Well, it's finger-DDR. And I slowed a few of them down to 75%... so it's not all that amazing, really.

Tried to notch that neoMAX up to an A. It's one of my favorite tunes of the large bunch of nearly 1000 songs I have.

I usually couldn't, either.

Then I noticed that I still had it cranked up to 150%, which is what I usually play my songs on. NOT GOOD FOR MAX! XD

I have that on my iPod.

Which makes it kind of funny when people ask me what I have on my iPod. Beethoven! Whoop! :edgy:

I find it ironic that Beethoven Virus, a song made for Pump It Up, ended up getting "known" through Flash Flash Revolution.

Well, you're not the majority of the population. :P

Pump It Up is my favorite step-rhythm game, but it's semi-obscure, and unless you're really into DDR, chances are it'd fly by your radar.

At the Palisades Center? That machine was messed up so bad last time I played on it. It was lagging, no joke.

Okay guys, I went ahead and got Stepmania. I'm more or less wasting my days doing nothing else in particular, so I thought I'd go ahead and try this.

Where is a good place to start looking for songs? You know, good quality stuff too, like, J-Rock or anime openings, that good ol' weeaboo junk.

EDIT: Found all I need, figured out how to get everything to work, and just .. wow. This is pretty awesome.

Look, Mikker, we convinced someone such as HH to play Stepmania! :ack:

:larry2: We must of done something right!! XD

Anyways, for good songs, try the website Stepmania.com or the Sims DB on FlashFlashRevolution.

And if you want all the fancy arrows and themes check this place out.

i have spent the last five years of my life playing DDR. I've probably spent enough on it in tokens to buy my own machine. We recently got a Supernova upgrade in town, which is pretty awesome; though I'd prefer an ITG2 R21 so I can play my own songs.

so yeah i think it's a pretty fine game.

If you want pretty much any official song (except for Supernova and Ultramix 4 jeez sorry), there are packs here:
http://stepmania.naota3k.com/index.php? ... 0Releases/

It's called Opengroove stuff because they're all converted around and ready for support in ITG projects. If you have a nearby ITG2 which is at Revision 21 or higher, it has an option to enable custom songs. Many machines have this enabled (It's in the operators menu, so you can't enable it yourself). All you have to do is put whatever songs you want on your USB card in ../In the groove 2/Songs/*song name*. Don't use a folder directory like you would normally in Stepmania (like Songs/DDR/*song name*). ITG2 R21 doesn't support banners or backgrounds either, so just take those out for space. The rule is, your song has to be a 48100Hz OGG and under 2 minutes in length. Everything in that directory I linked is pre-converted for your pleasure.

And yes, they also work great in Stepmania. :sal:

Actually, I cheated. Put the music speed at x0.5, and set the speed to 2.

Still pretty damn hard, and it took me arround 10 tries to get it right. And I couldn't even REALLY get it right, as I was aiming for AAA, where you must not have ANY 'great' or below... Half speed means it's equal to a normal 'heavy' song, really. It's a whole diffrent song at that pace.

Managed to get it up to a 'B' at normal speed, though.

While reading these last few posts, I was somehow inspired to try for an AAA on MAX 300. Much to my suprise, it took me more than one try. It took me a whole 2.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/C ... cture3.png

Unfortunately, the first time I did it, I didn't actually know how to take a screenshot, and the results screen timer ran out... I should turn that off. Anyway, I looked up how to screenshot, and then I did it again right quick. My score was better this time, so, good for me.

Man, years of not playing this garbage song really payed off =P. *brags*

I could make a few AA songs, if you want. I though about it before, but over the years, I've been less interested in putting videogame music in SM. At least, gamboy-styled music. It wouldn't be hard at all though, I could probably whip up a whole Ace Attorney simfile in 2 or 3 hours... Background/Banner not included.

You should use orchestrated mixes rather than chiptune rips. 99.9999999% of the time, pure chiptunes songs don't mesh well at all in Stepmania. They'd be better suited for Keyboardmania.

Well I also thought about that, but the problem there is that the songs are just too long. I was thinking about stepping just a section of one of the medleys, but I have a Mac, so I can't find any good music editing/cutting programs. Hell, I can't even change files to OGG or use the length patch. My whole shit is beat.

Don't see why not. I posted a couple'a mine in the Ouendan 2 thread. Nothin' against it in the rules, either.
