This, but on the phone...

Once someone called asking for windows. I said we lived in a cave and we didnt need any windows. Then he actually told us we can get a door for your cave if you want. God, this guy was either bored as I was or just really persistant at his job.

I agree, Israel's getting waaay out of line. We Americans just shrug this shit off and hardly ever give the Palestinians side of the story.

I am sooooooo tempted to respond... but then we're prolly gonna start pointless off-topic arguing that won't lead anywhere. I'm just gonna say that I can kinda forced into having the opposing viewpoint xD

Penguins, I've made many rants about this subject before but I REALLLY hate how much penguins appear in the media nowadays.

I mean really, you can't have a single animated movie without a penguin in it.
SO MANY EVIL PENGUINS.

And then you get to Club Penguin, I love trolling that site so much.
Whenever I feel bad I make a new account and name it something to do with Hitler, I then scream WHITE POWER! to all of the black penguins until I get banned.

If you've ever seen a penguin named Hitler it was me.

One thing that really grinds my gears is when people take politics personally. Okay, you're a Democrat, and you don't like the Republicans, but that doesn't mean you need to make fun of and insult Bush or McCain or Palin or whoever. They're people, just like you. Would you like it if I made fun of you, and everything you ever did or said that was stupid? Would you like to be the butt of many people's jokes? They are trying to what they think is best for our country, even if you have different opinions on what is "best". Making fun of people just because they have a different opinion when they are trying to help their country is just cruel and obnoxious. The same for people who just support politicians because of the person, not the policy. We're not in middle school anymore; do elections still really need to be popularity contests? I haven't actually seen it for myself, but my mom said they conducted a study where they asked people "Do you agree with Bush's policy of [Insert Obama's policy here]?" and "Do you agree with Obama's policy of [Insert Bush's policy here]?" and got overwhelming "No"s for the first question and "Yes"s for the second question. It's just... blargh.

Yeah, I wouldn't like it if people insulted me and whatnot, but I'm not famous, nor do I want to be, so I don't really have to worry about thousands upon thousands of people hating on me. I feel it's how people present themselves. Political figures have a reputation to uphold, and are watched under strict scrutiny by us civilians. Even if there's something insignificant like a grammatical or pronunciation error in a speech, many people will automatically dub them as stupid. It's the same with celebrities, we don't know who they really are, but the images that we see of them is how we judge them. "Never judge a book by its cover" is complete BS to me... :yuusaku:

Also, I imagine that these politicians don't give a rat's ass about childish insults, there are bigger, more important things on their minds... or at least there should be XD

But everyone makes mistakes, like a little typo or proununciation error. But then when people make childish insults, and dub them stupid, and attack them personally, and stop caring about the policies...

Thank you. :goodman: In all likelihood, you can only guess how profound a relief it is to hear you say that. Coming as I do from Minnesota--the home of Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale--and having survived public school and four years in a leftist-dominated ballet company, I have been relentlessly mocked on account of my beliefs. It has sometimes been very tempting to despair of ever finding someone on the other side of the aisle who is willing to participate in honest, civil debate. I'll confess something: the post that I deleted was originally a challenge to your position on Israel. I deleted it because I feared that it would start a firestorm and I'd rather not make enemies if I don't have to. That said, I will take you at your word and give you a peek at the situation from my angle. I don't want to waste too much time off-topic on this thread, so this post will probably be all I dedicate to it here...but if you wish to discuss this further, we can do so over PMs.

Spoiler: Pro-Israel Rant
Israel is the only nation on the face of the Earth where (at least most) Jews can live without fear of being persecuted by their own government. For centuries, they have had no home of their own and been chased out of or terrorized within host countries the world over by royal decree, religious fiat, pogroms, and organized death squads. After all this time and suffering, I think the Jews have earned the right to a nation of their own. Israel doesn't have a spotless record--no nation that has ever tasted power has one--and I find some of its policies abominable, but I'm convinced that it has a right to exist--one worth defending, especially in light of the fact that Israel is very small.

