Ehh, M64's not for everyone. For some reason, I can be great at games that are infamous for being ridiculously hard, and then suck at something considered to be simple. I'm the Maxwell Adams of this board is what I'm saying.

For example: I suck at Sonic, but I am the best at Bit Trip.

I also suck at Sonic, but I've somehow managed to complete all three Battletoads games without going completely mental.

(However, unlike Maxwell, I don't think I can pull off playing two games of Contra at the same time and winning.)

And knowing is half the battle. Or alternatively, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

I honestly never had the original sonic games, but one of my relatives found she had a Genesis in her basement for years, and had all three Sonics, (unfortunately, no &Knuckles) and a few other gems, including Dynamite Headdy, which I LOVED.

Oh my God..................
RPG is Role Playing Game, and it is very cool. It is the one style that you are a hero or a villain, depends on the game, and you have one main objective, but you can do other things like hunting enemies to get money and buy items.
RPG examples:
Mario & Luigi Partners in Time
Zelda
Castlevania
Patapon :karma:

Jr. Shroob? I found him not to be too hard, just so long as you focus on the letters and not the colors when he does the sign attacks. (But then again, I've played all three M&L games IMMENSELY.)

Haven't played Partners in Time or Patapon, but Zelda and Castlevania are considered more to be Action-Adventure games. A better example of what's considered to be of the RPG genre would be the Final Fantasy series.

Though I guess technically, those types of games have evolved to be more like interactive novels with RPG elements rather than just RPGs.

Zelda II is a RPG. Cant deny.
I knew it, another one who doesnt know Patapon.... My avatar is my fave Patapon char!
In Patapon, youre not a hero, but you are a God who controls troops with holy drums (pata, pon, chaka and don). But it is a RPG, since you need to hunt for food and materials (food to feed your village, materials to improve your troops).

Uhm no it is no RPG. It is a simple action adventure
Levels do not imply: IT IS AN RPG
RPGs also have a special Fighting System, like Turn Based Mostly
otherwise it is an Action Rpg or Action Adventure
also in most RPGs you got a party

Are you hitting the 'Shrooms back at him? I seem to remember him shooting Mushrooms that could heal him if you countered.

And Coffee and Adrian are correct, M&L is really the only one you mentioned that could be an RPG.

There are lots of RPGs you are one only hero, and you do not have a party.
Yes, Patapon is a RPG.
Zelda II has everything a game needs to be a RPG. Spells, levelling up, finding treasures...

Patapon seems to be more of a strategy game, not really character or plot-based. (I may be completely wrong)

And while Zelda II has RPG 'elements' it is an adventure game at heart, similar in vein to Castlevania II: SImon's Quest.

Zelda II was a frigging hard game. I like wanted to crush my GBA while playing it. On a wall or something.
Later I played it on the pc, First with sav stats, then without
Still it is an ARGH game of mine

Patapon may be a little strategy styled, but you have to control the characters. In case of the PSP, square does pata; circle does pon; triangle does chaka; and x does don. You have to press in a right order to do things:
Pata pata pata pon: walk
Pon pon pata pon: attack
Chaka chaka pata pon: defend
and so on...............

Yes and no. It's considered action role-playing, so I guess it's a mix of genres.
