I'm the only true nerd on my floor. I mean...who else would have blatant PW referrences on her whiteboard, a whole shelf of one of her desks covered in manga, and...DUN DUN DUN...her entire anime DVD collection with her. >.> Don't even get me started about my Kakashi keychain and my Mario plush keychain on my backpack...

On top of that...I'm the resident biology nerd of my floor...which means the freshies who are majoring in biology will knock at my door at unholy hours...and I will show off my Darwin poster. >.> Yes. I'm one of the queens of the nerds there.

I despise high school clique labeling. Everyone is a nerd for the things they like. In my opinion, being nerd is just being into something so much that you acquire a lot of knowledge, media, and items associated with it. If you happen to collect all the latest CDs by pop group #3 and read their interviews, you're not considered a nerd. But if you enjoy something less accepted by the mainstream like, say, Phoenix Wright, you're a nerd. Oh, the hypocrisy.

That said, of course I'm a geek. That's what popular culture has deemed me to be.

What the hell are you talking about. This isn't high school labeling and you just described what nerds or geeks or whatever are.

My closet is filled to the brim with nerdy merchandise, comics, and video games. Everything near the edges of my room is stacked with boxes full of more nerdy items (bar the area in front of my bed, which is full of instruments). My wall is covered with wall-scrolls. I also painted a picture of Nana Hachi on the back of my door when I was bored one day. I might also slowly be developing a 2D complex. That doesn't even cover half of what makes me so nerdy. I'm neither vocal nor in-the-closet about it. It's just an aspect of me. And quite frankly, as long as you don't act like a total dipshit around other people, to them, the extreme geek thing is just something people consider to be a part of you. There aren't any negative connotations (erm, at least on some respects) as long as you're at least a not-retard.

Mmmmh, I think 'Closet Nerd' is the most accurate term describing me. I don't think of myself as a geek (where, apperently, going to parties are alpha omega.... which I don't), and I wouldn't classify myself as a plain nerd, because I hold my interests for myself, because I know nobody else are interested in what I do. Of course, this makes me look like a boring person, but meh. It's better than rambling about some terms that leaves your 'audience' dumfolded.

I wouldn't say I'm THAT nerdy or geeky but my obsession of things like Phoenix Wright, Tales of and Zelda makes me possess traits of them. Then again I'm on the computer way too much not to be a nerd. So nerd away!

I work at a bookstore. I have a bookcase overflowing with books, and I still haven't gotten everything from my parents' house. At my parents, I still have a small stand filled with video games and anime, both DVDs and VHS tapes (oh, how I can remember waiting for Slayers TRY to come out on VHS). I have at least four filled sketch pads, and several notebooks with fic notes/snippets. I started going to gaming conventions when I was little, tagging along with my mother, and went to several anime conventions on my own. My convention goal is to go to Dragon*Con with a decent costume. I own a Mac, and I know just enough about it to make some decent graphics. I'm not as geeky as some (read: my boyfriend), but I have enough points in various realms of "geek" that I can proudly call myself that. Now if only I knew as much as my dad and boyfriend know about guns... then I could proudly add "gun geek" to my list. I know shooting and troubleshooting, but not much else.

I can't say for sure if I'm a nerd or not. I don't like social stereotypes so I tend to ignore them altogether. Thus, I don't identify myself with any of them. So, I can't really say for certain. However, I do obsess over some things (video games, anime, and manga to name a few) and I don't have much of a social life, so I guess that qualifies me as a nerd. BTW, I'm quite reserved and introverted so I don't show my nerdiness off for the world to see.

Pretty much a closet nerd here too. Most of the people only know that I'm a semi-hardcore gamers but my interest in PW, Megaman, Metroid ect. are only known buy those close to me (minus a major part of my family, no one is a gamer so I'm starting to ask myself about when, where and why did I become a gamer in the first place). But I'm very damn proud of my nerd-iness!

Jocks, goths, preps, nerds, and other such labels are commonly applied to people based on stereotypes about their appearance and interests. I don't think there's anything wrong with being a geek except for the fact that there's so many negative connotations associated with the term. PS: Yeah, I've loved anime and manga since I was in elementary school. Fun stuff, eh? I like to think that I have some legitimate interest in Japanese culture though, besides just the pop culture icons.
