My friend has the PSP version of The Simpsons game. It looks alright, but I think the very first Simpsons arcade beat em up that was made from KONAMI is still the best.

I heard that all of the versions contain lots of numerous video game parody cameos! (The PSP version has a spoof of Moleman being Mega Moleman)

Desregarding the rather rude and childish responses of the above posters, in all seriousness this game doesn't look all that hot to me. I loved The Simpsons: Road Rage but that's about the only Simpsons game I've actually enjoyed. I liked the arcade version but...it's a FRICKIN' ARCADE VERSION! You know what arcades do? Gobble down your hard-earned cash like Maya at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Of course, I've only read reviews and those were from one source. I have yet to watch an actual review or gameplay video so my opinion may change.

Also, why would I want to shell out $60 bucks for a SIMPSONS game of all things? That kind of moolah should be reserved for hit titles, not cheap spin-offs.

It's actually a good game. If this only had the simpsons beat-em-up as a unlockable material, I would officially label this the best.

As one of the few serious replies to this thread (oh, go on, shout 'spoilsport' right now and get it out of your systems before you explode):

I bought the Simpsons game.

The camera in it is worse than the Capcom Camera of Death at times, I will grant you that. And sometimes the play is a bit wonky and will not respond correctly. It's also easy to beat and can be finished in some few hours if you're patient enough to sit through falling off a marshmallow cookie for the third time because the perspective is skewed.

I have to admit that the levels really made me laugh--the paintings in the museum were hilarious, and the entire "inside a videogame" level took me forever to finish simply because I was cracking up so badly. Marge's mob-gathering ability was great fun; I'd never seen that done before. And it was a minor source of amusement to hunt down the cliches of videogames. The fact that they used proper voices for everyone made me happy, as well.

But really, I don't know that I would have paid full price for it had I known back then what I know now. It's very much worth at least finishing once, but unless you're a big Simpsons fan, you may just want to rent the thing, or wait until it's on sale/you find a used copy.

If I were out to cater to the masses of people who lack an attention span and don't understand the concept of coherent thought, I would be in the Naruto fandom, not this one.

Thanks for the concern, though.

I didn't want to say anything Mr. Balrog, but the internet is a place of reading also. I bet you read all sorts of things on the internet that are longer than a two paragraph post.

No, silly, that's chatrooms. There's a difference. Also, if someone has a lot to say about something, they're not going to want to bother to condense their post so much just so some lazy person can be lazy.

Now, about the game, I'm not sure one way or the other... maybe I'll get the DS version, but I have to find out more about it first. The only Simpsons game I've played was Hit & Run (which I have), but a lot of the story missions are really annoying and while it's fun to go around smashing random vehicles and people, there's only so much of that we (my siblings and I) can take before it starts to get boring, since that's pretty much the only thing we like to do in that game.

Re: simpsons the gameTopic%20Title

I'd avoid the DS version like the plague, if I were you. It's a very basic sidescrolling cash-in.

I'll look for info whenever I remember to, but if I get any version of it, it will have to be the DS one because that's the only system it's on that I have. But I need to get an idea of whether or not it looks like something I'd like. In fact, I'll do that now while I'm still thinking about it.

Edit: Hey, wait a minute... side-scrolling... how did I forget Bart's Nightmare and Virtual Bart? And that Krusty game which I forget the name of... now I'm flooded with nostalgia...

But then again, short games disappoint me by being short...

I was tempted by this game, but haven't purchased it as of yet. I was once a HUGE Simpsons fan, many years ago, have beaten the arcade game (one long afternoon with my brother and LOTS of tokens), owned far too many simpsons games from old nintendo, gameboy, and sega games, to computer games and even the Simpsons screensaver. I honestly loved the arcade game, Bart's Nightmare, and Virtual Bart the most for some reason. BUT BART VS THE WORLD AND SPACE MUTANTS AND WHATEVER ELSE> JUGGERNAUTS OMG! AHH!!!

This game I probably won't buy. It's just another chance to make more money over the holiday season.. and the only reason I'd buy it is to bide my time between beating Mario Galaxy and waiting for SSBB, Apollo Justice, and Harvey Birdman to come out next year. Or.. you know... those other games... Crysis and such..
