As far as I know, Timo Kotipelto and the rest of the crew apart from Timo Tolkki has stated they will continue with the same name and without Tolkki.

Over 80% of the stuff I listen to is Japanese. Gackt, TM Revolution, Tamaki Nami, Hamasaki Ayumi, JAM Project, uh...High and Mighty Color, yeah. I also like some Korean music. The only English music I listen to nowadays (I used to listen to that all the time as a kid) is Linkin Park, Wierd Al, Queen, and parody music (Doc Adams PS3 song, I'm a Gangster, etc). Also 500 Miles by the Proclaimers gets stuck in my head at the mere MENTION of the title! So I guess I like that song.
Oh, I almost forgot! Caramelldansen (Swedish). I love Caramelldansen.

Hey have you ever seen that horrible special effects music vid of them singing Eagleheart? It's pretty bad quality and the expressions on Timo Koti's face are enough to make you laugh or cry at how god awful the video is captured. It almost looks like he's trying to send certain messages with those eyebrows. :lana:

My friend likes to make fun of it and because I'm the one that saved it, he'll never let me live that down.

Sadly, I've seen the video. I'm not really a fan of the band although I used to listen to it when I was younger. The fact that they are always trying to pull something to get to the newspapers and headlines is making me amused. Especially Tolkki was trying to pull up a media stunt every time he got the change to do so. That said I believe this newest thing is also just a media stunt to make the band gain more publicity. :\

Yeah my list on this matter is going to make this thread do redundancy checks.

Koda Kumi
Utada Hikaru
Megumi Hayashibara

I once heard that last one over the intercom yesteryear. What Megumi would be doing in Phoenix is way way beyond me. Still, my ears perked at the first mention even though I probably hadn't heard her music or anything about her for like a year before that instance. Shocking.

Uhmmm....
Can't play Zelda 64 without there being mention of Koji Kondo.
Kuraki Mai miraculously made it into my arc. How, I'll never know. I do know it's the only proof I have that a song can be 100% understood outside of English.
Tojiko Noriko is in here too. Another miracle.
When you see it from my perspective it gets really weird because most of the stuff I pay attention to is under heavy contract or just being worked like a dog.
Nobuo Uematsu, Tsuyoshi Sekito, Yoko Kanno...Basically all the stuff that is forced to be really well known by project or soundtrack.

Wow, lots of people like Japanese. It's a likable genre though.
I judge people's gender on the internet by their avatar. So if I call you a girl when you're a guy, it just means you have a damn sexy avatar that I'd like to get in bed with.

It's basically a trend. J-pop and J-rock are pretty popular among teens over here which has made certain clubs organize J-pop and J-rock gigs with no age limit. It's really a trend over here.

Well it's not like it's some big coincidence that the Japanese have a tendency to make product-/-purpose it later. Then add that English is taught to these people on a large scale. It meets your requirements. NYA! :yuusaku:

I'm from South Asia. ALL the music I listen to is 'foreign'. :yogi:

Oh wait:

That changes alot. Although Daft Punk, Royksopp, and to a certain extent Gogol Bordello aren't English/American.

I also like Ojos de Brujo (Spanish flamenco/hip-hop stuff) and random j-rock songs ("Wall" by LUNA SEA probably being my favourite).

Although, there is a lot of variety here.
Of course, I find it sad that I've never heard of half the bands talked about on here. (Except of course for Daft Punk and Santana)

Er... just kidding with you. ^_^;

Has anyone mentioned Buck-Tick yet? I'm partial to a lot of Japanese music, but that band in particular, and it's sort of a shame that a considerable amount of J-rock fans I meet have never heard of them. Also, I like a group called Velvet Eden quite a lot and I meet even fewer fans of theirs.

Buck-Tick - Kyokutou Yori Ai wo Komete (With Love, From the Far East)
Buck-Tick - Gensou no Hana (Illusory Flower)
Velvet Eden - Maze

I'll have to check out some of the links here and see if I find anything that strikes my fancy. ^_^

千年の祈り(pray for the new century/Japanese) :pearly:

偷功(learning slinkingly/Chinese)

And this one is my currently favorite:

紫のゆかり、ふたたび(Japanese) The prelusion is a bit long and boring, but the main melody started around 1:30 is epic <3

I like a lot of different music, but most of the music i listen to is british, even if I am norwegian. Actually the only "foreign" band I listen to that sings in their own language is Sigur Rós from Iceland, they're great. If anyone here is interested in finding foreign music (it's not foreign to me), the norwegian band Kaizers Orchestra is pretty good. I recommend that you check them out. It doesn't matter if you don't understand their lyrics, they're relatively popular outside Norway too. Also, i don't think a lot of norwegians understands their lyrics either.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=jpuH6zWK0wE&feature=related (Probably their biggest hit)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=qNnGPsmiYI4&feature=related (One of their darker songs)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ohrel37KKd0 (This one is strange. Video is nice, but not related)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=j_wg21OeJpw (Live vid. Catchy song, that for some strange reason includes the riff of The White Stripes Seven Nation Army)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=mYrPdOCM4y0&feature=related (Yay gas masks)

I listen to a lot of jpop, though there's so many I can't name them. :payne:

My other favorites:
  • Lost Prophets
  • Within Temptation
  • Three Days Grace (Yeah, I'm stretching it... they're from Canada)
  • Globus
  • Yann Tiersen

My current favorite song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEDXhla1cuM
It's Utada Hikaru's "Can You Keep a Secret?" which happens to be the ending song for my favorite prosecutor drama ever. (okay... it's the only prosecutor drama I know, but...)
