If you're looking for help on the internet, you'd best be offering something in return... Et quand je dis cela, je parle des services, comme on dit, hein... On a more serious note, the chances you'd find someone here who knows sufficient French to teach you were slim to begin with. |

you only need two phrases "bonjour asshat" "les filles en france ne wear pas les pantelons" say everything else in english with a bad french accent and you're good to go |

To the people who actually gave me links, thanks. They're helping. To the guy with the "funny" translations (bonjour asshat, les filles en france ne wear pas les pantelons) I'm a chick, so the second one is void, and The first one is barely French. And to the peoplewho just posted their surprise: Why did you even? Post I mean. That's not an insult, just...why? |

I have the same opinion as KrazyKaro: Go and buy a CD of Rosetta Stone. That is, if you want complete basic French. Also, this is also a good place to learn. I learned from my dad, but I can't send him to you. |

Golden-Haired-Lawyer wrote: And to the peoplewho just posted their surprise: Why did you even? Post I mean. That's not an insult, just...why? No amount of reading the French dictionary is going to substitute from learning from a teacher and/or a French environment. Conversational French is mastered through...y'know. Conversation. With a person. People post their incredulity because the internet is probably the worst place to learn a language. I learned French by studying it for six years, and I'm damn near fluent in the language. This shit isn't instant. KrazyKaro wrote: Best thnk is to go and get Rosetta Stone. I lernt my spainish and 3/4 of my German from. Rosetta Stone is supposedly for providing basic language skills as a stepping stone to improve them elsewhere. If you read her post, she already knows the basics of French so getting it would be a waste of money. |

Well I'd offer my help but anyone who knows me can confirm my motivations would be questionable and the FBI are keeping close tabs on me. |

I'm French, but I don't have the time nor the qualifications to help you out there. What you need is a real teacher with whom you can actually speak the language. Désolé, mais ça ne va pas être possible ;( Good luck on learning French, by the way, it's not exactly the easiest language on the planet. |

KrazyKaro wrote: lol I used that when I was in Japanese (But some of the translations aren't that accruate and I had to fix them with a different translator) Also I'd like to suggest listening to Podcasts for foreign languages. I did that with Japanese and it helped me as well, and I have seen some French ones. They cover pretty much everything so I think casual French should be there. |

L_J wrote: you only need two phrases "bonjour asshat" "les filles en france ne wear pas les pantelons" say everything else in english with a bad french accent and you're good to go First, that made my day with both the "asshat" reference (I use that word in my daily life) and the French. Second, I'm in year 3 of French, and I'm okay with it, I don't know exactly how much you need to know, I mean, I can write sufficient essays in French. (My first language is English, just so you know...) |
