You know what I'm sick of? People believing that the worst shit happens and believes the news. There is always another story. My cousin was on the news for raping a girl. He was 18, she was 16. They were engaged, and in love, and it was the mother that lied her ass off and said some shit like rape. Yet, what I read on the site was that he forced her to have sex.

When we are talking about child sexual abuse we generally don't try to put the accused in a decent light. Perhaps Law Enforcement is withholding that information until the trial now that I think about it.

The only way the facts matter for the accused in a sexual abuse of child story is if it proves the accused is not connected to the crime. Yes the media will try to spin the details to get more money but that happens more with National Media rather than Local Media Stations. Of course I don't know if this story has hit CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.
Most child molestation suspects are found guilty unless the victims refuse to press any further due to emotional issues. Parents have to be concerned about child molestation suspects to protect their children. This isn't even a stranger rape case, it's an act by a family member *kinda debateable but I see it that way* which is how most child molestation acts are done. If the woman is found innocent then she has that right to be considered innocent but must convince the community she is innocent because parents need to question some accused sex offenders that are found not guilty. It's not necessarily right but I understand their reasoning.

yeah, that's generally a good idea. but you could be framed even if you have nothing to do with the situation, you just happen to be easy to be framed in the particular situation.

And, innocent or guilty, I imagine people will never look at the son the same way again, so he's also deserving of pity.

I agree completely with this whole post, specially the "When you're accused, it's on page 1 of the newspaper. When you're acquitted, it's on page 6" part. It's a great way to describe what happens every day with newspapers.
Apparently, newspaper readers "buy" accusings more than acquittal. It's really sad that this is that way, since it shows how the average reader prefers a person or a party's suffering, rather than it's liberation.
It is a simple interpretation, but may be applied more than once. The point is the media sometimes change news so that they sound "darker", because, in some way, it's more of the readers' not liking, but interest.
Both the woman and the boy deserve pity, you're right. They've been throught enough already, and he wasn't in a stable mental condition, so cut them some slack.
It's horrid how the news linked in the first post of this thread try to say that she tracked her son because she felt like having sex with him. It's much more deeper than that, at least according to the text Coppo quoted.
