While I don't think he deserves the award(at least this soon into his presidency), what gets me is that people are actually pissed at Obama for getting it. Why be so angry at him?? He didn't even know he was going to get the award. At least be angry at the people who nominated him!! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!!

So let me get this straight. The Nobel Prizes can be given for actions already taken, or for intention and ambition. So let me crack on.  Obama has set in motion the closure of Guantanamo Bay. Obama has eased the tensions with Russia which grew under Bush over Georgia to the point of military threats, and re-befriended them.Obama has totally eased the tension with Iran, having got them to agree to UN inspection and outsourcing of Uranium to France and ze Germanz. Obama has united most of the US against racism. Obama's administration (through Bill Clinton) arranged the freedom of captured Journalists in Nth Korea, otherwise unheard of. I think he fully deserved this nomination NOW. However the nominations were submitted by February 1st, so at that point I don't really see what he had done. Maybe they employ psychics, who knows? |

I don't think anyone's specifically mad at him. Even Obama doesn't really think he deserved this prize. He's just the unlucky recipient of an over eager award panel. The only thing he's possibly guilty of is accepting the award faux pas. And, before his winning, the Nobel Peace prize was a great honor. Would you dishonor the award by refusing the honor? As much as I'd like for him to turn down the award, I can't judge him for that. I can however judge the award panel. |
