We were leaving as they turned up having walked for 3 hours rather than just staying home and being sensible and both couldn't understand why we wanted to go home after freezing outside for 3 hours ourselves and being soaked through. My boyfriend's friend seemed annoyed at him as I think everyone else was (except me, which is unusual, I usually hate people letting others down).
So ended with them being annoyed and us girls leaving to go home.
After reading this again I'm unsure if this is really an encounter...

Ah I did have alot of fun in the snow, fell over twice and rolled giant balls of snow down the hill to make the snowfort! I did see him but I think he was annoyed we didn't stick around for longer (we were all turning blue, I kid ye not!)

Besides that, I've had a few instances where I've been asked out by girls I like, but in not knowing whether it was a joke or not due to me never being socially awkward, I always refused. And then, don't even talk about me tryuing to build up my confidence to ask one out XD
Also, the girls who have shown interest in me have been geenerally unattractive, as in, both physically and in personality, or have been joking around with me, and when I do take them seriosuly they stop talking to me. And I also make the mistake of making close friends with the girls I do like, and they're like "You're awesome, but you're too much of a friend, you should be happy, hope you find someone."
Doesn't help that they usually go out with the pricks, not the oversenesitive guys like me who try to be gentlemen and fail miserably in all pursuits because of the pricks who know what they want, and know how to get it, only the pricks who do that though, not everyone who does.
Also, one of my best friends once told me if I was gay or bi he'd take me in an instant, nice to know someone cares but doesn't help me because I'm straight, can't help that, just happens that I have no luck with the ladies.
Although the one time I did, I almost became a prick because of it, but now I'm back to my usual happy-go-lucky, convince-friends-not-to-cut-themselves self.

That doesn't sound bad to me in any way, and the way I learned about girls I think it applies to most of them. Something many guys don't seem to get is that it's kind of rare for a girl to give a flat-out "no." If she does it's usually because she doesn't know you well enough or she has a legitimate reason (i.e. another commitment) to bail on your plans.
Now don't you "oversensitive" guys come saying that I'm wrong, and that the reason you mostly get rejected is because girls know you TOO well, instead of not well enough. It helps to kind of walk a fine line with girls. Before you become "best friends" with any girl, try and identify which girl you want to date, if any. You'll want to be a little cooler around that girl at first, and not go making best friends with her from the get-go. Talk to her, get to know her and stuff, and be good--build up some rapport--but keep it kind of low key and detached but still fun. You can flirt.
Try and avoid the extremes, which would be 1) asking out a total stranger and 2) confessing your feelings to your best friend. Do either of those and expect a rejection (though in some cases best friends make fine partners). There's a fine line that you can walk to increase your chances of success.
Another thing about "best friends." I can safely say that my girlfriend is one of my best friends, and I rather like it that way. So why did I just say it generally doesn't work to ask your best friend out? The trick is that she wasn't my best friend before we started dating. After we met, there was mutual attraction, so we started hanging out more and became friends. Three weeks or a month after we started hanging out more regularly like that, that's when I started showing (SHOWING, not SAYING) what I thought of her and what I wanted from her (i.e. a relationship). Though really, the mere fact that we started hanging out more regularly was a clear indication of what we both wanted. When someone really wants to spend time with someone else, they'll make that time, and they do it because they care.

Learn to vocubulary. Gay is general word for all homosexuals to use as identification. Gay is just a synonym for homosexual, and as such can be used by any gay person, lesbian or otherwise (fuck it just to prove my point, I'm gonna refer to myself as a lesbian from now on.) Just like 'queer', which while associated as a derogatory term for a male homosexual, is in reality an umbrella phrase that encompasses the entire sexuality spectrum other than heterosexual, such as pansexual, bisexual, two spirits etc etc.

Of course, as is in my nature, and as some of you may know I've liked this girl for a while. Well, I've kinda gotten over her. Well, naturally, some sort of friendship has to exist before you start going out. I thought I had said that earlier. It's just easier when that friendship isn't the really emotional and possibly somewhat mushy "best friends" kind of friendship. My rule of thumb is if a girl and I are close enough to be talking to each other about our romantic relationships or problems with others, we're probably too much of "best friends" for me to be asking her out. Not that I'm saying it'd be impossible to do, but just not the same as it would be if the relationship were a bit more casual.
This is just me and my theoretical, hypothetical ramblings, but yeah.
I'm actually of the opinion that it ought to be easier for best friends to date each other, since they're naturally very close as it is, so for them to be romantic really ought not be that much of a stretch, or at least not be as difficult as people make it out to be, but then they also say Greeks like me are often too romantic of thinkers. So sue me... what I've done with this post and my last post is explain what seems to be society's view of best friend relationships that escalate to dating (i.e. how it doesn't usually work out), and also how I might have adapted that view to my own relationship, whether that view can actually apply or not.
So, yes, I'm not very happy with my "rule of thumb" from the first paragraph of this post (I apologize for being a bit of a flip-flopper). That's just what I've learned from society and have adopted into my own views, whether I like it or not. The more I think about it, though, the more I want to just cast it to the wayside. I just can't find a reason why a relationship won't work out solely because the two partners were "best friends" before they began dating.
