Presses by Police, Even Innocent Confess in Japan

It's actually rather disturbing that the police go to such lengths. Writing down names of the person's relatives and forcing them to stomp on them? Holding people and putting them in questioning all day, every day until they confess? What is this, 1984? At least now I understand why Phoenix is always worried for people when they're in questioning.
How do you feel about this? How do you think it could relate to GS? Discuss.
