This.

Also Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 was pretty bad too. I managed to tolerate Shadow The Hedgehog and Sonic Riders, but this was just pitiful.

:think-pw: Why do I feel like I'm the only one here who enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog?

Yes, the controls were bad, yes the guns were unneeded, and yes the swearing was just there, but it did come with one thing that the other Sonic games were really lacking in: Plot. Seriously, every single Sonic game out there is just a re-hash of the exact same friggen plot. Eggman searches for supposedly invincible robot/weapon/monster/whatever, Sonic charges in to stop him while getting the Chaos Emeralds, monster betrays, Sonic uses Chaos Emeralds, Eggman temporarily joins the good side, monster goes down, everyone is happy, Eggman runs to fight another day.

Shadow the Hedgehog really did add in a real plot for once, and actually decided to delve into the backstory of one of the Sonic characters (Shadow is pretty much the only guy there who actually has a backstory unlike all the others who are just there).

However, the topic is about games I didn't like, and I have a few. Let's start off with Modern Warfare 2. The plot is just so insane that nobody can take that thing seriously if they have even a passing knowledge in politics and the military. So many plot holes, so little time. Now, gameplay is solid, I admit, but the plot is just really, really dumb. It's as if they just decided to say, "Screw it, let's just go completely insane with the plot."

Sad thing is that some people take the plot seriously and think it can happen. Another bad game I own? Halo Wars. You know, the RTS of the Halo franchise that nobody really liked. The plot was stupid, the characters' personalities were interchangeable, and the gameplay was so watered down yet so friggen difficult at the same time. Seriously, if I play on anything other than Easy for skirmish mode I get my ass kicked because for some reason the AI can gather resources and train troops a hell of a lot faster than me (several times I got a message that a covenant AI was making a Scarab. I charged to stop them, and the Scarab was already built).

And finally, there's Avatar: The Game. Pretty much the only thing it does is just highlight just how unrealistic the Avatar series is on its own (especially if you use the Pandorapedia, which flat-out defies science a lot of times, all while saying that it's supposed to be very scientifically sound). The plot is stupid, the characters are interchangeable again, the gameplay is bad, and they just threw in some things that really wasn't needed (you can go through the whole game without even once touching up on that stupid Conquest mini-game).

Yeah. Those are just a few games I own that I don't like.

Your not the only one, I liked Sonic Heroes as well, one of my favorites actually besides Tails' "voice". (More like a fucking whine.)
Modern Warfare 2 shouldn't be judge by story... EVER it isn't even worth it, just play multiplayer and enjoy how the game is supposed to be played.
Halo Wars sucks ass, moving on...
Anything that ties into a movie is grade-A trash so it's not like you even have to insult it, it insults itself by existing.
Next? I can do this all day, seriously this is fun. :godot:

You must've made a mistake for the first one, because I said Shadow the Hedgehog, not Sonic Heroes. Two completely different games.

Haven't played MW2's multiplayer, but according to a friend it isn't exactly fair a lot (Like double-shotgun dude, or knife-thrower-with-shield, some of the perks really break the game, and the tac-nuke really ruins it all, even though it was probably put in to help a losing team turn it all around).

Agreed, Halo Wars is bad. I just dissected it a bit.

And yes, games that tie into movies, and movies that tie into games never work out. It's kinda odd how you can't simply get a movie-based video game or a video game-based movie and ever get anything good.

And I'm still haven't played '06 so I can't put an opinion on it. I mean, it can't be THAT bad can it?

Obscene Load times, god awful controls, terrible camera and a PS3 version that, despite coming out a month later, did not bother to fix any of the aforementioned problems, shows it CAN be that bad. Heck, if Sonic Heroes (among others) hadn't already done it I'd say this destroyed all hope I had for the series.

Yet, Sonic Unleashed has it's moments, so you can't really say all hope is lost.
And all of those cons sound like things I can easily ignore really.

While I agree about Unleashed, there hasn't really been a sonic game thats been all around great in years.
Terrible controls and camera I can't really prove, but there is a Let's play of Sonic 06, Link
and out of the 20 hours spent playing, 2 and a half of them were spent loading, heck during side missions there will be a loading screen just for a single line of non-spoken dialogue.

