I couldn't possibly list my favorite bands. I don't really hold any higher than the others, and depending on what I'm listening to, it changes constantly between which one is "my favoritest favorite" or just "one of my favorites".

I only have a few at the moment, but I still need to buy more of their albums to make an honest evaluation. However, from what I've heard so far I like them.

-Rammstein
-Linkin Park
-SlipKnot

Actually, I have Rammstein's 5 major albums (Herzeleid, Sehnsucht, Mutter, Reise Reise, Rosenrot) so that just leaves Linkin Park and SlipKnot as my "undeclared" bands.

I don't mind the occasional old band or artist (i.e. Queen, Michael Jackson, Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, etc.) but none of them catch my interest enough [for now] to be my favorites. I have a lot of buying to do over the summer.

I'm also prone to techno, rave, and trance as long as there are no loud "THUMP"-ing noises or "BOOM"-ing noises that sound like someone playing a bad rap song at full blast on their car stereo. The kind you can hear from five blocks away.

Wow, how can people like so much music? I'll probably be called 'sad' or something for this, but I don't like much music - in particular mainstream music - because the lyrics aren't meaningful to me. I therefore prefer to listen to music without vocals.

Umm... I have a really random taste in music...

  • Bowling for Soup
  • Queen
  • The Pillows (they did the music for FLCL)
  • Angela Aki
  • Phil Collins (blame my sister)
  • The Beatles
  • The Black Mages
  • The Dixie Chicks
  • Barenaked Ladies
  • SOME of Weird Al's stuff
And probably more I'm forgetting. I prefer individual songs to entire bands, though. I can't think of a band that I like every song from.

I like lots of movie, TV and game soundtracks. I've tried listening to some plain orchestral/classical music, but I don't think it's all that good. (If you have anything you'd like to recommend I'll try and listen to it.)

The 24 soundtrack is truly amazing. Sean Callery's really gifted there. I also like most of the original Final Fantasy music, but some of the orchestral music as well... in particular Final Fantasy VIII's. (Dance With The Balamb Fish is one of the best video game tunes in history.)

And if I must stay properly on topic, I also listen to the Black Mages sometimes. (Though, FFVII: Advent Children's One-Winged Angel beats any Black Mages tune.) Erm, I listen to Billy Talent sometimes. But it's really irritating now, because everyone likes them, and I've heard they toured with Simple Plan. The thought makes me cringe.

Edit: Three Days Grace? *shudders* Even if the music actually was good, how can you listen to music that makes a mockery of the English language like that? It's like that movie, Thirty Days Notice. Am I the only person who pays attention to the fact that there should be an apostrophe at the end of "Days"? The same applies to that band's name! It's disgraceful! Butz
