You've probably ran across that one book where you get sooo deeply involved into a character, that it's unhealthy. When you later read, and get to that one page where the story flips for the better... and that person dies. WHY is it that every freaking book I read... My favorite character, (usually the underdog, or the hated one) Ends up dying, and the book lives on happily ever freaking AFTER!

Anyways, This is where you post what book you read, and what character died that had you in tears/flaming hatred/suicidal thoughts, to see if anyone else reacted the same way as you. Also, you can discuss the event, and maybe even explain some unexplained points in the said books. Use spoiler tags, of course.

Mine for example:
Spoiler: Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports
When Ari expires/dies. That freaking pissed me off. I mean, he went all the way through the series, a complete badass... and he had to die when he was at the peak of his awesomeness. Worse than that, come to figure later in the series, they exterminate ALL erasers. There were sooo many things flying through my head when I came across those pages. From Anger, to sadness, to throwing the book into my fireplace, to writing a 4 page rant to Patterson himself.

Normally with books I'm split between two or more characters, so this hasn't happened to me (sure one of them's died but the other always survives!)

Mustang doesn't count at all because he survived.
(Although I don't remember that... Unless you're talking about the eye wound. I like his eye wound, because it's important for his Virgo :3)

and Naruto:

Kakashi. Although he came back to life ...

Also doesn't count.

And it's kinda why Naruto sucks now.

(The point of people dying is that they are no longer living!! ...Of course, that's nothing compared to Konohamaru knowing Rasengan.)

I've only had this really happen twice, and neither one was in a book, but still.

Spoiler: Firefly
Wash, in the movie. He was so awesome, and then they went and killed him off. ;_;

But more importantly...

Spoiler: Bonus Stage (lawl, this one's common knowledge)
Rya, in episode 79. This one's a bit complicated--79 was actually the first episode I saw, but when I watched the rest of the series, I grew VERY emotionally attached to Rya. So now I get sad every time I watch that one. :sadshoe:

Closest thing in a book would be...

Spoiler: Looking For Alaska
Alaska. It was really sad, but she wasn't really my favorite so it doesn't really count.

I freaking loved Snape, he was my favourite charecter! And then just as -
Spoiler: "End of Deathly Hallows"
We find out he was actually a pretty brave man who risked everything to save the son of woman he was so in love with...J.K went and killed him off...I was gutted.

Even before I found out he was technically a goody i was gutted though, I loved it whenever he sneared at Harry, it was pretty hilarious (Obviously this wasn't because i disliked the charecter of Harry Potter, it was just amusing).

I cried so badly when Dobby died...which is a bit pathetic i guess. Ditto Aragog, Dumbledore, Hedwig (Why did she have to kill such a cute owl!?!) and the whole chapter when Harry goes into the pensieve and finds out about Snape/Lily.

I still found myself liking Zac Gramayre/Shadi Smith, despite how it's partly his fault that Phoenix lost his badge. He made me laugh alot for some reason...

Yeah, i didn't want Count Olaf to die either...I always thoguht he was funny, right from the beginning of the series. Then again, I think Lemony Snicket is a very funny writer.

Spoiler: Harry Potter
Fred...it was Fred. T~T Lupin's (and Tonks, in a way, but more Lupin's) death really pissed me off because it was basically done just to bring everything "full circle"--the book ends and begins with an orphan, basically. I mean...all the Marauders are gone. HOW FREAKING SAD IS THAT?

I've also never quite gotten over Sirius's death. I tried re-reading the series before the HBP Movie, and I all but stagnated once I got to OotP because I didn't want to have to read his death.

The circumstances of Snape's death made me cringe, too. Just...way too sad.

A miracle? I agree. So completely. Though not so much because the book itself sucked, but because of all the DYING. >.> I get where she was getting at, but that doesn't stop it from sucking.

Ending sucked too, the fact Harry won I consider a cheat considering the special wand he used plus...

Spoiler: Major HP final book spoilers
HARRY DIED! GAME OVER! FINITO!

But nooooo someone must've gathered the 7 magic dragonballs.

In the end Harry wins essentially because he's a thug who mugs people.

Okay, I know this thread is about charries dieing, but.... DEAR LORD JK ROWLING!
The whole book was camping and DEATH.
I don't think she even had it edited...

And I don't think she really cared.

I think she wanted to make the last chunk of money from books, and get over it.
It's so obvious she was just tired of the whole thing and pooped out the last book. :chinami:

[/rant]
*ahem* yes. okay. I'll stop complaining in this thread now.

Spoiler:
Though I laughed... really hard when Hedwig died. I swear, it was made more dramatic than anyone else's death... in ALL the books!! Though, the five minute slowmo death of Sirius in the movie made me laugh too.

I told ya, seven magic dragonballs....

I'm still stumped that the only reason he won is because he punched Draco.

If Draco took a walk down the bad end of Glasgow at night dressed up wizard style, some ned (yob, chav anti-social delinquient) would wack him and get it.

"Haw man check out this mad mental stick I got"
"Thats totally mental man"
"Aveda Kadavra pal!" *kills friend*
"Aw man..."

I'd have spoilered this but with that last post of Neokitai's revealing most of the important deaths my post kinda pales in spoiler significance.

I agree with all of that, especially concerning Hedwig. I was so pissed when she was killed off, and I still don't see what the point of it was. And it happened so fast too *sigh*

Ah yes, a bunch of my favorite literary characters have died as well. I remember two books in particular. However, it's been awhile since I've read them, so my mind's a little fuzzy on certain details:

Spoiler: The Sight by David Clement-Davies (Has anyone even heard of this book?)
I got attached to the entire wolf pack in the beginning and they all died one by one. And most of the deaths were pretty gruesome. And I got attached to Larka and really didn't think she was going to die. But she did :sadshoe:

Spoiler: Outcast of Redwall
One of my favorite all time characters from the Redwall series was Skarlath the hawk. Of course he was killed towards the end. Shot by an arrow if I remember correctly. A few of my other favorite characters from the series died as well, though I can't think of any others at the moment (and by series, I'm only counting the first 13-14 books, it gets kinda crappy after that IMHO...)

I can relate.

Spoiler: Orcs: First Blood
Right before the end, the old orc Alfray gets slaughtered. It comes practically out of nowhere and is so saddening, tears ran down my face all Acro-style. I loved Alfray a lot since he was the laidback, wise part of the group and really enjoyable, so his death was like a punch in the stomach for me.
