I've liked video games ever since I was little, too. My big brother used to play a lot of fighting games with me. (We still do the occasional round of Last Blade and KOF.) Plus my parents are addicted to Tetris and Doctor Mario.

I was totally into Sailor Moon in elementary school. I used to draw pictures for all my friends.

I just thought it was kind of a cliche stereotype. I obviously can't convey myself properly because the internet lacks tone and body language. I'm done talking about it. I already stopped a few posts back.

Because I associate "nerd" with sci-fi books, TV shows and so on, and I don't have an interest in that past the Hitch-Hiker's Guide, I normally just call myself a geek.

I'm not a subtle one, though.

...I wear t-shirts from thinkgeek.com. It's pretty bad.

I's a geek too. What's sad is that I have no geeky/nerdy friends. =/

*laughs* I used to draw pictures of Tira from Sorcerer Hunters and Lina from Slayers for my classmates in high school. I look back now and am shocked, because hell, Tira was in her battle clothes! While it was sexy, that's a lot of skin showing. I'm surprised a teacher didn't yank it from me because of it!

That's most anime heroines, isn't it? All about fan service. :hotti:

God, and when I look back at my elementary school pictures now, they're just ghastly. XD Although the picture of Kaede from Last Blade that I did in middle school is still semi-decent. I wonder how many of you have done illustrations from your favorite anime/manga/videogames when you were younger?

I am very much a nerd. Poor hygiene, poor fashion sense... And obsessing over stuff that most other people don't give two thoughts about (coughphoenixwrightcough).

I would say I'm mostly a video game geek. But then again, that's just me. My friends think I actually care about flirting with guys, and who likes who, and the new flavor of lip gloss. I don't give a fucking damn about lip gloss. And I'm too young to have a relationship. So like the always find something to gossip and tell me and I make myself look like I care, but my mind is usually on school work. I care a lot about school, I guess. But I also care about video games. I might care about clothes but cosmetics isn't my thing. So I'm a nerd in whatever people think I'm a nerd in.

I'm just obsessed D'= plus I pretty much live on the internet >.> ....<.<.... people here are more interesting, they have interests I actually like other than the things my friends usually talk about at school which I couldn't care less about most of the time (trying to get some friends into video games, manga and anime so I have something to talk about with them ^^" so far it's only working slightly...) reality bores me too much, and I have very little patience when it comes to people I think barely hold any intelligence....which I don't like about myself because I snap at my brother all the time because of it ^^" and as said, my social life doesn't reach much further than the internet....which is fine 'cause you guys are awesome *gives you all a thumbs up*

no idea what it makes me, and I don't really care much either what anyone calls me, it's not as if calling someone something would change who they are in the end ^^'

A lot of my friends are just as geeky as I am when it comes to video games and stuff, I hang out with the boys mostly. I struggle to find girls who share my gaming/anime interests, cept for the few I've loaned my fruits basket boxset to XD lipgloss is nothing to build conversation on!

I'm a total geek but most people wouldn't be able to tell by looking at me. Sometimes I get my nerd on by wearing a Star Wars T-shirt or saying something incredibly dorky, I'm like that when I'm in a good mood.

And yes, Kaira, us gamer girls do have an edge! Or at least that's what I tell myself :edgy:

This topic reminded me of something that happened a few weeks ago.
I was in York (England) For a day trip with my grandparents and one of my little sisters, and we passed a shop that could be classed as a 'Geek' shop. We were walking past it, when some random guy in a hoody stuck his head into the open door, and shouted "NERDS!". Two seconds later, One of the customers in the shop shouted back, "We're geeks, nerd's use computers!".

So, I'm a nerd.

Geek would be more insultive than nerd...

Geek: More otaku ish less brain.

Nerd: Brainiac.

I dunno if it has different meanings in different places. Until a few weeks ago, I'd never heard anyone else in England say geek. I think nerd is a more collective term here, for non popular kids. Or anyone with glasses or good grades(Sadly, only the first for me).

I must be a closet something. - Maybe a closet psychopath.

I own a large and varied collection of Japanese animation on DVD, dozens upon dozens of manga, and a vast collection of video-games than I've never had the patience to complete.

I'm very picky about who I'll reveal such a shameful secret to, mind you. It's not like you meet any old somebody off the street and be like, "By the way, I'm into all this Japanese shit you've never even heard of!" - It feels wrong. You feel like a complete tool.

Then again, on a certain level, I'm unashamed of my naughty little hobbies. They make me happy. I grew up with this stuff, and I feel I don't really want to let it go so easily. And why should I?

Nobody's ever had a problem with it, but there have been sour moments. With girlfriends, mostly. I tend to end up with people who have interests entirely opposite to mine. Opposites attract? - Pfft. Bullshit.

Also, I seem to have a habit of coming online in the last few months that has begun consuming my life, as we speak. Quite literally. Way too much time on my hands, yet, I couldn't be happier to do this sort of thing. I know two, three people tops who actually share the same interests as I do. I need the outlet so bad, I swear, I almost crave it.

I was without the Internet for a while, like two years at the most. I pretty much cancelled my own personal subscription and said to myself, "Right, time to grow up!" - Since I've got back to speed with it, as I've been living at home again, I'm feeling quite nostalgic. I missed it, honestly.

The time I do actually spend pretending to be a social butterfly, I'm usually drunk or overdosed on caffeine. Or both.

I don't know if I'm a closet geek, or a closet nerd, quite frankly. It's not like I don't get out, but these days, I feel I'd rather stay in more than I used to and either chat online, or catch up with my video-gaming. I've got such a huge collection that has been gathering dust these past few years, it really makes me want to cry. So much money, wasted, on stuff I've never even touched, and stuff I never even knew I had in the first place.

Maybe I'm in the closet, entirely?

But, I refuse to admit it. At least to myself, that is.

Heh. I just did the 2 years of barely any Internet as well. Bad move. 90% of my friends I met and communicate with via the Internet. I discovered that we suck at staying in touch by other means :)

Embrace your inner Internerd! :)

Well. I can't really tell the difference between "nerd" or "geek."

I play video games every chance I get (sometimes for over 6 hours straight), focus on school work, and wear glasses.

So if I'm either a geek or a nerd, that description would fit into one of them.

I'm a big nerd. I love Monty Python,(is that considered nerdy?)Farscape, Red Dwarf, Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Star Trek, Star Wars, Space Balls and a whole load of other nerdy books, films, and TV shows. I probably have over 200 video games. I spend a lot of time on the internet spamming posting on boards. I also watch all sorts of crap on New Grounds, check Home Star Runner weekly, and watch way too much Happy Tree Friends to be non-violent. I also read web comics way too oftenl. When if I go to college, I'll probably study something computer-related. I have a very non-existent social life. Do I sound like a nerd yet?
Half of my T-shirts have super heroes on them or are Nintendo shirts. I have a hoodie that is red and just says "Nintendo" on it. I always wear cloth pants, never shorts, almost never jeans, even if it is 110 degrees. I always wear a T-shirt with a long-sleeve shirt over it, again, even if it is 110 degrees. On a few occasions, I will button up my long-sleeve shirt if I want to look less casual.

My friend calls me a geek because I get good grades.
I'm to crazy to be a geek/nerd and she KNOWS it.

I'm self-proclaimed graphic geek and ecstatic because the computers at school have photoshop and imageready :D

Are we talking the stereotypical nerd/geek like so? :gregory:
Or not the stereotypical type?

No matter. If it's non-stereotypical that is being looked for, I classify. When I get the chance, parts, and $$, I usually will build computers. :godot:
