I don't think I'd call it Auto-Haste. When I battled against Evrae, I figured out it's vulnerable to Slow, but ONLY ONCE! If you cast it more than once during the entire battle, it misses. Since Evrae uses Haste halfway through the battle, I think that's the best time to use Slow and nullify its Haste.

Evrae is tough, especially with a certain character that would've really helped being absent during the battle. I definitely had to overlevel everyone. I trained until Lulu learnt at least one of the Ga spells, and Tidus knew Hastega, and the other characters got as much training as those two. Evrae's resistance to all four basic elements will reduce the Ra spells to a mere 500 damage, but the Ga spells will still deal about 1000 damage, which is sufficient.

I also think Evrae is vulnerable to one of the four Breaks, but I can't remember which. Nonetheless, put Auron in your starting party, and use his Breaks to start off the fight, before pulling back. After that, keep in Tidus/Rikku, Wakka and Lulu. Tidus should cast Hastega, and use Cheer to boost Wakka's damage and defense (which, along with his high HP, will make him a good survivor), and switch to Rikku for healing, Wakka should just pound Evra with his ball, and Lulu should be casting any Ga spells she has. Tell Cid to move back whenever it's possible! Don't rely on Salvos each of his turn, since he only has three and his turns come slow, so use his turns to pull back.

After replaying the game, I found out some new things about Evrae. He actually can't be slowed down for the second half of the match. Once you deplete half its HP, it casts Haste on itself, and if you use Slow, it'll automatically cast Haste on itself. In order to keep up, you should probably overtrain Tidus until he learns Hastega, or use a Chocobo Wing if Rikku stole from a Cactaur back in the desert. I also found out it's vulnerable to Power Break and Mental Break. It's also vulnerable to darkness! (But you'll need to use a Smoke Bomb, and even so, he's still kind of accurate.)

Although it's tricky (since Cid is SO SLOW), but if you can time it right so you move away between the turns that Evrae inhales and releases Poison Mist, you'll gain a good advantage. To keep moving away over and over would just encourage it to use Swooping Scythe. Close combat is actually more effective than I originally thought, but moving away is important, of course.

FFX is one of my least favorite Final Fantasies. It's overhyped to the 9th degree...although not as much as VII.

The early games were better imo, when they weren't so gosh darn in love with their own plot and graphics. (a quick rundown of III: "You now have to go on a quest to save the world. We're not going to explain why it has to be you and 3 other orphans, you just have to go do it." "Okay, bye.") There was more gameplay. Give me IV over X or VII anyday.

FFX is a great rpg the only downside is tidus does sound whiney at times and they are far too many cutscences in the game most of the time i feel like i am watching the game rather than playing which is not what a game is for otheretha\n that it is a great game i prefer ff 6 and 9 myself over 10 thought

Metal Gear Solid 2 was that way but Final Fantasy X is ten times better because it has a lot more game play than MGS2. So getting back on topic who here knew that you can choose Gatta or Luzzu to die?

Holy Crap How?

Everytime I get to that part it's always... umm the same one... I cant tell them apart...

Luzzu is the one with red hair and dark blue trousers, Gatta is the one in the manly chainmail bikini.

If you witness the scene with Luzzu tellking Wakka something important on Mushroom Rock Road, Luzzu will die. If you speak to Gatta twice after his cutscene where he whines about guarding the command center, then say that he should be in the front lines each time, Gatta will die.

I've just broken into Sin, and I need a good place to train and get my Sphere Grid maxxed out.

If that's the case, I'm staying away from the older games. Thanks for the tip.

I definitely don't see FFX as overhyped... I know a pretty good amount of people who didn't like FFX at all.

I thought it was an easy game, but I really enjoyed the graphics. The music was touching, and I cried at the end. D:

However, Tidus annoys me. >__<;

Here is the link to a video that has two of the best songs I've ever heard in a Final Fantasy game.
I'm wondering though, what are the songs called, and where do you hear them?

While the final Seymour battle song is freakin' awesome, I don't like the fact that you can't buy a music sphere of it after beating him. Yet they have Wakka's own theme, which is never used in the game at all, spare the Sphere Theatre.

until i bought the soundtrack, i really depended on the sphere theatre for music - i agree that's pretty flawed. games need a replay option in breath of fire 3's style - you receive exp for the last boss like for any other fight, watch the ending, save, keep all characters and simply play on. then again, bof3 had a shitload of other things you could do.