I concur, Sonic '06 had completely insane amounts of loading. Hell, to fight a boss, you first load the cutscene of the boss introduction, and THEN load the boss itself. In fact, there isn't a single transition in the game that doesn't have a loading screen attached to it.

Not to mention that the plot is crazier than even your average Sonic game (it involves a lot of time travel, and the plot mostly revolves around Sonic guarding Princess Elise, Shadow tracking down Mephelis the Dark [who looks like a clone of Shadow if he was voiced by DAN GREEN] and Silver [the whiny psychic hedgehog from the future] trying to kill Sonic because he's the "Iblis Trigger" [Iblis is apparently some giant unkillable flame...monster...demon...thing...]. It turns out that both Mephelis and Iblis were once one and the same, named Solaris, the sun god [Yeah, I have no clue how fire and darkness mix into light], and apparently the guys running the place decided "Hey, wouldn't it be a great idea if we tried to do horrible experiments to our god in attempts to get new energy?" "YEAH! What could possibly go wrong?" [answer: Nothing less than a place being blown up, your king dying, and his daughter having to, unwittingly, have a demon sealed in her who comes out when she cries...for some reason...]. Eggman is also there trying to get Iblis [apparently he hasn't learned by now that you aren't supposed to use these ancient and evil beings] from Elise. In the end, Mephelis...
Spoiler:
Laser spears Sonic to kill him and make Elise cry, then using a Chaos Emerald (which has officially gone into "All purpose plot hole fix") to fuse himself with Iblis to become Solaris again, and for some reason, go on a rampage to destroy time itself...huh. Yeah, I didn't get it either. Also, the Chaos Emeralds bring Sonic back to life...along with a kiss from Elise...weird...

Three-timer Super mode (Sonic, Shadow, and Silver) to kill Solaris in what is one of the most damn annoying boss fights there, mostly because for the first part you can only damage him with one specific hedgehog, and as per usual, rings get drained. You regain rings the same way that you did in Sonic Adventure 2: Switching out with your partners.

Why doesn't anybody ever mention this abomination? I haven't played Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, but no matter how bad it is it can't be worse than this. The other characters move too fast and, as if that weren't enough, the controls are god-awful. Also, Sonic Unleashed was just terrible; almost as bad as Sonic and the Secret Rings. Sure, the daytime stages were great, and we all thought this was going to be the first truly great Sonic 3-D game until... Sega reveals Sonic the Werehog. WTF!? Why the hell did they do that!? Do they feel a need to ruin every single Sonic game!? This game absolutely convinced me that Sega is trying to sabotage Sonic.
Other games I hate:
-Animal Crossing
-ALL licensed games
-ALL sports games (other than Wii Sports (Resort)). ESPECIALLY Madden.
-Halo. Soooooooooo overrated.
-CoD:MW2. Soooooooooo overrated.
-Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games... why did they have to ruin a perfectly good Mario/Sonic crossover by putting Silver and Blaze in it!?
-Scribblenauts. Crappy and unfinished.
-Some crappy DSiWare called AiRace: Tunnel.
-Sonic and the Secret Rings
-Mario Party 4
Say, that reminds me of a puzzle! Have you ever heard this one, Luke?

Let's see here,
Sonic Riders was actually pretty fun in my opinion.
-Animal Crossing is just kinda bleh.
-You mean movie games?
-Sports games are just overrated, they're not poorly designed or anything.
-I never got into Halo.
-MW2 is fun, but it does get boring... and I'm still pissed about getting banned. :grey:
-How is putting a character from one of the best newer Sonic games a bad thing? (Not counting Silver.)
-I agree half way, the game seems to be only a novelty.
-Don't even know the game, so I'll take your word for it.
-Sonic and the Secret Rings was better than Sonic and the Black Knight at least.
-All the Mario Party games are sweet, any specific reason for 4? :yuusaku:
Also, I know plenty about '06's loading times, and that doesn't make the game any better or worse, it just takes longer.

