I thought that since these forums were about a law game and all..
And yes, I realize PW is different than real life in the court.

So, how many of you want to be/are lawyers?

Well, in real life I have quite the interpretive thinking. I've done numerous investigations and reached conclusions, defended people on the internet from otherwise outrageous claims with the very things I uncover.

Although everybody I've defended I knew personally. If a problem takes my interest, I'm usually all over it gathering every bit of info I can. When I get enough info, I can make conclusions that may or may not be accurate. I could tell one of my stories here, if anybody wanted to judge me as a lawyer.

Used to, many years ago when I was at school. Mentioned this on here somewhere I think last week.

I was all a bit "young Edgeworth" about it back then.

Nothing tragic happened to make me change my mind incidentally, it just happened.

If not a writer of some sort or something like that.

I have considered it for a while and going to law school wouldn't be a problem for me since there is a Law school about 3 blocks away. However, I can't see myself being a lawyer.

Nah...never had the inclination. I wanted to be a vet when I was little though! Until I realised that I'm awful at Science and really can't be arsed with all the work. <_<
So I'm playing to my strengths and I'm going to go into Journalism. Or maybe possibly comedy. Not Stand Up though. The stage fright would kill me. >_<

It's one of several career paths that interest me. I've done a bit of studying, but I can't pretend that I know enough about it/am old enough to make a real decision >.>; It's just something that sounds nice. I enjoy maintaining order and doing mundane paperwork.
I'd really like to be an artist though :)

You know you can't just walk up to the door and go 'hi I'd like to be a lawyer' and they then shower you with legal briefs and money, saying 'welcome to the Bar Association! We're so glad you knocked on our door,' right?

My sister starts her law studies this year, and she decided to study that beacuse of PW. she only has played the first game so far ( she is not the gamer type), but she liked it so much that decided to study to be a lawyer. She liked Law from before, but didn't really decide to study it untill she played the game, so yes, I can say she is studing law beacuse of Ace Atorney.

*cough* I feel kinda stupid looking back...after I first beat AA, I was filled with a desire to be a lawyer. A passionate passion, you might say. I asked for and got a a book describing the advanced basics of the american judicial system for christmas. I took notes every night, eventually filling up an entire notebook with legal terms and the like.

Quite the eighth grader I was.

But then I decided that lawyer-ing wasnt for me. ...The end.

Look what games are doing! They are forcing people to choose the profession that their favorite game characters have!

The horror!

I won't let games turn me in another direction! I shall continue to try making my dream possible! I shall become a plumber like Mario! That fights turtles whom threaten his land! I'll only have to work on Mondays! Hoorahh!

Oh, and just to tell ya, real world court isn't as easy as Phoenix Wright... you get stuck and you don't have months and months to find a solution. But at least it's less linear! :gant:

Actually, you do get months and months to find the solution. No trial has ever been held the day after the crime. But thats beside the point.

What is the point is that being a plumber who fights turtles and works only on mondays would indeed be awesome.

Just kidding.

In actuality, there is no point to this post. How bout them apples?

There you have it, that is why Mario games sell so much. Everyone wants to be a lazy plumber at least once in their life, right?

Eh....

Phoenix has (or at least thinks he has) the luxury to choose which clients to take, largely based on if he thinks they're genuinely innocent, but I'm not sure that choice exists in the real world (certainly not to the same extent that Phoenix displays, anyway). I just couldn't stand the thought of defending someone who actually murdered (or raped, or otherwise harmed) another person.

And Miles' side of the court isn't much better: you're building a case against a person who's charged with a crime, and if they're actually innocent and you convict them anyway... that's a really heavy burden to bear if the truth emerges post-trial. At least it would be for me.

There's too many risks involved, and you're playing with lives, of all things. I've wondered sometimes about becoming an attorney, but at the end of the day, I'm not sure I could stomach the sort of court battles portrayed in the game (ignoring their ficticious nature, of course).

On a completely unrelated note I'm related to a lawyer. :P

Yeah, and Phoenix would NEVER be able to get by financially with only about four and a half cases average a year. A real lawyer would have tobe taking many at once all year to stay up.

Nope... if trials worked like they did in the game, I'd be all over that but reality is much different. Most defense attorneys and prosecutors don't enter their professions because they care about justice or want to defend the helpless... it's the sad truth. :(

Anyway, I'm already studying to be a dentist so I'm going to stick to that.

I have three career choices right now, programing, diplomacy and criminal justice (more specifically prosecuting). I have always been a computer buff, so programing could be a natural path for me.
I absolutely love to travel, and I plan to speak multiple language in the near future (right now I only speak English and French, but I'm starting Spanish this year and I will do Japanese in University), which is why I'm interested in diplomacy (that kind of job also have a tendency to give you some useful contacts...).
And finally, prosecution. IT has absolutely nothing to do whit Phoenix Wright (Actually, I both Phoenix Wright becose of my interest in criminal law). I'm someone that only work properly under pressure, I don't mind working overtime and I usually have a very good judgement. I also read quite quickly, which is actually quite important when you are in laws... Too bad my spoken and written English isn't that strong (I guess I could always work in Quebec, thought...).
Oh, and just to make everything more convenient for me, my local university's law and computer science program are among there best.

Naaah. I think I once thought being a lawyer would be cool when I was a wee Charlotte only four feet tall and with all the intelligence of a cricket bat, but I'm a bit hazy on the details. My memory, to be frank, sucks. xD

Personally, I could never live with myself if I defended people like killers or rapists and got them free, and I can't help but suspect that it can be a bit of a dangerous position if you've got a big case on your hands, like if somebody was threatening to kill you or hurt your family or somethin' if the case didn't go exactly the way they wished for it to go.

GOD no. I barely stumbled through the simplified world of Phoenix Wright, so I highly doubt I'd make it in the actual world of law where they DON'T let you randomly try pieces of evidence until you get it right. Plus, I have an ATROCIOUS memory. Law would not be a good idea.

I've been thinking about it for a while, but the Ace Attorney games had very little if any role in my decision.

If a lawyer can be emotional enough it can actually be very good for the case sometimes. Just be whatever you like to be best, though ;)

I would become a prosecutor, perhaps. Me and my mother talk about this loads, but honestly I'd rather work for Capcom *is shot*.

Really, I'm not sure what I want to do, lawyering's on the list though.

I...don't think I'd ever become one. Although because of the Ace Attorney games, my interest in law and government has grown. Hell, I even got a high score on a test about law thanks to this game! :edgy:

But seriously, I'm going into graphic arts/illustration. Art + law = DOES NOT COMPUTE.

But making up retarded court cases with your friends, with the use of DBZ action figures, is pretty fun. :keiko:
