-The same repetitive blah-blah in EVERY Game in it's series (Pokemon. As much as I like it.)
-Sloooooow characters (Harvest Moon for GCN. BLEARGH.)

I just thought of the one thing that probably annoys most people about RPGs!

Lack of RPGs where a female is the main character.

Uninspired characters. If I can't care for the characters, why should I continue playing, hmm, Tales of Legendia?

Weird leveling system. If I have to go here, jump here, and stand on my head here just to gain one level, I'm NOT going to be a happy camper.

Required mini-games. No, I don't want to play Blitzball. No, I don't want to do Puzzle Boxes. If I wanted to, let me do it on my own time. The only game that made me like doing the mini-games was Wild Arms 3, and that's because some of those puzzles were hard. And, you know, you could do them on your own time.

Wild Arms 4. There was so much about it that made me just grind my teeth. Battles were a pain, the puzzles were stupid, and the characters bored me to no end. Plus, story? I've been known to stay for a lot. I've gotten through a lot of ToL, and I finished FFX-2 and Shadow Hearts: From the New World. All of the above were weak points in the series. But the plot for those at least kept me somewhat interested! WA4 simply failed to keep any of my attention.

And, of course, as the previous indicates, plot. It doesn't have to be new and exciting. Just handled well.

One of the things I REALLY hate in RPGs ,and part of the reason why I don't play them often, is leveling up. It's just so damn annoying to run around for 4 hours trying to power up just to defeat that particular boss and the once every-two-seconds-random-battles settings quickly go into a three-minutes-until-a-monster-shows up system. Why do I get random battles when I don't want them and then vice-versa? Argh.

As for plots, most of them are generic and boring and what usually saves them is their unique battle systems that goes beyond the "I'll wait until it's your turn" tradition.

I read some of these, some I agree with, some had me in stitches. What I don't like about RPG's is that most of the final bosses are not as strong as the secret bosses.
I'm also not liking the fact that they tend to overdo the story sometimes like in Kingdom Hearts 2.
I'm surprised that people forgot to mention this one thing in RPG's that always annoyed me...
