I'm sure you all saw the film. I'm an idiot, therefore I did not. But this thread is not about the film.

It's about the REAL THING.

This forum is full of nutters of all description, so no doubt many of you think you've seen something otherworldly, a ghost, ghoul, spectre, poltergeist, grey lady, Aunt Edna who's dementia got so bad she forgot she was dead.

This is the place to let your beliefs out.

You're all free to give your opinion to the general topic however some people find these experiences moving, personal and life changing, so don't offend someone by telling them their dear Granny May wasn't really there.

I do believe in the possibility of the paranormal. You hear too many genuine stories for it not to be plausible. People are easily suggestible, but I don't believe that is always the case as even sceptics can have sudden changes of opinion from an experience.
I haven't been, erm, fortunate (if you can call it that) to experience anything of this kind, but it intrigues me.

Share with us your scares and experiences.

Sometimes when I wake up, I find my computer somehow turned itself on overnight.

And at the house I used to live in, since it was really old, things would get knocked off the table overnight.

That's about it.

Oh yes.

There have been many a night where I have been kept up because I thought I heard something.

I've had this sickening sensation that I had been haunted at night. That ghosts/demons are trying to possess me.

Yep, I'm a nutter allright.

OK, I'm 18. Is it bad that sometimes at night I still get that cold shiver like someone's around, get really freaked out and run like a startled deer back to bed?

Fuck it, I'm digging out my night light.

@Yaragorm: That's enough isn't it? Electrical products are odd anyway, they do shit, but things being knocked over would make me buy some kevlar and have the Ghostbusters theme constantly playing.

I get freaked out by these ghost hunting programmes. I don't know how real they are, but if they are, they're scary as shit. (I don't watch horror movies, can you tell?)

I don't watch horror movies either for the same reasons...

I wish I had a night light, it's be easier than waking up my dog whenever I need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night...

I once heard weird noises coming from my house's entrance, and it all ended with a thud. I couldn't sleep for 2 hours after that.

The next day, I realized it had been my cat who had been messing with another cat, and the thud was a mosquito screen, which is behind a window by the door, which had been knocked down by the cats. After they heard the mosquito screen, the other cat ran away, so they stopped fighting.

So, my cat owes me 2 hours of sleep.

Aside from that, I don't watch horror movies just because of this kind of things. My dad once watched "The Grudge" at night, and then had to turn on 4 lights to get to the bathroom, including the bathroom's light. He usually turns on just the bathroom one. When he told me, I couldn't help but laugh, but I wouldn't like it if that happened to me XD

But yeah, I believe in ghosts and spirits even less than I do Cryptids or whatever pseudo-scientific word nutters have come up with to try to legitimize it.

Post subject:  Re: Paranormal Activity

I've had a few jittery moments. One actually occurred a few months back. I was walking to the back door at around 4 o'clock to let my dogs out and on my way there, there is hallway that I have to pass. I'm carrying one of my dogs in my arms and I just happen to look down the hallway for some reason. I see a whitish figure at the very end, thinking that it was my brother-in-law up to get his daughter milk, I stand there trying to confirm my assumption (after all, my vision was still a bit hazy) and waiting for him to move.

Well "it" doesn't and, as I've seen far too many horror films, I'm not just going to stand there dumbfounded nor am I going to take the time to turn on the hallway light. So I mad dash over (dog still in my arms) to the dining table, which isn't far at all and flip on the light. I stand there, staring at the hallway from a safe distance, just to make sure nothing is making its way over to me. Once I calmed down a little, I let my dogs out as planned and walk back to the hallway, light still off, and the figure is gone. I stood there for the longest time, trying to find some sort of reasonable explanation, such as an opened door, but all the doors were closed and there was no way the light from the living room/dining room windows could be reflected into the hallway. What freaked me out the most was that my grandma, whom lived in my house way back when, had just died a couple of weeks prior to this. As to not freak anyone out at the time, I only told my brother.

As for horror films, I'm pretty much desensitized (a shame since I love feeling terrified :sadshoe:). The only movie that was able to scare me was The Exorcist. I saw the re-release in theaters and had a hard time sleeping for months. I would always see her face whenever I closed my eyes and while walking through my house at night, I had to turn on the light in the next room/area I was going to before turning off the previous one. But that was a long time ago and just for kicks, I watched it again on Halloween and found myself no longer scared (in fact, I found myself laughing at some parts :gant:).