True, but when you're waiting an obscene amount of time to load something extremely small, like a boss intro or a single line of dialogue, only to go BACK to the loading screen before you can actually play,is rather irritating. And, in the game's defense though, there were some good ideas in theory, but said ideas were executed horribly. (MACH SPEED!!!!! :zenitora: )

(I really do <3 Animal Crossing. It's just fun in general, it's hard to explain it xD But I did have a friend who said it sounded like the stupidest game he had ever heard of when I told him about it, then I got him to try it, and he turned into a bigger addict than me xD)

Rogue Galaxy: First game I ever traded in. I usually like keeping my games if only for collectors value but I just didn't like it. The gameplay was fun but got repeatative but at least they gave you lots to do. Storywise it was a trainwreck. The first 6 chapters weren't bad and it really peaked on the 6th but then it went off a cliff, smashed into the granite, and kept digging. Aside from Jaster, Kisala, Zegram, and (maybe) Steve, the rest of the characters were really only there for the sake of being there and only got forced, last minute character development that didn't even make sense. Jaster and Kisala are unlikeable idiots (and sadly dominate the plot) and Kisala's just a hypocritical bitch, who then proceeds to ruin the plot with her sheer existance.

Spoiler:
"We're the same!" Uh, no. You have a loving stepdad who's still around. Jaster just lost his and it's arguably his fault. Why shouldn't he have some time to grieve?

Plus, the ending just sucked. Again, Kisala ruins everything.

Dragon Quest VIII: Lots to do and such a big world but then it goes and ruins itself. It's a big pain to go around the big world when you run soooo slowly and then the game forces you to run back and forth these long distances due to stupid plot reasons (why can't you ever go to a place and NOT be forced to take a detour and come back!?) and it's worse because the enemy encounter rate is so high. It wouldn't be so bad but the gameplay is boring and the difficulty has a very steep jump every new area. While I didn't finish the plot I got to about 70-80% to the end before I quit and most of the plot is chase after the Mcguffin of the week. It's a shame too since the characters and VAing were pretty good.

The worst game I've ever played was Quest 64. The most boring game i've ever played. Horrible main character. And a lot of areas look the same.

:will: Aladdin, The Lion King, Jurassic Park, and Wheel of Fortune were my very first experiences in gaming. Needless to say, Jurassic Park was not a very good game. My father hated me, because I would always ask him to play it instead of playing it myself. I was really young back then, and I totally got scared by most games, so I made my father play them. Aren't I nice? :karma:

Anyway, Zoo Tycoon DS was just a horrible game in my opinion. The PC Zoo Tycoon games were great as casual games, but the series was never meant to come to the handheld. It's insanely difficult to control, and I can't make heard or tails out of the fencing tool. But maybe I'm just being my totally incompetent self.
And yes, we should have a thread for reviewing games. I'll have to see if that's already made... -runs off to use the search-

-I meant the original Metroid. The level designs were terribly unoriginal. What do you do in this game? You're in a room, and you jump up platforms and go into another room. Repeat over 9000 times.

@Home32: 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 are pretty much the 5 best Mario Party games. Also, is there really a difference between a game "sucking" and a game not being fun? Sure, it's educational, it's not going to be the most fun game ever, but it could've been better. Just look at Brain Age, and even the Wii Big Brain Academy. SOOOOOOOOOOO much better.

Actually there is a difference. A game that sucks lacks in ALL aspects, a game that isn't fun only lacks in that one. :garyuu:

-Whuh? :yuusaku:

-Not to say I don't respect your opinion, but why Metroid?

-Not Time or Darkness, just Sky because it's just Time/Darkness with about 30 minutes of extra content from what I've heard.
-Oh wow! It costs 5 dollars and it has 20 microgames, 5 of which are multiplayer-only! Not to mention, crappy controls! DIY Showcase costs less than half the price and has over three times the microgames.
-I meant the original Metroid. The level designs were terribly unoriginal. What do you do in this game? You're in a room, and you jump up platforms and go into another room. Repeat over 9000 times.

