You were probably looking at the Japanese only remake of Ultima Underworld on the Playstation, it featured polygonal graphics and was released around 1997/8.
And I never said I played it when it first came out... ;)
I played it when I was roughly 5 or 6, after that I played through all the decent shooters that were out, in chronological order. In between bouts of Daggerfall. >_____>