Oh and by the way, Paranormal Activity was horrible. I was laughing through most of it... mainly because of my sick sense of humor... :uramidn: but seriously, I don't know what all the hype was about :yuusaku:

Oh wow. This thread reminds me of Cameras Lens Forums. Ah, nostalgia.

Anyways, since I don't have any genuine paranormal experiences, I'll just posts the ones that circulate around my college till later.

Spoiler: WALL OF TEXT
The Ghost Horse:

University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Fine Arts. Back then, this place used to be the College of Veterinary Medicine, before it move to the Los Banos campus. There's a Vet Med annex behind the current CFA, but either way all the remnants of the old Vet Med are still there. There's a building known as the Workshop. It used to be a stable for horses, and actually still looks like one. Now here's the thing. Supposedly, some time after midnight (around 1 AM), the sound of hooves can be heard. If you're in CFA at that time, you'll hear them. The hoof sounds will actually follow you around, but so far, no one's ever had any experience about the "Ghost Horse" being hostile.

Wandering Mother and Child (?)

Oho, I'm not kidding about this one. Tons of students have already reported sightings of these two. I think the sightings started more or less 10 years ago, during the preparation period for the annual Lantern Parade (December). A student was walking along the Bartlett Hall, and passed by the Female Comfort Room. Said student heard a crying woman inside, but didn't bother to look. But after that, the student sighted a little kid (unknown at this time whether male or female, but mostly believed to be female). The student thought nothing of it at first, but eventually the two supposed ghosts started making some really loud and disturbing noises. The two are believed to be searching for help for some unknown reason. Every time night events are held at FA, the Bartlett Female Comfort Room is kept locked.

Doppelganger and Darkroom Ghost:

The stories I've heard about these are pretty vague, and sound WAY too close to the events of Fatal Frame 3... Anyway, the Darkroom is definitely one of the creepiest places in all of FA. The chair inside swivels on its own even without any air current, and strange shadowy figures supposedly lurk there, hiding in a corner (When I first heard this, I thought, "WTF? YOSHINO?"). But yeah, I myself am a little shaky about having to develop pictures in there for Photography class, because of a story I heard. A 2nd Year Industrial Design student told me that they were developing landscape pictures in that room. She was developing one of a garden, when the image blurred and a woman's face appeared. But after a few seconds the image returned to normal. She thought it must've just been hunger or fatigue that triggered what she saw.

But another resident of the Darkroom that almost everyone believes to exist is the Doppelganger. Doppelgangers by definition are shapeshifters that take on the form of a particular person (or even animal) they come across, and retain that form for a certain period of time. Another 2nd Year ID student encountered one, and she was in the same group as the student who was developing the landscape photo. The group was about to leave the Darkroom since they were all done with developing the photos for their plate, but one was staying behind. The first girl asked, "Hey, aren't you coming along? We're gonna buy lunch and we're done here anyways". The girl stood silent and shook her head. Her groupmates were puzzled, but left anyway. On their way to buy lunch, they ran across their groupmate who supposedly stayed behind. They asked if she changed her mind. This time, the girl was the one who was confused, and said, "Dude... I wasn't even IN the darkroom."

The Fetus:

Probably the most recent spirit to be sighted at FA. This story was told to me by the Vice President of our org. Sometime around December 2007, during the Lantern Parade period, a fetus was discovered floating in a toilet in, again, the Bartlett Hall Female Comfort Room. Nobody knew who owned it. It was just there. The professors were furious at the discovery, and demanded to know who had the abortion. Nobody confessed. One prof threatened to expel the girl who did it. Still no one confessed. The fetus's ghost presumably still roams around FA today, every night, crying and wanting to know why its mother left it to die.

Ghost Whisperer is a terrible show, whether or not you believe in ghosts you can see that. Half of the time what appears is "An odd light" which is most likely a reflection off of one of the cameras.

I twice got my name yelled into my left ear. Once when iwas in the kitchen in the afternoon, and the other in my room.
It freaked me out pretty much, especially since there wasn't anyone else in the house at the time.

I've also seen a young girl dressed in red walk inot my room. Well, half of her. She had really long, wavy blond hair and a red cardi, red tartan skirt and shoes with white socks. My mum says it could've been my nan when she was younger, but I've never sen a photo of when she was young.
Crikey, I can still remember after, like, 2 years?

I do believe in demons and angels, but I also believe that all souls travel to their final and eternal place at death. I don't believe that they hang around to annoy people.

...Now, having said that, I have many occasions where I hear my name being called in the dead of night, and where I see shadows in the corner of my eye that look human but aren't there when I look at them straight on. I refuse to attempt to categorize them.
