Also, Sakaguchi says her death was NOT supposed to be seen as necessary or a ritualistic one so that the lifestream would ultimately win in VII. He wanted it to be a sudden, out-of-nowhere death. To which I have to say...
1) don't make it so freaking obvious she's gonna die
2) DON'T KILL HER ON AN ALTAR IN A CITY IMPORTANT TO HER PEOPLE'S RACE WHILE PRAYING!!
And yes that last bit is a huge sign that makes it look like it is a ritualistic death.

If it was necessary or ritualistic, it would have been for the "heroes" to accomplish something. Something like the chosen one's journey in Tales of Symphonia. So what did Aerith's death accomplish? Seriously, did it accomplish anything? I have no idea...

RNG?

Generally means Random Number Generator (or called Random Number God) and refers to the drop gotten from something. RNG can be affected by reloading the game from a save and trying the same fight again to get a better item drop or what you wanted. (Like in XIII, it's a good idea to save before fighting Adamantoises to see if they'll drop a Trapezohedron or a Platinum Ingot)

C-A

It's not just drops, but anything that can be random in the game is determined by an RNG. This includes random encounters, stat based level ups in some games, percentages when it comes to some stats, etc, even dealing and taking damage in a game depending on the formulas. Sure RNG is commonly referred to for drops, but it affects other things as well.

As for the discussion, I believe the RNG discussion was talking about Dunban's evasive stat. Say he has an 80% evasive stat. That means he won't get hit 20% of the time in theory. Which means for every 5 attacks, he'll get hit once. However, the RNG may decide to be a jerk that day and allow him to get hit 4 out of 5 times instead. And it's stuff like that as to why I sometimes hate it.

That said though, as far as Xenoblade goes, I do prefer Dunban's evasive tank over Reyn's tanking, which is weird because considering RNG, in most games I'll usually avoid the evasive tank because I have such bad luck.

@Luigi: Sharla is a fantastic healer. I prefer Riki, though he's not as good because he's more a jack of all trades and he doesn't have cool down like Sharla. Still, Sharla comes through in a pinch.

@Pierre: Aww, Buster is still great in chain attacks!

Oh what? Of course, you'd be mad to say support is bad. I just don't think Shulk's supporting options are especially useful outside of Mechon.
I'd take Riki putting masses of enemies to sleep while people wail on one target over a slight agility buff on either Reyn (a tank who takes hits like a punchbag) or Dunban (a tank who has ridiculously high agility anyway).

Yeah Zack is a much more likeable character and main protagonist for me than Cloud. Really, only incarnation of Cloud I like is, incidentally, Crisis Core's cause he's just a sweet young boy. Zack was a huge improvement compared to Cloud, for me. Unfortunately the missions are super repetitive...

I love the ending. I hate it, but I also love it. And Price Of Freedom (the BGM) is awesome. (What do you have against Ayaka's "Why"? That piece was awesome, it isn't a very happy song, neither is the melody all that happy.)

Yes Aerith is THAT girl. Though I have said it before, I found her worse in VII because I always knew her as Aerith The Cetra and not Aerith The Person. I knew her more as Aerith The Person in Crisis Core than I did in VII. Incidentally, this is also the reason why I DON'T care about her death in VII. I didn't KNOW her as a character or person, so why should I care?
C-A

The game couldn't really sell me on Zack and Cloud's friendship, actually. I mean, Zack treated him like a comrade and didn't abandon him because he's a good guy. That's fine. However, the end is supposed to signify that I'm supposed to feel about them the way I felt about the relationship between Zack and Angeal, and I don't

I don't really like that song...or Price of Freedom

Jesus, she was such a boring character. I literally can't think of one aspect of her personality beyond "she likes flowers." Building a flower wagon as a mission was also a groaner

Zack and Angeal were supposed to be seen as friends? Never to me. It was always younger kid and his sort-of mentor. Never friendship. And it kind of felt that way in the end between Cloud and Zack, too. Though I'll be honest, I could do without Angeal in this game. And I'm totally not saying that cause fighting him was so difficult for me once...

I thought he was easy. Almost too easy. Granted, backslash 100% critical rate from behind made a lot of things in this game easy.

Didn't Shulk say something near the beginning about how the Monado can't harm Homs/human-esque creatures?

[sighs sadly] I just conquered one of my neighbors in a recent playthrough of Civilization V. I never wanted it to come to that. I've been at war with Genghis Khan before, and it's always over the same thing: he attacks a city-state that I had sworn to protect, so I come to that city-state's aid. He's perfectly willing to get friendly with me after the war's over, but given enough time, he attacks Malacca again. I decided after the third war with him that if he attacked Malacca again, I would destroy his empire and install puppets in all of his cities. He attacked Malacca again, so I declared war on the Mongol Empire and conquered it. I never exactly trusted Genghis Khan after his first war with Malacca, but I never wanted his empire destroyed, either.

I'm reminded of a question I've sometimes pondered: would I be hurt more by a friend of mine being murdered or by said friend committing murder? I've never been able to figure out what my answer would be.

It's closer to Devil Survivor, I guess.
But you want to increase your AGI to generally be the first to go during battles. Battles are done in Press Turn style. DEX is important for hitting hard with Physical/Gun Skills and STR is just there for Physical Attack. So if you prefer to be a physical hitter, focus on DEX, as it makes your physical/gun skills hit harder, but also increases your overall regular atack with a gun.
LUK is for Crits...

Since I just restarted completely anew and know I will go for Reincarnation NG+ where I carry over my level and parameters, I know that I'll go back to focusing on my magic as my main attack, but get at least 100 STR. Cause that way, I get the best sword in the Neutral Path.

I chose Delphox, but honestly? It's the first generation where I love the water type just a little bit more. Greninja is not only the coolest, but has the best moves and stats of the three. Chestnaught may not look stylish, but he's also highly recommended for power.

I also chose Venusaur. Tanks pretty well. Poison works well against fairies.

Really, just choose the pokemon you like. The rest doesn't matter unless you plan on taking on the new game plus stuff.

Okay, so I just got SMT IV. There's about another whole game's worth of DLC purchases, but I was wondering if any actually add anything to the game that would be useful or interesting. Like, relating it to Fallout: New Vegas (because pip boy), are they all just like Gun Runner's Arsenal (adding only weapons and items) or are any of them like the main four DLC's that add story and such (like Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road)?

SMT IV's DLC can be categorized into three parts.
1. Clothes/Equipment DLC
2. Helpful Grinding DLC
3. Extra Battle DLC

The first are mostly cosmetic, though as you'll notice, Head Equipment can give you an increase to certain parameters, Upper Body Equipment alters your elemental alignments (what you are weak/strong/resistant to) and Lower Body Equipment gives you increase to Agility. The DLC outfits are rather okay, some look a bit goofy, but are overall decent equipment. Though you can get just fine equipment in-game, too. And best equipment is in-game, too. But horribly expensive.

The second are basically quests you can go to and stay as long as you want and you can grind either Experience, Macca or App Points. They all function the same way, the enemies give tiny experience (10 is the highest I've seen) but they drop items. Light/Heavy Grimoire for EXP, Gold Items for Macca and Point Cards for App Points. You can use those with the first and last, the middle one gets sold at shops for money.
They're pretty helpful, especially since the beginning of the game can be pretty tough. Though I don't think they are necessary, just something to cut down on grinding. (Like the EXP Share in Pokémon, I guess)

The last are mostly just battles. But some of them, like against the Archangels or the For The Future, For The Past DLC are more in-tune with the story. They are not necessary and don't have to be played to understand the story, but they are fun to go through. Particularly that last DLC I mentioned seems to indicate something about the story, but it may just be interpretation.

Regarding the endings, by the way... not actually spoilerish, just in general.

Spoiler: SMT IV Endings
There are four Endings, one which is the Nothing/Nihilism ending. It is the only ending you can get before alignment lock AND it ends the game early. But it does allow you to get one of the endings and get to New Game Plus faster. So I would suggest to get the Nothing ending first - don't care about your alignment, just answer however you want - and then play NG+ with an attempt at getting an Alignment ending.
The usual Law, Chaos and Neutral.

How do I attain that ending? Aligning with the stupid brat or the token female? Because obv evil and obv lawful dudes from my dream that dream about me are pretty much obv chaos and law respectively. Or is there just some choice at some point that does everything?

Also, finding the Orthrus battle to be impossachievable. Relegated myself to LOTS of grinding to get some fusions that will actually be able to stand up to Orthrus.
