Recently, I've been reminiscing about the good ol' days back in the mid 1990s when Nintendo was at its prime before hitting the slump between Sony and Microsoft. Sure, they're making a comeback now but that's only after nearly decade and they still haven't released a lot of outstanding games.

The Super Nintendo? A true classic. Right up there with the Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis. Great graphics (for 16-bit), a great library of games, two-players, simple yet effective controllers, and a slew of great games from Mario to Mega Man. I still own a Super Nintendo but that was only after purchasing it off of Amazon.com, so I'm never going to see my old console again. But, hey, this isn't about me and my tragedies. It's about what is arguably the greatest video game console of all time.

I feel that since it's such a legend amongst the gaming community to this day it should just as well deserve its own topic. So, discuss away.

SNES was magnificent. That's all I can say.
Don't mind me, just passing through.

I missed that generation because I wasn't that big on video games at the time. I went straight from the NES to the N64. I have been emulating some of the games from the SNES and I have to say it really does have some great games on there.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

The SNES.

Me and my brother loved the SNES so much back then! My favorite SNES games were:

Spoiler:
Final Fantasy II and III
Super Mario World, All Stars, RPG, and Kart
Chrono Trigger
Kirby's Super Star
Starfox
Donkey Kong Country 1~3
The Legend Of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Megaman X1, X2, X3 and 7
Street Fighter II, II Turbo and SUPER Street Fighter II
Tetris Attack
Yoshi's Island
Paladin Quest
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Lots and lots more...ETC.

They were all fun from the past generation with my brother and my friends...I miss it. :larry:

Quite possibly the most overrated anything gaming has ever seen.

Everything is overrated, silly. To what degree in which it's overrated still makes no difference because it's overrated nonetheless. There's really no point in arguing what's overrated and what's not.

Also, somehow, I knew you'd be the first odd one out on this matter.

Did anyone say Breath of Fire? I love that game. And Mario Paint! I used to make lots of animations and music to go with them. :edgy:

Incorrect. There is no context in which someone could call the Phillips cd-i overrated. It'd even be rather difficult to call the Saturn overrated.

Don't get technical, dammit! Now you've ruined my somewhat perfectly good argument! >_<

Regardless, it's still a great classic console.

Sure, but it isn't the greatest system of all time.

My all time favorite system. This is the time where I felt graphics and gameplay were finally balanced together. I still have mine, but it's ay my parent's house in my old room. I don't have enough room in my apartment to put it anywhere :(

I recently got a Super Scope 6 from ebay too...

I never owned a snes. the NES was simply too much fun to play I skipped the next generation entirely.

NES >>>>>>>> SNES

(that's not saying that the super nintendo is bad, but I disagree with what have been said on it being the best gaming system. I honestly think the NES is. Probably also the PS or PS2, in later years, but NES really had an impact no other gaming system could ever hope to get.)

The SNES wasn't an important in history as say the 2600, NES or PS1, but it certainly had a huge number of classic, brilliant games to its name. And my favourite game of all time, Link to the Past...

This is what gets me angry about games today! If you pick a random game today it will most likely suck. But back in the glory days of the SNES, if you picked a game even if it was a licesed one, it would be amazing! The SNES had way too many good games i cant even begin to tell

I did remember that the SNES had Super Game Boy...it allows you to play your regular Game Boy games in that cartridge and you could use these coloring paint options to mess around the screen, and change Game Boy picture skin looks.

Putting a Pokemon Red, Blue, Green (Jap), Yellow, Gold and Silver ver. games will give you neat Pokemon picture skins too!

The snes was a great age...TONS of great games... It was back when people thought more about gameplay and fun rather than having the fanciest graphics and sounds like it is today. That's why its near impossible to find a game that you can play for hours on end and have the same feeling you got when you first played it, because its all about the graphics, no one cares about fun; sure you might get a game, say, for the xbox 360 or somethin, and think "hey, this game is pretty nice", soon after you take it out of the case and play it for the first time, but a while later you'll feel lethargic and want to move on. I'm not sayin that all games for the xbox are like that, cause i've played some great ones, but generally speaking, when the xbox 360 and ps3 came out, they were concentrating more on graphics than fun. Games like Chrono trigger, Super metroid, super mario world/ all stars, and street fighter 2 will live on in our hearts for all eternity.

SNES had the first TRUE Zelda game.
SNES had the greatest 2D platformers of all time.
SNES had Final Fantasy 4 and 6.
SNES had super Mario Kart and RPG.
SNES had super Metroid.
SNES had a lot of other awesome games.
SNES was the first system with games intended to be easy (before that, games were short so had to be hard).
SNES was the first system with a lot of games that could save (NES had only a few).
SNES was AWESOME!
