Every pic' posted here from there has been changed to this:

EDIT: Looks like it's been fixed. So here's what the pic's were changed to:
Image

It's hit the sprite comics section hard. Click a link and most of the time you get an error message. Not to mention missing title shots.
It says no pic's have been harmed. They better not have been :zenitora:

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO MAKE THIS TOPIC BUT CHECKED FIRST. GOD, THIS MAKES ME SO FUCKING MAD! THOSE FUCKING IDEALIST PRICKS WHO THINK THAT THEY CAN JUST COME IN AND FUCK EVERYTHING UP! ALL TO STOP WHATEVER THE FUCK IT WAS!

Come to think of it, I couldn't make heads or tails of its message. Can someone explain it please? I got that it had something to do with the security industry and blackmail.

Plus if you look to the left of this post, you can see another reason I'm pissed. :chinami:

Well by the looks of the opening post, it seems to have been fixed?

Or wait, nope. But I DID see a Meta Knight sig before the Anti-Sec crap loaded. So the images are still there, they're just being redirected.

Probably relevant, posted in a chat I'm in: http://blog.ncircle.com/archives/2006/0 ... t_why.html

The whole antisec thing is too tl;dr for me to understand, so movement fail? Probably.

No doubt it's just some 4chan retards spouting shit.
It's affected the main page of CR also. There's 2 images that won't load. And i wonder it that's somehow related to why i haven't been able to access the official art at times today (not the site directly but the host).

LOL Masque*Demasquer and Sketchinmaster's sigs are now WAY over the size limit :meekins:

@Johnny: The problems of the CR main site have others reasons. Everything is stored on Dreamhost - Not on Imageshack.

And yes, I noticed this too. Many of the pics I stored won't load at all.

Someone on Newgrounds just said it's a "grey-hat hacking group", that looks for exploits on websites, and uses them, but doesn't disclose the way they did it so no one else can before it's fixed.

If that's the case they could've just told Imageshack they found something instead of pissing people off :nick:

EDIT: Here's what they said:
Quote:
Basically it's a grey-hat hacking group who hacked Imageshack using an exploit and they aren't going to release any information about it because disclosing that information (as is usual when security exploits are discovered) leads to the exploit being replicated by script kiddies before anything can be done to fix it. These script kiddies cannot find exploits themselves so don't deserve to hack things.. is the jist.

In my opinion it's a bit lame.. I don't agree with full disclosure but I don't agree with this sort of hacking. The hacking group should at least contact imageshack and let them know about the hacking, but of course, in spite of themselves, they want to show off.

Photobucket stretches large images. So sprite comics can't be stored on there.

I'm actually more surprised by the people who don't have a clue what they're talking about, but I suppose I shouldn't be. Here's what went down. I hope you're sitting comfortably. ;D

There's a history of software companies (and retail outlets for software/hardware) exploiting people who don't know much about computers for money by convincing them to buy overpriced programs with features they don't need that sound impressive.

*COUGH*MICROSOFTWINDOWS*COUGH*

It's a fairly common social problem. You combat it by being properly informed about the hardware and software you purchase. Fairly simple. Unfortunately for a lot of people that's too much effort to make to buy a "simple" PC and it's these people that get exploited.

Specifically here, it's a fact that most security software has features that people rarely use and in some cases degrade the performance of your PC due to being poorly coded (anyone used Norton products before?). The solution is to use different security software or a different operating system entirely.

Generally, security vulnerabilities in software get found and dealt with. But, instead of being responsible and keeping it quiet until it's fixed and only informing the necessary parties of the vulnerability, it gets broadcasted in public that this exploit exists, whether through official or unofficial channels. That turns a potential threat into a very real threat, and it will be exploited.

The argument being made by this group is that this practice is allowed to go on by security companies so they can then justify the high expense of their product to businesses and consumers by showing them how quickly these vulnerabilities get exploited. (Nevermind that security software can only protect against known exploits by putting pre-programmed modifications in the security software code.)

In this case, it looks like they found a security vulnerability in ImageShack that could have turned incredibly nasty if it was exploited by someone malicious (all images replaced by porn, deleted, rearranged, etc. etc.). Rather than actually do that though, or broadcast this massive exploit, they decided to keep it quiet and warn Imageshack directly. So that Imageshack could not ignore what this group had just discovered, they dropped clear proof that the exploit exists into the laps of half the Internet - they replaced all of Imageshack's images with a warning.

I find their message and point intriguing, but the methods they're using to demonstrate their point are definitely shady and full of potential problems themselves. Just be glad you didn't get your pics permanently overwritten with porn. ;)

Keep in mind that their explanation was vague and cryptic. And when it was requested (by me) for someone to explain their motives, the given answer was also vague and (assuming yours is correct) misinformed.

You can't have a clue that doesn't exist.

Incidentally, I haven't witnessed it at all. Either it was swiftly fixed, or it only had effect in certain regions of the world. (That can happen on the interweb sometimes, eh.)
