Actually, Kenji, since you mentioned Marathon...

Spoiler:
The Legendary ending strongly implies that Master Chief is the Marathon protagonist.

Master Chief has been believed to be the protagonist of Marathon since Halo: Combat Evolved among the fandom. Don't ask me why, but they knew. :S

Actually killed my love of the Marathon series a bit. >_>

A bunch of people think that, but I really don't believe it. Bungie said themselves that Halo and Marathon are not related.

Well, not truly. The original head of Bungie said they were, and that was why many of the Halo gun have some references to Marathon, as well as the logo on the Pillar of Autumn and the 'Mjolnir' class cyborg being both Master Chief and the unnamed protagonist of Marathon.

However, the 'new' Bungie claims no relation between the two. I'm more inclined to believe they are related, since the original founder seems to imply that as well, regardless of what the people who took over after him state.

On an unrelated note: Anyone manage to find all thirteen skulls (and/or the unknown skull)

I actually bothered to this time, since I could get some achievements and nifty armor. Grunt Birthday Party = awesome skull.

If you like listening to bloggers masturbate with words, that video review is your cup of tea. Otherwise, here are the key points that were drowned out by Yahtzee's no-doubt stellar wit and intellect:

  • Halo 3 had a short single player mode, and can be construed as marketed towards the multiplayer crowd, showcasing XBox360's robust online infrastructure (if the Live service and other games haven't already done that!). Much of the replayability and memorability of the first two games was built around the multiplayer experience, and perhaps Bungie developed and refined the multiplayer aspect to a fault.
  • Halo 3 has a very mainstream, and very rabid fanbase. Halo 3 has a very mainstream, and very rabid fanbase. Halo 3 has a very mainstream, and very rabid fanbase. Halo 3 has a very mainstream, and very rabid fanbase. Halo 3 has a very mainstream, and very rabid fanbase. Halo 3 has a very mainstream, and very rabid fanbase. • Added to the checklist of things the new generations of gaming STILL need to fix: overuse of bloom lighting, Artificial Stupidity.
  • Halo 3 does everything well, bringing nothing new to the table. While it is hailed as "the standard" by fans, this means it is simply average. (Truly, a wakeup call for the state of the FPS nation?)
  • Video game reviewers do their job well, bringing nothing new to the table. While hailed as the standards by their audience, this means they are simply average. (Truly, a wakeup call for the state of the witty game reviewers nation)

Halo not only has the most rabid fanbase but the worse online community on Xbox Live (the PC game honor belongs to either Counter-Strike or World of Warcraft)

I was at a friend's house where we played a few games against some people online (I was considered a guest on his live account) and hearing curse words in different accents isn't convincing me to play with anyone else besides friends... :yogi:

From what I known so far, in my knowledge, it's one of the first FPS that was decent on Xbox and with a excellent Live capabilities.

Of course, I could be wrong.

I got Halo 3 the day it came out. It's the reason why I haven't been on the forums these past two weeks.

And yes, what I got was indeed the Legendary Edition, just like I predicted! You can envy me now. =)

However, sometimes when I look at the Master Chief helmet staring straight at me, I get creeped out. o_o
