You're quite wrong: It was fun aside from the Godawful writing.

I concur. I also liked Shadow the Hedgehog (don't kill me!) I think that the series belongs in 2-D. Thank god that the cast from the TV show is finally off of the games. MAN they suck!

This topic fails without mention of Mario and Sonic. But now it doesn't.

And I just love Sonic Rush-it was so much fun and the music was awsome. Yay for Blaze.

Haven't played SOnic the Hedgehog(Next Gen), but I hear it is a big pile of suck mixed with a cup of glitches and a little furry mixed in. Adn a crappy new Eggman(=a design I'm glad didn't stick around). guess it is worse than Shadow the Hedgehog(which I hadthe unpleasentry of playing).

Also, I liked Sonic X...'cept Chris-he was whiney and selfish('specially towards the end of season 1).

Can't wait to get Secret Rings though, it seems fun.

Join the club, Dee. I hold a grudge against 4Kids for bastardizing Anime.

Also, you were better than the new actress.

The Sonic series, in my opinion, died when Yuji Naka left.

Yuji Naka didn't really do much anyway, he just designed and coded the levels.

Also, you was Amy Dee? Wow, thats interesting :3 But don't blame 4Kids too much, SEGA were the ones making the decisions about VA's, 4Kids just accepted the offer.

WHAT? Words can't describe how little you know, about Naka or the 4kids situation.

Naka helped design Sonic as a character (though that was chiefly Naoto Oshima's job, despite many statements contrary), was the lead programmer of the first game, and a major game designer in terms of crafting the gameplay. He made major contributions on the Genesis games. He didn't have nearly that impact on Sonic Adventure or the games after it, since he was just the producer, but still.

Deem Bristow, Eggman's VA from SA to Heroes, died. Sega wanted Mike Pollock, the Sonic X Eggman VA, to replace him, but Pollock isn't allowed to play the role of 4kids-licensed characters outside of 4kids works, so they had to bring in the whole 4kids crew. 4kids played a major role in that - if they weren't so stingy with their VAs, Sega could've just taken Pollock.

The SONIC THE HEGDEHOG games have been famous since the SEGA GENESIS era.

I have SONIC MEGA COLLECTION PLUS and SEGA GENESIS COLLECTION (Sonic The Hegdehog and Sonic The Hegdehog 2 have SOUND ERRORS which isn't ported perfectly in the Sega Genesis Collection :sadshoe: )

However, some of 3D Sonic games are alright but SHADOW THE HEGDEHOG felt very horrid...(My friends told me about it, but I never played it)

So, THAT's why recent Sonic games have been on the decline:).
That explains a lot.
The VA issue that you brought up is interesting.
However, I think we can all still agree that 4Kids is the bane of all anime fans. Sure, they introduce some pretty good anime to the general public, but at the cost of the story.
If the stories of most anime are considered to be very...deep and interesting, is 4Kids implying that its target audience (the kids, obviously) is too stupid to understand them? The "simplicity" is best left on PBS, ya idiots!

My heart goes out to the original works that were utterly destroyed by 4K.

Here's a thought: how about a 4Kids forum?
Spoiler:
$100 says 4Kids CAN'T butcher a H-Anime into a kiddie flick...and make it sell!

Yes, he was good in the the Genesis era, we can't fault him for that BUT:

I was talking about the 3D era. There's no doubt that after SA2 he lost his touch. The two Ports of the GC games didn't have any real extra work done to it, and even introduced new bugs. Sonic Heroes was overcomplicated and bad storylined, and he let Sega USA have free reign over Shadow. In the end, he may have been a great programmer and designer, but he wasn't that much of a producer.

But thats speculation, for all we know SEGA may have done it just to preserve continuity. Thats their official reason for changing the characters VA's. If it was a joint desicision by the two parties, then the should both share the blame shouldn't they? I mean, SEGA could've just found another Robotnik somewhere else and kept the Ryan Drummond & Co. , but they threw them out without notice.

I also don't like your accusation that I know little about Sonic. :/

Hey, on that whole VA thing, didn't Sonic's actor(SA,SA2) offer to move to the area but they still turned him down? I htink Sonic Cult(possibly not safe for work...or kids, but its not that bad most of the time), has a transcript of the interview.

I totally remember the old cartoons. Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Underground were both made purely of win. In fact, when I was six or seven years old I would often go to the nearby Blockbuster and rent the cartoons on video (DVDs were non-existent back in '95-'96); along with the rawness that was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon (the old one, not the new watered-down pile of steaming garbage), but that's another story.

I never read the old Sonic comics thought I used to own one that I never so much as glanced at.

Good sir, then how DID you think I would react :F

Ah yes, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was great. Mainly as it stuck to being a comedy, while still keeping Sonic like Sonic (Fast, blue, catchphrase spewing :D). Grounder and Scratch were awsome, always scheming and arguing (Well, they ARE technically brothers). I haven't watched that much Satam but Antoinne and Rotor are awsome :3

Comicwise, I've read some fleetway and they were very good, its a shame they went vamoose. Not read any Archie though, sounds a bit Soap Opera like to me XD