It's been a while since I read up on the Palestinians so my memory may be a little fuzzy here, but if I remember correctly, the Palestinians were evicted not by the Jews but by their Arab neighbors who were planning to invade and told them (the Palestinians) that they had one simple choice: get out of the way or get killed. These Arab powers have been holding the Palestinians hostage ever since, never allowing them to settle in their own, larger countries but instead using them as political chess pieces with which to weaken Israel. It is a sad fact of human nature that when trapped and abused by a power far stronger than oneself, the anger and resentment are sometimes redirected away from the seemingly omnipotent oppressor and toward another, against whom they think they can win. This is especially likely to happen when it is encouraged by the oppressor. It's an old stratagem: divide and conquer.

Getting back to Israel, though it continues to survive and even thrive, this has always been against the odds. Its citizens live under the constant threat of all-out war and terrorism is commonplace there. No Israeli citizen can be certain that he'll live past 30. Living under this shadow has made it necessary to draft all able-bodied adults into at least temporary service in the armed forces. This abundance of enemies is reminiscent of America herself, with one notable difference: Israel has less native resources to work with and is more geographically vulnerable than her big sister. Incidentally, America's vote in the UN was crucial in the formation of modern Israel. Even on strictly moral grounds, I see a clear imperative for America to defend Israel, both out of loyalty to kin and in the service of defending the weak and the persecuted.

Now let's look at the pragmatic side of it. It is no secret that much, probably most of the Middle East wants to see America crippled and even destroyed. Some think of us as "the Great Satan". Some Arab leaders claim that our support for Israel is the root of this discontent, but is that likely? I don't think so. The use of "Great Satan" implies a hatred far stronger than mere political disagreement--something primal or perhaps religious. Consider the examples of Carter and Clinton. Jimmy Carter put considerable pressure on Israel when he was President. Indeed, he has recently published a book which is very hostile toward Israel. Did the Arab powers like him? Not if Iran is any indicator.

Early in the Carter presidency, Iran was run by an America-friendly Shah. A revolution occurred and Carter allowed Ayatollah Khomeini to overthrow the Shah and seize power. If anyone had reason to like Carter, it was Iran under Khomeini. The new Iran thanked Carter by holding American soldiers hostage for the rest of his term and publicly burning him in effigy. They released the hostages only when Ronald Reagan--the candidate least likely to play nice--was sworn in as President after defeating Carter in 1980. Bill Clinton also put pressure on Israel when he was President. Clinton was thanked with an attack on the USS Cole.

Israel serves America's national security interests by acting as a check on Arab aggression. Furthermore, Israel has yet to attack or even threaten us. If there are benefits that we stand to gain by abandoning Israel, feel free to enlighten me but right now, I believe America has a lot to lose and very little to gain by doing so.

For the time being, Hetalia and its fanbase.

I can't stand this piece of shit series. What was originally a really great and funny idea just becomes nothing but fodder for stupid yaoi fangirls to be all "lol im pairin up countries but there so bishonen an gay *_*" This tops Weiss Kreuz for being the absolute worst series I've ever seen in my life.

This, this so much. This is what I have problems with with most anime show fanbases.

Also, a lot of other fanbases grind my gears as well:

-Sonic The Hedgehog (Pedos, recolorists, retrofags and furfags galore)
-Crash Bandicoot (Same as above pretty much.)
- Twilight (Do I really need to explain?)
- Teeny Bop Sensations (Such as the Jonas Brothers, Justin Beiber, Hannah Montana, etc...)

Ya know what really grinds my gears?

