I have it on my #1 on my game queue for next rental but I highly doubt I'll get it since the availability is low :ron:

I might just rent skyward sword so I can beat the crap out of that loser villain in the game haha. *awaits Cat's rant*

Why do you think it's called "Hard," my good man? It's definitely a step up from normal. A lot of the risks you can afford to take in Normal mode are a lot... well... riskier in Hard mode. I recall once sending Stahl against a Fighter during my first attempt at Hard Mode. Stahl had a sword equipped. The fighter had a 1% chance of a critical hit and a rather slim chance of hitting. A critical hit would have been exactly enough to kill Stahl in one blow. Three guesses what happened.

...Admittedly, that's more a matter of the RNG being in a bad mood than the inherent difficulty of Hard mode.

Black Kyurem is physically inclined but doesn't get Dragon Dance or any other boosting moves

It also can't deal with steel types unless it runs a mixed set

White Kyurem on the other hand has nearly flawless coverage with Draco Meteor, Fusion Flare, and Ice Beam, all of which are special attacks on an special attacker which means there's no need to invest EVs in attack or use a nature that weakens one of its defenses

There's a lot of non-uber legendaries, too. The Lati twins, the legendary bird trio, the genies...

Death Count in FE:A=3. I think with each death I find a way to prevent it. And this time number 3 was Chrom. My bad though... but now I can go and level them up and hopefully maybe get Donnel after they level up a bit.

And everytime I see hearts in the barracks I freak out because I want Chrom to be married to whoever I want him to be married to.

But I should get Gold first thing that way I can get my guys.

I haven't played a Pokemon game since Pearl, so I'm not as knowledgeable about that series as I am about other game series from Nintendo. I was into them as a kid, but I sucked at them and could never get very far. The only Pokemon game I ever beaten was XD, and I beat it using only an Espeon and an Ursaring, which are the first 2 Pokemon you get.

So, I started playing Catherine. The idea that the story changes depending on what I say in text messages and similar is a pretty awesome idea! I will say this though... the voice acting? Okay, two in point. Vincent voiced by Troy Baker... fine... you know, as long as he doesn't start spouting about being a Hero and all, I can take it. But Laura Bailey? Freaking LAURA BAILEY as Catherine? THE Catherine? Catherine has lost all hotness that she potentially could've had with a different voice. No. I cannot deal with Laura Bailey playing Catherine - who, given the slight information I have about this game, I think is a succubus - and still think Catherine is in any way hot or likeable. I can't. Michelle Ruff for Katherine is okay, her voice is neat. But... god... LAURA BAILEY? JEEZ!

Also, I hate block puzzles. I might not be able to finish this game. I lack the good 3D Thinking for doing this. :ron:

You didn't look into the game before going out and purchasing it? I'm surprised considering you don't care for a lot of the English voice actors that Atlus tends to choose for their games.

I knew some things about the game - like, what, I think there's an "Incubus" Ending for Vincent? But I overall went into this game rather blindly. And while the back of the box shows puzzles, it's a small part and nothing on the box itself says "Solve puzzles" or anything. And I honestly did not think of checking the voices when I thought of the game - kind of bought it on impulse since I saw it and thought I'd better buy it before it's gone again.

And while the voice acting is okay, it does use VAs I don't like. But even Michelle Ruff (who voiced Yukari in P3) is actually pleasant to listen to this time around. Maybe cause she isn't a bitch who yells at me for no good reason and isn't a high voice. My biggest problems with the voices, really, are Sera and Snow-I'm sorry, I mean Laura Bailey and Troy Baker.

I guess I'll just keep their scenes into the idea of "dubbing this over FF XIII scenes" for the sake of making fun. Especially if Sera tells Snow they should not give a flying crap about marriage and Snow agrees. That would be fun.

And by default I am apparently getting a Katherine ending, since I tend to not like cheating and I know that I shouldn't be an ass to Kath. After all, it's not HER fault Vince cheated!

Also, horray for internet video guides on how to finish the puzzles~

Oh yeah, they don't like her cause she NAGS Vincent into marriage - which she doesn't really, it's more her parents ask about her relationship and that she should be getting serious. She nags him about his drinking, his smoking, his uncleanliness - when, really, the scene where she nags him the most about it is after she tells him that she might be pregnant and, if she is, that some serious changes need to happen.

