Re: 2D vs 3D. Fighting Games witch D is better?Topic%20Title

Actually, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is even more broken and unbalanced than the Soul Calibur games. It's quite shit, really.

Third Strike, Guilty Gear and the SNK fighters are vastly superior.

MvC2 isn't nearly as broken as the original Tekken 5.

By broken, we mean that one character, or a set of characters, are vastly overpowered that its hard to give a KO to them, but its easy for them to receive a KO.

For example, in MvC2, the broken team, that everyone uses :nick: is Psylock, Cable, Sentinle, or Cable, Storm, Magneto, or Storm, Dr. Doom, Magneto, ect.

GGXX Had a broken character or two, especially some of the infanite combo loops, like Slayers Inf. Bite Loop, and Sol's Dust Loop, Thankfully, #Reload, Slash, and Accent core fixed most of those problems.

And so on and so forth... :godot:

That's right, I'm producing something. Expect something to come out of my new production studio.

To be honest, and this might sound crazy, Marvel isn't really as broken as everyone claims it is. I mean, when you think about it in terms of just character-tiers, yes it's probably the most broken piece of crap ever. However, if you think of it as a team game, then it's a lot more diverse. There are a lot of teams that utilize lower-tiered characters either through their assists, or a combination of another character and their assists. Of course it takes a lot more practice to utilize them in real matches, but c'mon, it's the same for ANY fighting game.

I dunno, if you ask me, all fighting games are broken or unbalanced in some form or another. It's just the matter of accepting these faults, and:

- Work with them to your advantage,
- Work around them with a lot of practice,
- ..or just go to VF5 if you're that worried about balance

When ssbb comes out, that game might not be broken.

Well, in my honest opinion it really depends what kind of fighter you want to make. If we're talking about a Dead or Alive style open environment fighter (think: the environment is your biggest ally and enemy) or a Marvel vs. Capcom style fighter, it can make a difference. For example, 2d style fighters if they are fluid, responsive, and very fast, then we have a winner. (Think Marvel vs. Capcom 2. That right there is probably the best 2d fighter ever made.) However, if you use a formula such as Dead or Alive's the environment is your biggest ally and enemy, then if done correctly (but not cheaply, such as a character that can throw others arrow like a rag doll with ease, or have their way with other characters simply by how fast they are IM LOOKING AT YOU JAN LEE) then we also have a winner.

I'm in the middle as far as which I like more. I really love marvel vs capcom 2, but I can't stand most of the street fighter games (despite having some of the coolest fighting characters) and I really don't like a majority of the older mortal kombat games either. And then for 3d fighters, I don't think I've played one yet that has made me dislike the game. Sure Dead or Alive is frustrating, but all games can be. (Although I really didn't like the 3d mortal Kombats either...)

So yeah I'm neutral as to which I like more. :yogi:
