I like Metal Gear Solid. Only played Snake Eater but I liked it. But truth be told, the boss fights suck, except for The Boss or The Sorrow. The rest were too boring and tedious to my taste. But hey, I liked the cutscenes, the protagonists wears an eyepatch and the characters are enjoyable. The gamepky is ok, but sometimes I just want to jumo and break the guy's neck.

What Link joining Mario Kart 8 actually meant

Also, I heard of the Memories Off dating sim series. It's basically like most dating sims, you get a girl during highschool but SOMETHING always happens that breaks your relationship and then you can choose to either try to patch things up with her again or try to find love with another girl, with the old relationship's memories still haunting you.

Or something like that. I haven't played it yet, but I wanna. Thank goodness they are out on PSP.

I finished Persona 3 and I've ordered Persona Q for the 3DS to keep the streak going. One thing about the ending though...
Spoiler: spoiler for P3 and P4 final
Why did both games end with a giant floating eyeball at the end. Is that just how persona does things?

Spoiler: P3 and P4 Spoiler
Eyeball? Well turns out that Persona 3 rips off Majora's Mask and it turns out the MOON is Nyx itself... so it ended there.

For P4, uh, the eyeball - if we are talking about the eyeball boss Ameno Sagiri - is NOT the actual end of the game.

Spoiler: P4 final
To be honest I didn't see the ending of the game with P4. I was looking at a let's play and that got cut after they entered the hot springs. I saw the anime to get to know the story. and in that version of P4 they first fight Adachi and after that A giant floating eyeball in the sky. Seeing the moon being Nix really made me think that the endings were similar.

It was fun. Although I still think this game has some areas where they could improve, which they did with later installments, so can't complain to much there. This game definitely has a certain charm with the way how you interact with the characters and their stories. It's not all that deep or groundbreaking, but I liked it for what it is. The combat itself is pretty fun with lots of options to experiment through the persona's which you can customize. I also like the sense of progression you get from this game. Every day you get better with certain stats or improve your social links and since you have a 'year' you can really feel your character grow.
So I'd say in summary: it's charming, but it definitely has some flaws. Which I'm going to list now.

- Although you have so much to do during daytime (social links and stats) the evening time is severely limited. Especially concerning the social links. Sometimes I'd just sleep early because I really had nothing to do.
- Boss battles are a grind. You overpower them or they overpower you, there isn't much leeway. Even if you try to use something like a magic barrier against a magic user the game can 'punish' you for that and start using powerful almighty skills. Way to punish my exploration of tactics P3.
- The special bosses are ridiculous. If even at max level with the best gear you need a specific guide with a list of specific stuff to even stand a chance then it's just unreasonably hard. And not fun in any way.
- The ending was 'meh'. It closes the storyline, but I didn't really feel a great sense of accomplishment or anything. Also the 'true ending' is a bit to similar to the 'bad ending' for my taste.

Ah well. I enjoyed it for what it was, but my expectations for persona Q are quite higher then what I experienced with P3.

The Anime actually has 26 episodes and not 25. The 26th covers the True Ending of the game.

I was talking about Persona 3 Cat, not 4.

Got a lot of them done. The only ones I didn't max out were:
- Magician ( the dude who had a thing for his teacher )
- Strength ( sports manager )
- Fortune ( Culture club )
- French transfer student ( don't even know arcana)

The rest were all maxed.

It's 1:25 AM now, I'm going to re install Katawa Shoujo and play the armless chick's story tomorrow.

I never got around to playing hers, I wonder if it will be better than the burned chicks' story?

(I highly doubt it, but maybe I'll be surprised!)

Mh, I wouldn't say it's "better". Then again, I can't say that any of the stories were better than others.

I don't blame you on the kid who had a thing for his teacher that dude's just creepy. Though the Strength girl was the first one I dated (and therefore clearly the actual choice since the first one matters the most :kristoph: ). The Fortune guy it's a shame you missed out on, since Fortune Arcana has a bunch of the "Growth" skills which let you learn experience on Persona's you ain't even using.

