Apparently there will be an American live action television series sometime soon, which seems really interesting. Hopefully it'll be a good adaptation.

Man, I've watched the first episodes of this anime... In fact, it's very good...
I wish I could start to read it now, but I'm already reading hundreds of different manga...

I usually read a whole bunch of manga at the same time, but then I forget all the different plotlines. When I started reading Monster, I kinda tossed all the others I was reading aside and focused on that one. I'm reading 4 or 5 series now.

I've started reading Oyasumi Punpun. Weirdest manga series ever...and that's saying something.

Started reading the manga Life, which I learned of through TVTropes cause some people are surprised that it's for younger audiences, although it deals with life problems, bullying and cutting yourself. Up to now, it's kinda cliché which I'll give it that. It should get better, though.

Scratch that. I'm now starting the third volume and, by God, it's cliché and silly. I have the same problem I have with all the other shoujo heroines who act like OMG THE WORLD IS GONNA END if they arenot friends with everyone. Come on, Ayumu, just tell the girls to bite themselves, reveal that Katsumi is a bondage fetish ass (although why I reacts so badly to someone finding out is strange, I mean who cares?) and don't care if he reveals that you cut yourself.

That is exactly why I flipped through this manga at the library, let out a sigh, and placed it right back on the shelf. I don't mind manga that have bullying as a theme or something--Koe no Katachi is good--but series like this are tiring and not at all interesting in my opinion.

Well I pulled myself through. I'm on Chapter 24 and - Okay, it took her 24 chapters, but Ayumu finally grew some balls and told her main bully "It's karma, bitch!" so yeah. AWESOME, Ayumu, Awesome! :will:
Two thumbs up for the balls-bearing Ayumu!

Now just punch the everloving crap out of Minami or Manami or Mana or WHATEVER HER FUCKING NAME IS and make sure she finds out the boyfriend she doesn't even love has a sick (and I mean sick) bondage fetish and hope she reveals that she cheated on him and also took drugs! :will:

Pleeeeeeeease tell me Ayumu will beat that bitch up... otherwise, I'll be forced to make a Minami-look-a-like in Shoujo Deconstruct and have her really suffer. :pearl:

Most of the time shojo heroines don't do it for me because they don't punch the lights out of *insert jerk here* when they should. I'm not even reading this manga but I TOO hope that Ayumu keeps up this character growth. Best of luck from me.

Reading the spiritual predecessor to Life by the same mangaka, Vitamin. I'm only a few pages in and I can already tell one giant problem with the heroine. She lets her boyfriend fuck her on the stairs, although she's not in the mood.

For fuck's sakes, woman, if you don't feel like it, tell the guy! And if he doesn't get the message or says crap like, "But you're my girlfriend" or "Come on" then I'm certain a good punch in the groin will show how very much you are not in the mood!

Then again, I'm certain that boyfriend will turn out to be a jerk in the next chapter.
After all, he already showed a jerky side to him with that and saying how stupid it is to get attention by having bleached blond hair instead of getting noticed through your good grades. What a dick. I hope somebody throws him out a window, like it happened to one of those guys in Life.

Edit

Actually, scratch that. It's still the first chapter and she already beats the shit out of her bullies! Awesome! Yes! Smack 'em! Kick 'em! Smash their heads in with their desk! Ahaahahahahahaha!! :redd:

I'm switching it up with Night by Elie Wiesel. It's depressing, powerful, and a classic. I have no other words for its perfection.

Just started Nana by Yazawa Ai. I didn't think I would enjoy it, but I think it's actually really good so far.

Be prepared for the disappointment that the manga has kinda been on hiatus for some time now, after Yazawa had an illness and was hospitalized.

Yeah, I saw it was on indefinite hiatus. :larry:
Still, there's a lot there for me to read.

Over the holiday I plan on reading a whole load of books. I'm not really enjoying any of the novels I'm reading right now, but my bookshelves are so full, I can't buy any new ones till I've finished these. -_-

I'm reading Now I'll Tell You Everything, the last of the Alice book series by Phyllis Naylor. And I can tell it's really the last one, because she is tidying up loose ends and making bigger jumps, having characters get to their "destinations" although other parts... they are still boring to read.

Also found myself getting pretty frustrated with Alice when she prepared to have sex the first time. For one, it was written like it was nothing. For another, she put the lube on before even climbing into bed with the guy... and as my mom said, "If you need lube, you're doing it wrong" and how you need to learn about some fucking foreplay! Stupid Alice, the lube gets put on during foreplay, and only then if you don't get wet enough. Stupid, stupid, woman.

