I'm very dissapointed no one made a topic about this. Shame on all of you!

To all the nearly 3000 people who died on that day, your families and friends still love you and you will never be forgotten as your lives were ended by the decisions of overseas terrorist groups. I also respect the first responders who reported to the line of duty in the minutes and hours following the attacks and now have severe health problems because you were doing your job. I pray that the world will never suffer an attack to this extent again even though it's fairly likely someday. :larry:

Plenty of worse things have happened, if we should have a memorial thread for every disaster, then the boards would be cluttered.

In all honesty I find your "I pray that the world will never suffer an attack to this extent again" quite insulting and only shows ignorance on your part.
Plenty of disasters of this and even bigger magnitude happen every single day around the world, rather then focusing on one incident; try looking at the bigger picture.

Shame on me?

Most of those were acts of Mother Nature, 9/11 was an act of terrorism by Al-Qaeda.

You don't post sarcasm when the topic is about a criminal act that killed close to 3000 people. But I presume you don't care so I'll stop unless you continue.

Well aren't you the eternal optimist.

Hey, get this, Aids kills more people in Africa every two weeks than died in 11/9.

Well if that's your attitude Ceres, come May 22nd, I'm making a memorial thread for the Exeter Nail Bombing which nearly killed some people but in fact didn't even hurt them.
For goodness sake, think about the Tea Shops and Hanging baskets! When will this reign of botanical tyranny end?

AIDS is a disease that formed, 9/11 was a criminal act. There's a difference between the two subjects.

Wow, this topic isn't getting as much respect as it should...so I'll take a moment of silence...

:sad-maya: :..................................................................................................

Silence over. Although 9/11 doesn't affect me personally, I do think it is a very tragic moment...but I'm also a conspirator who thinks it was all made to send in the troops to Iraq... :karma:

ok then...fist off id like to take a moment to say theres nothing wrong with a joke...making a joke is sometimes a good way to say you care (lets not go overboard with it though) and and as ceres said plenty of disasters happen each day around the world...reguardless of it being natural disasters, diseases, or even other acts of terrorism they still leave plenty dead and much destroyed...but still my condolences for those who have lost on 9/11

Yeah, 9/11 was bad, but it's nothing to mope about. Terrible things happen in the world all the time, just gotta cope and move on. If not, I'm sure we'd have many threads popping up such as remembering all those deaths of the Japanese and Jews from WWII, the slaughter of the Civil War, all those Native Americans who died when people from overseas started settling in the area, and so forth. The list could go on. Honestly, I won't be surprised if another disaster of this caliber or worse happens in the near future. Things aren't going to get better. This world is heading in a terrible direction and things are only going to get worse, not better, and we gotta learn to cope with it.

Which would you admit to given those two possibilities?

Eh?

Based on the nature of this whole topic, what the fuck do you think?
My goodness, it is you that needs informing on how to notice sarcasm in the first place. How can you take yourself so seriously? I'm British for fuck sake, sarcasm is what we do.
What is Ricky Gervais's profession? Comedian.
When did he say what he did about AIDS? In a standup routine.
What's the likelihood of it being a joke?

REALLY FUCKING HIGH.

I'm allowed to pray aren't I. And yes it is very likely another man-made distaster of this caliber will happen again. Question is how many lives will be lost and how much destruction it will cause.

You know, I didn't even think about it. I forgot. Once I got started college, it seems like everybody forgot and they're busy with their school lives. I really don't care that much. I feel kinda bad for not caring, but I want to move on. Yes, it was terrible. Yes, so many innocent lives were taken. Now it's true that what happened on today 8 years ago was terrible and nobody EVER deserves what the victims or they're families are going through. But at the same time, I think of all the events that happened afterwards: Muslim discrimination and pure hatred for them, the stupid "War on Terror" bull shit, and extreme ethnocentric patriotism. Like, "Nobody can mess with us or we'll "stick a boot in your ass, 'cause that's the American way(I hate Toby Keith)!!" Of course, there's nothing wrong with being proud of your country, but I can't think of ANYTHING that America has done to make me proud of this place. I really don't care for American nationalism and the sappiness of it all. What have we done that would ever really make me think, "Wow, this country is great!! I'm really glad to be living here." Of course, there are countries out there that make me VERY fortunate that I don't live in them, don't get me wrong. *sigh* I dunno...

personally, i mostly believe the conspiracy theory of 9/11.

it's the only thing that really makes it worth anything, as stated before, disasters like these are a dime a dozen.

it's only special because there's the distinct possibility the government used it as an excuse to invade iraq, afghanistan, etc., it's very possible they ordered it.
