your main source of "nutrition".

Which reminds me... as a little to anybody who is thinking of going out and drinking.
Never drink on an empty stomach!
Drinking on an empty stomach causes you to get drunk faster. Why - quite simply, your stomach and digestion system has nothing to take care of, so they instantly go for the alcohol that gets brought into your bloodstream. So if you do wanna go have a party night out, at least have something big and fatty to eat beforehand. :redd:

This and also the chances of you throwing up get insanely higher. The #1 rule of drinking is to always eat beforehand. (however, there is such a thing as drinking after overeating and it gets even uglier)

Just don't drink more than your own body allows you to. Only you can feel your own personal limits in terms of how much you can drink. Don't drink more than you can handle and you should be fine.

If that's to hard for you to determine just remember this: moderation is the key

I was just ranting about this in my head a little bit ago. Not alcohol itself, but just people who abuse it.

I just... REALLY don't like getting sucked into a conversation with a drunk person. They're loud and obnoxious, and even if I try to walk away, they're putting their hand on my shoulder, bein' all like, "No, I'm serious. Listen to me. I'm being serious. L-listen."

I'm sorry if that wasn't what the topic was intended for, but this is the one place where I actually could post about what was really on my mind.

As for alcoholic drinks, I'm actually not at legal drinking age yet. I have taken little tastes before (shh!), but the only drink I have ever liked the slightest in my life was some sort of cherry-flavored beer I sipped during the summer of 2003. It was pretty good.

I don't have anything against alcohol but.. yeaaah. I got in the hospital two times because I was so drunk and hell, it wasn't even worth it. Sometimes, when I'm going to a party I try to drink a bit less than I used to drink. I mean, it's good, not actually bad, but.. Alcohol makes my mind so fuzzy and I always get hyper, crazy and sometimes I also get confused and/or sad.

Yeah.. typical.

Okay, I changed my mind about Alcohol.
I fucking hate it!

Thanks to all the people who go to the cinema and buy a beer or any other alcoholic beverage and then drinks it in the theatre and leaves the empty half-full half-empty barely-empty bottles for me to clean up and god forbid if that stuff actually breaks!
Urgh!
Seriously, the sour and bitter smell of alcohol is disgusting!
I had three bags full of Beck's and Fransizkaner and Augustiner and other types of beers to take care of today at work and that stuff reeked! I swear, if I have to smell alcohol again for the next 24 hours, I'm gonna puke. I don't care what it's on, I'm going to shove my finger down my throat and puke.
At least then I'll have my own stomach acid smell in my nose - that smells better than alcohol.

Honestly, I'd prefer the smell of half-consumed alcohol to the smell of moldy, greasy popcorn, piss and ass that permeated our theatres when I used to work there.

Broken glass does sound dangerous though.

Leaving garbage at the cinema is just plain rude. I always clean up after myself, but I'm afraid that I am more of an exeption than a rule on this in practise.
But the problem here lies with people and not alcohol (although it can enhance rudeness). If people are jerks they'll leave their rubbish behind whether they're drunk or not.

I like drinking beer. As the dust of Carnaval is fading over here I can honestly say I had a great time. 4 days working and partying with friends is exhausting, but incredibly fun. Beer (well, the ones I like) tastes great and is a good way to cut loose. It's a shame you all seem to dislike it so much, but everyone is entitled to their own taste.

PS: cleaning up someone elses smelly crap is never fun, but that's unfortunately part of the job.