-Wow, that is pretty awful. The "Whuh?" was meant because I haven't heard of it
-Meh, it was NES standard, almost every game was like that at the time, Metroid just got popular because of the somewhat free-roaming aspect.

For me, it's the Lord of the rings game trilogy.

FIrst one:
- forced stealth sections on a linear pathway.
- Instant failure if caught on forced stealth section.
- the "magic cloaking device" completely fails in that the AI still surrounds you, they only don't attack you.
- no combat. (though all you have is a big stick :keiko: :uramidn: )

Second one:
-...I haven't played it. :payne: (watches all credibity go out the window)

third one:
-combat for me is frustrating. On easy.
-YOu end up dying because you lack the ability to fight off 20 guys simultaneousally.
-Grrr...the mazes.
-range attacks do peanuts
-basic attacks do peanuts
-parries blocks for 10^-100 (for the less mathematical, that's a decimal, followed by a hundred zeroes, then a one) of a millisecond. so it does peanuts.
-Enemy attacks can kill you in 9 hits. on easy
-THE combos fail. let me demopnstrate with bob, the Orc that has 10,000 health
hit! (-1)
hit! (-1)
parry
Combo attack! (-7)

But I guess it differs from person to person. I have a friend who hates RTSs for the same reasons i love them.

- NINJABREAD MAN
but you probably knew that already. Sucky controls, sucky camera, sucky gameplay, and it would be a sucky plot if there was one.

- Princess Tomato in the salad kingdom
that game is godawful. seriously, it makes no sense at all, and the sister to a tomato is a human. ok srsly, WTF

- any friken rayman game with them friken rabbits in them.
they are retards and they ruined the Rayman series, ruined it I say. they appeared in one of the games and were okay, but now they are the main characters, which is totally unfair on the once-awesome Rayman.

- Halo/CoD
Mainly because they are overrated, as any of you have said. To be honest, they are not REALLY bad, just...I don't know, they are mssing something. Most likely just a bit of charm.

Just wondering, it sounds like you haven't played EotS (Explorers of the Sky) yet. I think it's a little unfair to judge it if you haven't, but if I read it wrong and you have played it, then I take all the blame and take back what I said. But I found EotS to be an enjoyable improvement over D/T. You got new starter choices, at least. And the new missions, while rather short, were actually very enjoyable. It kind of fills in the gap that the main story never covered.

The first one isn't even made by the same company, so I'll let that one slip.
The last two are great games, and most of those flaws aren't actually flaws, but you just sucking at the game.

This. I 100% agree with this. I have to admit, those retarded rabbits are somewhat entertaining, but the games they star in are EXTREMELY boring unless you have two or three other people playing with you. Besides, the original Rayman games were WAAAY better. They just lowered the once awesome Rayman games series into a pathetic mini-game series, sorta like WarioWare, but with longer and a lot less mini games. Besides, what happened to the other characters from the Rayman games? I think there were a few characters other than Rayman, but it's been YEARS since I played the games...

Third'd
Besides most of the other Rayman characters (as far as I remember) would fit perfectly in a mini-game series, although I've only played Rayman 3 and part of 2

I agree as well, but you have to admit, the Rabbids Go Home game is pretty decent on it's own.
I don't associate it with Rayman, and it turns out really fun that way.

I haven't played Rabbids go Home so I wouldn't know, and the Rabbids are kinda funny on thier own, but my main beef is that they took a franchise that I loved as a child, and turnd it into something completely different. But this might just be the nostalgia talking.
P.S, if another Rayman game comes out, they better bring the Teensies back.

Blue frog is named Globox, I believe, and mosquito thing is named Murfy. Also adding to that list are the robot pirates from 2, Razorbeard, the Knarran from 3, and Andre the black Lum.

Burning Road.

It's a racing game. My brother and I could never race each other though, because in order to play with more than one player, you have to link two Playstations with a copy of the game together. You could not simply plug a controller into the second port.

Marketing ploy I bet, having to buy two games?

OK, let me rephrase that: How in the world did they think anyone would buy 2 copies of one game, PLUS have another PS2, JUST to have 2 player in a single racing game.