Spoiler: Katherine Spoiler
Maybe they don't like her cause she lied when she told Vincent she was pregnant on Day 4?

Or maybe they hate her because she doesn't have boobage shown and isn't sexy and seductive like Catherine. :ron:

I mean, I will eventually get the endings of where I get Catherine and all, but without aiming for it, really, I just get Katherine.

Just a question. Were your first experiences with Troy Baker and Laura Bailey with FFXIII? I was just curious if it was more their characters you can't stand or just their overall voices. While I agree I didn't care for Michelle Ruff in P3, I've liked her in other things she's been in. I just wanted to ask because I've originally had poor opinions on certain VA's at first because of their first impressions on me as characters I didn't like.

They were the first time I consciously knew that I was hearing Laura Bailey and Troy Baker. They might have been in other games I had played previously and just didn't notice their voices because I didn't know them, or they were more background/additional voices and so not very memorable.

Yes, I admit I do not like Sera Farron or Snow Villiers. But my problem with Laura Bailey and Troy Baker - alongside Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Young Bosch - is that they are never made to change their voices. I don't know if it's because they can't or because the producers won't let them, but it's always the same voice over and over and over. Even when Laura Bailey actually used a higher voice for Martha in Knight of Ratatosk, I still heard Laura Bailey herself. This is terrible because it makes it difficult to differentiate between the characters she is playing, so while I will maybe want to be able to see Sera, Martha or even Cheria from Tales Of Graces f as separate characters, I can't because the voice sounds the same and interchangeable. So all her voiced characters end up becoming one big mush of the same person in my head.

In opposite, look at Suzuki Chihiro. He voices Luke and Asch in Tales of the Abyss - and while technically the only difference is that he lowers his voice and goes a bit huskier for Asch, there's still a difference that makes it audially easy to see them as separate characters. When I heard Suzuki as Hikami in TokiMemo Girl's Side 2nd Season, his voice sounded like a natural blend of Asch and Luke - but he also sounded different enough that I could say "Hikami is his own character"... except, I admit, when Hikami starts yelling, in such moments I definitely hear Asch.

Back to Catherine itself, I read on TVTropes all the lovely spoilers now. So the one thing I predicted due to a sarcastic statement is already "ruined" but given that even the page says they have some hints at it, I dunno if it's a good twist... as for who the pupeteer is behind the nightmares... quite honestly, it sounds like a total slap out of the left field, but maybe the game gives better connection to it once I go through the scenes myself. Although... seriously... Mutton? Okay, sheep-theme going on but... the way the boss looks then... okay, it's Atlus, they like to do weird things...

- No more 'wave-dashing' because directional dodge was removed
- Effects of 'L-canceling' or 'soft landing' significantly reduced
- Game speed is slower compared to Melee. I believe it's a bit faster compared to Brawl
- No more 'Ledge-guarding' since you can grab on to the ledge even when someone else is on it.

Melee was definitely the most 'hard-core' in the entire series with more mechanics to exploit in higher level plays. That's why I still love it so much. The new one is more relaxed, but still incredibly fun.

I figured you'd comment on Vincent being voiced by Troy Baker. It's a good fit for the character in my opinion, but I can see how it annoys you if you're biased from your FF experiences.

About the puzzles, it's just something that needs to click in your mind Cat. I was pretty bad at them when I started the game but at the end I was able to complete a level from the tower of Babel, where all blocks fall in a randomized pattern (no guides will help you there!). Like math: do similar problems long enough and you'll start knowing how to find the right answer.

As for the Katherine or Catherine ending. I have to admit that I also ended with the 'good Katherine' ending. More for the sake that I didn't wanted to be manipulated by Catherine and for being fateful, but it felt like a rather dull ending. Also a lot of choices in the game don't make sense when you stay faithful. Since you are constantly deciding on which C/Katherine in the game the cutscenes should follow accordingly. Then why when the bar is in total blue (faithful) is Vincent still sweating buckets at the end of the game when my (and therefore his) decision is set from day 1? It doesn't make sense.
If you go down the Chaos route however... the story makes a lot more sense AND become interesting in another way. I recommend you play the story again Cat. My second run was a lot more pleasant than the first one since the story was better and you should have a knack for the puzzles by now.

