I love Patrick's Day. I met the President of Ireland on Patrick's Day a few years ago. Nice lady. My mother used to work in the Dublin City Council, so we got into a Denny's-funded breakfast and seats in the stand to the parade. Now she works in transport and I have to make do with RTÉ's crappy coverage of the statues around the parade instead of the damn parade itself.

Just kidding. I like St. Patrick's Day. And I'm 1/4 Irish, so I can actually celebrate it truthfully!

I like St. Patrick's Day.

My great-grandparents on my mother's side were Irish immigrants, so I'll be celebrating my Irish heritage :)

I just have to find something green to wear ._.;

Oh cool, people replied! :will:

Uh, anyway, I'm 100% Irish, so I'll be celebrating it. I'm going into town to see the parade tomorrow. I don't think I have any green clothes, so I'm just planning on wearing black like I normally do. XD

What a load of old tosh. A national holiday due to a bloke with a fairy tale about him and some snakes.

Give me St. George's Day off and I'll be content.

That reminds me: thematic avatar is GO! it's actually just this one with a green t-shirt, anyway.
Dammit, why isn't TinyPic working?

Okay, then, just picture my avatar with a green t-shirt. Just don't pinch me, it's TinyPic's fault...

Yay St. Patrick's Day!! Honestly this holiday really doesn't have much to do with the guy anymore. From leprechauns to chugging green beer. Yeah... XD

I love St. Patrick's Day. It's the "everything Irish day"!! I loved dancing on St. Patty's Day, even though most of them were elementary schools and retirement homes. Performing at pubs were the most fun though :D Tomorrow I'm going to be wearing a green track jacket that says "rinceoir" on the back as well as one of my Gaelic Storm shirts :] Hopefully I can drink some green beer!!

I don't care much for St. Patrick's Day; never do anything special other than wear something green.....

I wouldn't mind seeing the parade in Dublin or even in Cork or Galway but where I live it's just a few tractors going up and down the street so I shall not be attending the parade but I will be attending the Croghan festival today.
Nothing.

Y'know, it's kinda funny when Americans are convinced they know all about the Irish and practice Irish culture, they come to Ireland and are surprised at how little they fit in. Shockingly enough, nobody really gets drunk in daylight, Paddy's Day or not.

I love how Pierre is believing stereotypes. And I love how you're replying as if we also follow stereotypes and are drunk.

AKA, both of you are being a wee bit xenophobic. Instead of making comments about others, how about we instead just discuss the day?

Yo BSX I'm not saying I believe the Irish are all about drinking. I'm just saying that the drinking seems to be what everything thinks the second St Patrick's Day comes around up here. Tis a shame cause Irish dancing and music is pretty sweet.

You want me to discuss something with you? very well then lets discuss. I will tell you all about what I did and you can tell me what you did.
I went to Croghan hill which is an extinct volcano in the center of the country and it's tradition there that you light it on fire (burning grass bushes etc) it looks pretty spectacular when it's on fire apparently St Patrick visited the hill some time (I cant remember the story behind it.).

.:looby:. wrote:

The Guinness company has expanded to South Africa so what you had was probably the south African version (apparently there is some differences in the production of Irish and South African) and only the Irish branch supplies Ireland and South Africa supplies the rest of the world.

Nah, U2 are shite (except the song they did with Green Day. That was good.). I'd say Thin Lizzy would be the best Irish band. Wait till I release my album though. Then I'll be the best Irish musician ever. :egg:

Probably.

St Patricks Day = Alcohol (to many)
Alcohol = Drunk
Drunk = Aggression
Aggression = Fights
Fights = More Alcohol
More Alcohol = Drunk battle buddies.

Ironically though, I didn't have anything green to wear...so I took a green marker an suck it behind my ear...had it all day.
