Updated my signature with a picture of my 6 win streak. I even managed to get another win after that one, but the 6th one was such a close call I decided to take a picture of it and brag about it (hah!). Feels good to finally win again in marvel!

Tell me about the battle I do love a tale of a close fight.

It's hard to describe with words, but I'll do my best. This guy and me were pretty even in terms of skill, maybe he was even better since he could properly use multiple characters. He counter picked my Phoenix Wright with Doctor Strange, who has an attack which stuns you through the shield of maya. Also he has teleports and a fast hyper combo, so keeping him away failed miserably. With Phoenix dead Dante comes in, only to get hit by an incoming mix-up. after some additional chip damage Dante bites the dust without doing much damage.

So my final character comes in: Zero. He still had pretty much all his health with all 3 members of his team. I dodge the same incoming mix-up and teleport behind him. My attack connects and I do a basic combo into hyper combo

LVL3 XFACTOR ACTIVATE

Throw my lvl 3 hyper during the previous one resulting in instantaneous death for Dr Strange. Next up is his Virgil, with no meter left I go for an lvl 3 buster shot into teleport to catch him, with success. I didn't kill him immediately, since lvl 3 x factor makes zero a bit too fast to control sometimes, but I catch Virgil for a 2nd time and kill him without spending hyper meter. Now my X factor is gone and he comes in with Akuma and lvl3 Xfactor. Luckily I build up 2 hyper meter and he only had 1. I activate so genmu (hyper where you create an after image of zero, so you can throw double projectiles) and start chucking Hidankeki (sort of hadouken) and buster shots times 2 because of hyper. Akuma responds with throwing his hyper, but since he needed to land first when I threw all my projectiles he got hit and his hyper didn't come out. Now with no hyper left I keep throwing out projectiles, since I'm dead if he touches me. But luckily for me he didn't have an answer for my barrage of projectiles, so he kept blocking and occasionally get counter hit.

A complete Zero comeback. The only thing better is a Phoenix Wright comeback, but I'll happily take it.

Sounds awesome, I hear a lot of hate for Virgil from Phoenix Wright players, I take it he has a good counter to Phoenix as well? Though wow that Akuma must have been raging at the end of such a loss

Virgil is a good counter for everybody. He has good range on his attacks, good damage, good combo potential, good assists, lots of his moves are safe on block, every hit can be followed up with a decent combo, good walking speed, good teleports, good hyper combo's, he pretty much got it all. If you look at high tournaments you almost see Virgil on every team, because he's pretty much top tier.

So yes, he is a good counter to phoenix. The problem is there was 1 update for UMVC3 before Capcom lost the license to Marvel, and Phoenix Wright's assist was NERFED and Virgil was buffed. Sadly Capcom lost it's licence, so no more balancing changes can be made. Now if you look at something like EVO you see Virgil everywhere.