But my problem with Laura Bailey and Troy Baker - alongside Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Young Bosch - is that they are never made to change their voices. I don't know if it's because they can't or because the producers won't let them, but it's always the same voice over and over and over.

At least with Lowenthal and Bosch, it's because they keep getting shoehorned into roles using the same voice. Which makes no sense because they both showed they could pull off natural-sounding voices in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, and then never again.

About the puzzles, it's just something that needs to click in your mind Cat.

It doesn't. I was never good at puzzles, especially block puzzles or the 3D-Environment-Thinking required to do it. I may see that there's this tiny part that is a repeat of "Grab 2 Blocks, grab 1 Block above, push 1 Block to side, go down and press the 2 Blocks to the side" and do that again, in the other direction. But only in the Rapunzel stages. I can't work very well if something is chasing me like the bosses or the damn thing will fall if I take too long.

And since I am working on the Rapunzel stages, I wanna cry - I just want to unlock some damn Persona 4 music in my game! Why do I need to do this extra difficult shit to get them? What, did they realize that Persona 4's music was kinda better than Persona 3 FES/Portable's music and so made it more difficult to unlock? 128 Stages, guys! Hundred-Twenty-Eight!

I figured you'd comment on Vincent being voiced by Troy Baker. It's a good fit for the character in my opinion, but I can see how it annoys you if you're biased from your FF experiences.

I dunno, I don't think he sounds pathetic or whiny enough. I mean, this is a guy who spends a week cheating on his girlfriend and wishy-washing all over the place the entire time instead of growing some and telling Catherine to Gee-ing The F Out and telling Katherine that he fucked up, but he doesn't really feel comfortable with the idea of getting married.
I dunno, maybe I was expecting him to have a Tidus voice, due to his lack of guts.

And can I just say: what was the point of changing it to Catherine and Katherine? To help those stupid English speaking players to notice a difference? Cause if so, it kind of really shoots itself in the foot with later scenes with Vincent yelling to release one of them, but the pronounciation is identical - I know that some of the later scenes kind of circumvented this by having the subtitles say to release "her" when the voice acting says C/Katherine... but other points, it's just dumb, since it isn't done all over the place.

Spoiler: Catherine Day 5 Spoiler + Other Spoiler
The guy calling and saying he's "Catherine's boyfriend"... KIND OF makes the potential problem of Katherine being the one he means to be wrong or heavily unlikely, and that Catherine is lying to Vincent. If they did it in every scene, fine, but not pick and choose, it just creates plot holes.

Also, in my current file, Todd died. Oops. I talked to him whenever I saw him on the landings or in the bar...

Oh and Catherine being a succubus? That was kind of obvious from the get-go. Even before the game was properly revealed...

Oh, I'm gonna play the game and story again and all, to unlock every ending. Though given that I have read what happens in every ending, can't say the story makes more sense if I go the Catherine route. Quite honestly, the reason for the nightmares is incredibly dumb - and then, if you go the extra mile to really find out what's going on, you're told that the reason you were initially told about the nightmares? Is total bull, it was just to get you (The Player, yes, not Vincent, The Player) a new lover... It's Atlus, they do stupid, insane shit like that...

Well in Fire Emblem Awakening Laura Bailey does the voices of Lucina. And she did her voice different than when she did the voice of Lightning. Lightning's voice was a bit cold. As for Lucina when she was "Marth" her vocie was played in a manly way so the players wouldn't know that "Marth" was actually a girl until the mask got cut off and the voice changed. :gymshoe:

Light was voiced by Ali Hillis, who also voiced Palutena. Serah was voiced by Laura Bailey.

*inhales* Oh sumguy already corrected you.

You know, much as I like the Multiplayer aspect of A New Beginning, potentially giving you access to stuff you generally have later, it kind of ruins the game, too... I mean, I'm glad I got a Silkie Egg without having to wait until Winter Year 2 or having 10 Chickens hatch on my farm. But somehow the trading sucks... well for me since I'm in Europe and most players who offer to trade with me are in America so... time difference... I just want an Amethyst...! :larry:
