The news story

So I recall how CR occasionally posts interesting news and stuff and I'd like to share some.

So back in the 90s a lesbian couple befriended a gay couple and asked them if they would donate sperm so they could have a kid.
This was necessary as at the time donor clinics didn't allow lesbian couples to receive anonymous donations so they agreed on a private donation with one of the men in the couple as a friend.

His only condition was that he would not be held parentally responsible in anyway for the child and he wasn't included on the birth certificate.
A couple years later and the lesbian couple wanted a sibling and thinking it would be nice for the children to have the same father they asked him again for help and he agreed under the same condition.

Skip ahead 10 years and the lesbian couple have broken up, the Gay couple have been in a civil partnership for several years and after several threats to shop him out to the CSA, the CSA comes running demanding the guy does his fatherly duty and provides support payment for his children at £26 pounds a week.

S'far as I know the lesbian lady who doesn't keep the children is under no financial obligation to provide for the kids.



Personally I think it's a major affront of justice and the lady who grassed him in should take some severe reprimands for breaking a verbal contract. It's made worse by the fact that since then a new law has been brought in that would have prevented it then, apparently the donor is calling to get the law applied retroactively.

However some people feel as the father he should provide support whether it's fair or not or it's his fault for doing a shady private donation anyway.

″donated″ sperm.

I mailed my city's water treatment facility a few months ago and asked if they could send me a write-off on all the sperm I've donated.
How was I supposed to know you weren't supposed to send the donations through the drain?

Anyways, after their reply I sent a sample in an envelope, requesting them to filter all water currently under treatment and send any donations that matched mine back to me.

What they ended up sending was a restraining order and a court summons.

So now I know not to ″donate″under any cirCUMstance.
