I noticed the forum doesn't have a thread about the Olympics at the moment, and I was like :cody-shock2:
This is either because:
a) There's a similar thread elsewhere on the board that I haven't seen. In which case - lock, destroy and burn this thread ASAP :fire:
or
b) No one on a video game forum has any real interest in sport... possibly.

Anyway, for those not in the know, the Olympics are currently on in London (I should know, it's been on the news for the past seven years...). How do you think your team is faring at the moment?

As a fan of team GB, I'm kind of surprised that we haven't won more medals yet... (This was written on Day 4)
I never really expected us to do amazing in Archery, Shooting, Fencing and Judo, but I thought we'd have put up a bit more of a fight... It seems that in almost every sport we play, there's always a British competitor going out. :payne:

However, I do admire the spirit of most of our Olympians (such as Tom Daley, Rebecca Adlington and the entire Rowing team :kyouya: ) and I really do hope they win something out of these games, they deserve it!

At least we have the Rowing and Track cycling finals to come, so all hope is not lost! yet...

Anyway, how do you rate your teams performance (and the Games as a whole) so far?

Olympics don't really inspire such a patriotic pull out of me.

Apparently Britain took Gold and Silver in some event today so that's pretty good I guess.

Anyone else terrified China will just stomp all over our international faces in most every event? =D

Same here, honestly. It's not like I'm anti-nationalist or anything; it's just that I feel like a giant phony supporting athletes I previously hadn't heard of.

Fencing's been my favourite sport so far; lots of action and drama throughout. Thinking about taking it up when University restarts. Judo's pretty cool too.

Is it bad that I don't care about the Olympics. But it seems Team GB seem to be doing better than usual, but it could be everybody just bragging.

16 Golds for GB. I haven't been watching the Olympics, I couldn't care less about sports in general and yet...

...I'm interested in keeping track of how many golds GB has. I know it's odd but I do support my country even though I'm not watching/

Maybe it's some kinda home advantage for why GB is doing so well.

About the only thing I cared about in the olympics happened today.

Andy Murray (beloved Scot) finally beat Federer who has kicked him out of almost all tournaments he's been in near finals to take Gold for Scotland.

Yeah happy about that, he deserved it.

I don't really care about the Olympics (maybe because soccer and basketball are the only sports that I do care about), but I'm watching it anyway and boy, Brazil is surely sinking down the toilet. Our best hope at any other sport than soccer, César Cielo, got a freaking bronze medal in the 50m swimming.

I just hope Neymar fucking wakes up so we can finally get a gold medal in the only thing we're good at.

EDIT: Also, damn that Usain Bolt, that guy can't be human.

Obviously the good 'ol pompous USA is demolishing, but the swimmers in particular seem to have very awesome personalities. The basketball team though, which is dominating, is dominating because we've pretty much assembled a douchebag factory using all of the asses from our best NBA teams. So, naturally, it's shoot first ask later. But whateva works, I guess.

Interesting bit about feeling like a phony for not having been previously engaged - I totally agree. There are too many people who will claim to be a Phelps fanatic for the first time ever just because they 'think he's hot' and then next thing you know they have a 25$ poster for no good reason

Yeah happy about that, he deserved it.

Every one of us Scots wept at that moment.

It's a shame him and Robson didn't win the mixed doubles, but the fact that he had already played a tennis match would have given him a bit of a disadvantage. And they still played well.

Well, we here at Israel are really really sucking this year. I dont think there is a single Israeli finalist this year. We had a pretty good runner, who claimed after the first round that his shoes were stolen :S Yea, we REALLY are sucking this time.

Austria sucks.

No medals this time.

Zero.

The beginning was quite fun, just with all the ups and downs

So much for Brazil's "emerging" basketball team. Dudes just took a shit on the court and left. Bunch of sissies. And against FREAKING ARGENTINA, no less.

Well, at least we still have volleyball, boxing and soccer. #PrayForNeymar #DontSuckBoxing

EDIT: WELL, SO MUCH FOR THAT. THANK YOU, NEYMAR, HULK AND RAFAEL, YOU GUYS REALLY DID A NICE JOB OUT THERE NOT PLAYING SHIT AGAINST MEXICO WHO IN TURN HAD THEIR TWO BEST PLAYERS OUT OF THE FINAL. I guess the "soccer country" is no longer

Well with a country as fat as it's population odds are you gotta get a few high quality people. It's only fair. However I am glad that someone beat China, those guys scare me with how they train people.

Also how bout that closing ceremony? Pretty weak I thought well until the Who showed up but was too late by then.

Finland (aka "useless speck of fly-crap at the edge of the world"). The plain resentment i have towards it should be a big enough clue -__-"
