Instead of feeling sorry for yourself and how nobody likes you or whatever, you better start liking yourself. Boost up your confidence with something, like exercising. You said that you wanna try to lose weight, right? Go do that, and don't make excuses to make yourself not do so otherwise.
Sounds too simple, I know, but it really is that simple. You just have to dedicate yourself to making yourself feel better, and it will project a positive image to others and they'll start noticing you in a good way.

Just be genuine. Don't lie or fake anything around girls, they're good at picking things up and wont trust you! Don't change yourself for a gf, they're not worth it, plus if you change different sorts of girls will start liking you and they wont be suitable for your personality. Believe me, I tried changing for guys, it just made me unhappy and confused and they didn't know who I really was. Now I get a fair amount of attention from them and just because I don't fake around them or anyone else.
I mean, if someone loves you, you want it to be for who you are, not who youre pretending to be :/

Hah, actually... oh wow, this is an old old story... but I should tell it:
So, I was in a play quite a few years back... and I had this crush on this guy that was in it.
For some odd reason, we had been discussing the people we liked, er, mind you... without names...
And there was a part that we stood by each other facing upstage... so, we'd um, er... talk... I know, shame on me... shame on me...
So during a performance, we're up there talking about who we like and out of the blue he's all, "You like me, don't you?" and ... wow, as I type this... this is starting to seem like a boring story.
So, I like ('cause I was/am such a drama queen) nearly fall off the platform when my knees buckle and I'm all, "No. No. No. I don't." and he's like, "Yes, yes you do." and so later...
Later I'm sitting backstage ... and he walks by and... and... I say, "Well, do whatever you're going to do... break my heart or whatever." (Yeah, I seriously said that...) and he's all like, "You assume too much."

That's true, although I personally made the experience that it can be shocking if it isn't obvious or detectable in any way ...
My boyfriend was my best friend for a long time before he became my boyfriend and out of the blue, shortly before summer break two years ago, he sent me an email where he told me that he's in love with me ever since we got to know each other.
... We knew each other for 2 years by then.
I was terribly shocked, since he never EVER showed any slightest bit of affection. We were hanging out a lot, sure, but we never even TALKED about something like "How much exactly do you like me?" or "Are you in love with someone?" ...
... So I didn't know how to talk to him for a long time, it was crazy. I was just so shocked that someone was able to hide his feelings for such a long time while we were hanging out together every weekend and were in the same summer camp each year ...