And what a title, right? Now I'll Tell You Everything.
She could've called it "Spoilers for how it Ends" and you'd know.

Finished the last of the Alice books, all 520-something pages of it.

Spoiler: In case anyone cares...
It finishes the story off pretty nicely. It does larger skips in time, going from her starting collage, age 18, up to the point where all the students, now around age 60, go to dig up the time capsule they put in when they were in 7th grade.
The book does give us nice insight, it rounds the story off and tells us about others, giving us glimpse on how things worked out. The book had me teary at times. Only thing I didn't like was how Alice, almost age 60 then, decided at the end of the book to write books about her life of growing up - it's like Half Prince, the main character ends up writing her story as a book in-universe.

Now I started a manga called Heroine Shikkaku (Heroine No More) of a girl in high school who thinks that, just because she and this guy are childhood friends and she likes him, they'll end up together. You know, typical childhood friends turned lovers as they grow older.
But she realizes that she is not the "heroine" of the story and it deals with how she deals with having an unrequited love. She is pretty annoying when she thinks of herself as the heroine, but gets better. Already emotional at times. Also hilarious.

Ah, Heroine Shikkaku! Although the heroine of this story can be annoying at times, I like her overall, since she is hilarious. This story had a premise that I liked which kept me going with it.

Yeah. I mean, she is annoying at times, but I think the fact that she makes me laugh is what keeps me reading. Plus, it is a very nice change to the constant shoujo manga formula of actually getting the guy she wants. And those faces she makes at times - hilarious! And the style changes where she switches to that ancient Shoujo Manga look. And the Mila Superstar appearance.

Currently reading the new chapter of One Punch Man. Its about the strongest superhero on the planet whos only a C-rank hero in a world where superheroes are everywhere and there is an organization of super heros. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good gag manga about superheroes.

Another manga with some interesting faces. One Punch Man is very gaglike at times, but Yusuke Murata outdid himself with this one. It's pretty good.
(Some would say a detailed version of Gintama).

I'm reading Shion no Ou. It's interesting. I have no real interest in Shougi, but the idea is entertaining. My only problem right now, is that the pacing or the time in the manga confuses me. Something happens at the end of a chapter, then the next chapter starts at a later point, making it seem like the last page of the previous chapter never happened.

I love One Punch Man because of the gags. I love the whole story premise which is a good instead of always seeing the same damn ecchi manga's that have been becoming popular.

I'm on Chapter 14 of Shion no Ou and I want to make a prediction about the killer's identity.

Spoiler:
I say it was Hani-meijin who killed her parents. No idea why, that doesn't matter. That's just my prediction for now.

Regarding my prediction of Shion no Ou, I was right. It was actually really, really easy to figure out. So easy, I predicted it 34 Chapters before it was made official. Although the few chapters before that actually felt like a really long way of saying "We'll tell you WHY this happened. But yes, it's totally this."

"The publishing house that God forgot", roughly translated from my mother tongue. It's about a high-quality publishing house, Vertigo, released because of their 20th anniversary. They publish "classical"/quality pornography (Sade, Sacher-Masoch etc.), surrealism, books about left-wing politics, controversial books in general and some other random things. I really love that publishing house and would love to own more or less every single one of their books. (I have quite a few, though, and when I get more money I'll buy even more of them.)

I am reading "Lies, Inc." and "The Man in The High Castle", by Phillip K. Dick. I picked these books from a recommendation of a friend from my old school who was really into sci-fi novels, works by Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking (he wants to be a physicist one day) and books about space. They are really interesting books grow what I have read and are the best sci-fi novels I have read so far (and also the only ones) Any other recommendations?

Not a recommendation since I don't read sci-fi and soforth, but Phillip K. Dick seems... interesting? Would you recommend him to someone who doesn't read sci-fi but is open-minded when it comes to genres? I have been interested in his works for a while.

I've been reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and I must say, it's really relatable. The funny thing is that our names are really similar (Cath - Kat), we're both starting college and are big fans of HP. (Oh come ooon, Simon Snow is basically a counterpart of Harry. C;)

Hahaha. I'm not reading it THAT slowly. It'll probably just take me a month or two. My personal best for reading LotR is actually 4 days, but that was when I was, like, 11 and it was during the summer. xD

I'm using my tablet in many several ways because I'm just reading manga on it. For this time now, I don't even want to read a book since I've spent my entire childhood reading them and they are just so boring now. :(