VEGETARIANS/VEGANS. Most of them are stuck-up, inconsiderate hypocrites who think that just because they made a decision about their diet, it means they can do whatever the fuck they want. Alright, I can respect not liking to eat meat because of religion/taste, but that does not give you the right to FORCE-FEED TOFU TO PEOPLE WHO DECIDED THAT MAYBE MEAT TASTES ALRIGHT. The really hypocritical ones are the ones who became vegetarian because they don't want to kill animals. WELL TO FUCKING BAD. The animals are gonna die whether you like it or not, cows are gonna be killed for leather, chickens are going to suffer crowded conditions for their eggs, and pigs are just gonna be used for gelatin in things like pudding. These traits of course, exclude those who are vegetarian for health and allergy reasons. Those people normally don't want to be vegetarian but were likely forced into it.

I also hate Obama, Furries, weeaboos, cereal, music that isn't catchy, yaoi, everything about Disney today (except for Pixar, Kingdom Hearts, and Phineas & Ferb), people who hate Pokemon, oldfags, anything most little girls like these days, and Gible. I might explain those later.

Amen to that! I tried watching it after being pressured by one of my friends, who forgot to tell me how gay that show was. I quit around episode 7.

Not all vegetarians are like that...mainly the stupid die hard ones but theres only like a few. ¬_¬

Anyway, you know what really grinds my gears?

How the bad people always seem to win and the innocent fail. It's like, there was a man who broke into a gas station, using a FLAMETHROWER to melt down the gates, then steal the gas while the flamethrower was still on the ground, on. And he lived, not one ounce of the gas blew up.

And meanwhile, innocent people who have been nothing but good their whole lives are dying and suffering. This concept of Karma I'd like to beleive in, but honestly it just never seems to work...the bad guys get so lucky.

I'd say nah, but then again, every time I look in the news, it's always some celebrity or cool person dying due to a terrible medical condition or some trauma related to said terrible medical condition.

When was the last time you heard about a serial killer getting AIDS, or a child molester developing cancer of the balls?

You could be thinking about a messed-up westernized version of karma instead of actual karma. Actual karma means being born into a better or worse life depending on what you did in your other lives, not having good/bad things happen to you based on good/bad things you did before in this life.

I basically agree with you, but you're more likely to see a vegetarian condemn another person's diet than to see a meat-eater do so...and the blowhards aren't exactly in hiding. During a music festival I attended a few years back, a group of vegans set up a stall there. One morning, a lot of us campers woke up to find that our meat was nowhere to be found; it was probably stolen under cover of darkness.

True, but his point still stands. You likely to hear regularly, and in some cases see, good people getting screwed over, but you rarely ever see truly despicable people get what they deserve.

People who make ignorant grammatical mistakes. I'm not talking about silly typos or people whose first language isn't English. I'm talking about native English-speakers who make ignorant mistakes such as saying "your" instead of "you're", not using apostrophes, using apostrophe's to pluralize word's, use txtspk when usng a cmptr, or just making a complete mess of grammar. Seriously, folks. Pay attention in school. This is elementary school stuff. There's really no excuse for not knowing it, unless you're still in elementary school.

Video game console fanboys who insist that every other console sucks, is kiddie, has no good games, has bad graphics, etc. Mainly people seem to complain about Wii. The annoying part is that most of the time the arguments are just nonsense and are occasionally full of spalling errorz. I've even seen some people give bad reviews of games that aren't out yet. WTF.
Say, that reminds me of a puzzle! Have you ever heard this one, Luke?

Kids these days. No, I'm not kidding and yes, I know I'm only 14, but I can't get my head wrapped around the amount of disrespect some kids have for everything. School becomes a trial to see how long you can last before you make a mistake and everyone laughs and gives you some ridiculous nickname. Or maybe that's just me. God, the rate I'm aging, I'll be dead before 30.

I have yet to have ONE peaceful reaction to someone's discovery of my veganism, being vegan for a little over a year now, yet I don't snap at every dude eating a burger.

You tell me who's condemning about the diets of others.

Just because crazy asshole extremists go around bombing KFCs and stuck up idiots (Most likely a large percentage of the vegetarians at Yaragorm's school) gasp whenever you pick up a burger doesn't mean every vegetarian/vegan is going to yell at you for your choices.

