Ok, I'll just simply copy from 'The guiness book of world records'

'In July 2008, biologists from the Osaka Bioscience Instistute in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, identified a protein that is nescessary to effectively transmit visual information to the brain. Having determined that the protein is used in kinetic vision (being able to detect fast-moving objects) they named it Pikachurin (PEE-kah-YU-rin) after Pikachu, a Pokemon creature that is also known for high speeds.

Discuss. I think it's epic, being a pokemon fan.

It's old news and it wasn't especially interesting then either.