As for the French transfer student I missed him entirely.

Still I suppose the better question I was looking for is, what social links did you LIKE most?

Why do people dislike the kid who falls for his teacher so much? I mean, sure his delusion that they'll get married is exaggerated but it's not THAT uncommon for a student to get a crush on a teacher. Also transfer student Bebe is temperance. He's not worth it. (None of P3's are in my eyes, but that's a different matter)

Because he's creepy? I don't know how bad he came across it's been a while since I played. I just don't want to waste my time on losers who make sexy jokes about their teachers.

Also in fairness I think I tried to reconcile with him at one point but it'd been too long and his arcana had reversed so I just left him alone.

If we decided to not do a social link due to what the character does - and it was possible - I would love to not do ANY social link in Persona 3. Yukari is annoying, I just wanna smack her around whenever she opens her mouth, Mitsuru needs to take "common sense of plebs" lessons, Aki... by god what was his social link again? See, majority of them are so terribly bland or forgettable, I don't even remember the social link of the ONE decent guy that was dateable in the female route.
But yeah unfortunately we have those automatically increasing links... it'd be fun to play the game with no social link done.

No, but it is uncommon for someone to actually make serious plans for the future regarding that crush.

Something just occurred to me regarding Michelle from Harvest Moon: A New Beginning. She's an unrepentant gold-digger, but giving it a little thought, the typical method of wooing someone in this game pretty much boils down to showering her (or him if you're playing as a woman) with gifts. Given that "custom," it makes sense that someone might try to make the best of it, especially if the gifts in question are things he/she especially likes and/or would benefit from. I've come to think that Michelle's nature is largely Natsume poking fun at how the player typically goes about getting a spouse in the Harvest Moon games.

In which case they are actually going against their custom, since you get 1.000 FP for just partaking in a festival and another 1.000 if you happen to win, if it's a competitive one. So you can actually get married just fine without ever giving them a single gift. (Unless they hold blueprints in which case you need to give them at least one gift eventually)

C-A

PS: Whether it's poking fun at the costum or isn't, that doesn't excuse Michelle's bitch attitude.

I found my HM Game case but the game was not in the case..... I'm now sad :( I looked in the box of game, the two tubs, nothing. The only spot I can think of is my dresser.... but I got no flashlight to get down and point the flashlight there and the right side of it, nor did I even find it in the pile of clothes (Don't ask)...... Man..... I suck at remembering....

Ah that's what you were getting at. The ones I enjoyed the most (in no particular order)
- Tower ( monk in bar)
- Devil ( CEO from Sunday shopping channel)
- Sun ( Terminally ill patient)
- Star ( rival athlete from other school)
- Hanged Man ( Girl with struggling parents)

I did enjoy her social link. And basically building her social link are the 'common sense of plebs lessons' you speak of. Too bad you have to wait till the end of the game to start on that link though.

I did think it was a waste that you couldn't bond with the male dorm members as friends like in Persona 4. I prefer to know more about Junpei and Akihiko instead of a fat kid who keeps stuffing himself over an inferiority complex or a dude who can't play sports over a bad knee and an easy to adjust promise to a 5 year old.

Junpei has an inferiority complex that you (a GIRL) are the leader and tries to be more of a big brother type later in the link. And Akihiko is the sports jock who tried to be strong cause he "let" his sister die about a decade ago and is abolutely CLUELESS about love.

Yeah, their social links are not that interesting in the female route, either.

Hold on now that Akihiko one sounds plenty interesting. I hardly knew he even HAD a sister!

I remember way back when I first played Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2..... There was an Insane where Super Buu asorbed both Cell and Frieza and there is no picture or video of Super Buu when he absorbs both of them. :sadshoe:

You don't have to care for them, but please at least admit the Social Links in the female route are on a whole much better than the ones in the male route.