Gregory Wright wrote:

So? What the fuck does that have to do with veganism in general? Again, those are just crazy idiots.

Also, just to let you guys know, some guy in a red shirt kicked me the other day, all people wearing red shirts must be violent jerks.

PETA is probably the most ignorant group of people I've ever seen. If you want to support a SANE animal rights group, support the ASPCA. And not to mention they've made flash games blatantly ripping off Nintendo games such as Mario and Cooking Mama on their site to brainwash kids. And they dressed up on KKK outfits and protested outside a dog show in New York :beef:

Another thing that grinds my gears is when the air conditioner breaks when I'm at a public place or at home and the place gets insanely hot. I can't stand that.

I am very aware of how little sense this makes. Another reason I have for sympathizing with him is the large group of vegetarians at his school that throw vegetables and shit at him (I've seen people this dumb, I totally believe it.) He's also a very, "Excitable" person, which I can also sympathize with, so I can see him making mountains out of molehills.

Anyway, no use having this pointless argument, neither of our opinions will change. Plus, as far as I know, I'm not exactly your favorite person either, so we might as well stop before some two page long off-topic war breaks out.

They made a Cooking Mama rip off? MUST PLAY FOR LAUGHS.

Are you, in fact, serious? This is probably the single most outrageous, disgusting, incorrect and copletely unresearched piece of propaganda I have ever witnessed. That's really all you can say about it. PETA is a large and functioning organisation, right?

Oh god, that's hilarious. The Mario one is even worse though XD. I love how they infringe on copyrights by using the actual Mario characters. And Pamela Anderson? WTF?

EDIT: OH GOD XD
Say, that reminds me of a puzzle! Have you ever heard this one, Luke?

You know what really grinds my gears?

When you're using headphones and you stop getting sound in one earpiece. The wires snap inside at the slightest bend, they always break within the first few months you get them, and why does no audio system have monaural settings anymore? What was wrong with that?

If you actually stopped wanking over Pokemon and left the house for 5 minutes, you'd be less angry about everything.

Actually, I found that going outside and getting exposed to the rest of the world has made me MORE angry. Weird, huh?

@Yara Why do you hate Obama?

Because he's overrated, his wife's uglier than a gorilla, and because absolutely nothing has changed in America except that everyone is praising the president instead of making jokes about him.

lol I love how you rant at Gregory who was somewhat polite (well, sort of), yet you don't seem offended by Yaragorm who is the one actually being a cunt XD

I know, I was kinda pissed, and I'm really used to Yaragorm by now, if that makes any sense.

Plus, he doesn't hate me/my diet for some reason, so that might have something to do with it :P

Now that I think of it, it doesn't really make sense for me either. But like I said, I'm a hypocrite too.

Another thing that really grinds my gears is when people make a whole bunch of posts on a topic while I was gone and I somehow feel obligated to look through them all. It really, really grinds my gears that I live in California and thus in a time zone much earlier than everyone else's.

Yara, don't be an idiot. Obama's done a lot of America. And you're being shallow. Hating someone because their wife is ugly? How much more shallow can you get? And you aren't before EVERYONE else. Think about the Britons, the Aussies, etc. All WAY ahead of you time zone wise.

You know what really grinds my gears?

When people say "everyone did this", or "everyone didn't do this," when it only applies to a few people.

EDIT: Examples of what Obama's done are: socialist health care and actually giving NASA some money. Unlike Bush, Obama knows that science is an important field. There's much more, but I'm not an American, not someone who follows the news a lot, and I'm tired.

Oh, and people who act like their country is the only country in the world (*cough* Bush *cough*), and think that Scotland is a part of England grind my gears.

When you whisper something to someone and they say it out loud to make sure they heard it right.
example: :franny: : *whispers*
:gant: : FRANK IS PREGNANT?
:whip: : Shh!
