Random conversations about Games... hm... Lollipop Chainsaw pisses me off.
I made it to the top of the building that I needed to go and it shows the cutscene from the previous building roof (that I just jumped off of) and Juliet dies.
That makes no sense... I made it to the check point.
Fuck this game. I'm playing Catherine.

How do I attain that ending? Aligning with the stupid brat or the token female? Because obv evil and obv lawful dudes from my dream that dream about me are pretty much obv chaos and law respectively. Or is there just some choice at some point that does everything?

Also, finding the Orthrus battle to be impossachievable. Relegated myself to LOTS of grinding to get some fusions that will actually be able to stand up to Orthrus.

Spoiler: SMT IV Ending
The Nihilism Ending is regardless of your Alignment, you can always get it. You can get it right at the Alignment Lock, you basically just have to pick the option that basically amounts to destroying the entire universe. Basically, return everything to nothing. There's one boss fight there, but it's a super easy one - the opponent doesn't and can't move.

The token chick Isabeau isn't really associated with any alignment, though she does make herself clear that she is neither Law or Chaos. The little stupid brat has to do with the neutral ending.

The trick to all of it: Press Turn and abuse weaknesses. With Orthrus, I'd suggest to go down to the 3rd Stratum and get a Mec..i... Meco... something-demon. It has Agi, which doesn't help, but it also Nullifies Fire, so Orthrus' fire attack won't harm him and will take turns away from it. You want demons that have Bufu and/or are not weak to Fire. (Preferably also head to the Blacksmith and buy the upper body equipment that gives you fire resistance) The battle can be managed at around Level 6 - 8. Really, weaknesses are a major deal in this game. And you might want to save before engaging the demon, then reload if you didn't get the first turn. First turn can be important, too.

Chainsaw Dash?
Yes, that's it. xD
I made it to the top of the other building and could have continued but instead it stopped me and showed the cut scene of her getting crushed on the building I dashed off of. It did that twice to me already.

It sounds a bit like Chapter 2, chasing after Cordelia's present. Also, this might be the part where there were 2 ways you could go on one roof top and one of them was "safe", but had no coins, where as the other had a sort of death trap on it that, if you weren't fast enough, a wall would crumble and crush her. Or so. (I mostly remember that part well cause it was around the point where I kept dying myself due to ZOMBIE BASEBALL and had to redo that part over and over to get to the baseball part...)

It is that part. ;___; It's confusing and annoying me so much. I just gave up on it. I'll probably try again later or some other day.

Go the left path, I think, that was the safer one. As said no coins, but at least you're safe and wouldn't die from a death trap.

I'm coin hungry... that's probably why I keep dying in the same area. xD

monster hunter whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

after bashing my head against brachydios with a gunlance for hours, i'm finally able to beat it by using a greatsword

the game immediately gives me the quest for the infected brachydios

i haven't tried it yet, but... i have literally no idea how i'm going to fight off the infection with the greatsword, considering the weapon style

I remember facingthat conundrum back in Tri. Gunlance is very defensive and relies on blocking but brachydios applies slime blight even on blocked hits so you take damage anyway. Granted you can back step out of slime blight if you do it enough but its a waste of stamina which leaves you open to other attacks.

Either get biology which makes you immune to it or don't get hit at all. I tried the latter using a hammer on him and a more evasive approach. Course that was in Tri as a gunner I didn't face the same issues as back then in 4U.

I think they changed it so that slime doesn't apply on blocked hits. I also didn't know you could get rid of slime by dodging until I checked online... Still, lolgunlancedodging. I could do okay with gunlance, but I couldn't win the war of attrition. The gunlance is so slow, I'd end up just not being able to dodge a slime blast eventually, or would run out of stamina and get hit...

Also I thought infected monsters were new to MH4? :ron:

Oh yeah it is I just meant Brachydios.
I'm 100% used to not being able to knock monsters out of Frenzy, it's nice when it happens but I don't count on it. Though yeah rolling or back/sidestepping a few times will make slimeblight wear off. It wears off instantly if you roll through water I believe.

Things this also works on:
Flameblight
Giggi and Zamtrios (when they latch on)

I wanted to get that neutral ending in the game but I ended up grinding so much and sorta lost interest in the game XD I should go back to it. It's a lot of fun!

It's not a bad game, but I wouldn't call it great, either. Somehow, the story feels a bit lacking and not as deep, but maybe I was expecting more than I should have.

For a digital download that's half the price of standard 3DS games (It was $26 AUD, and a standard is about $60AUD), it's really a lot of content, and I like the gameplay mechanics are like Persona 2's (Which I enjoyed). It's my first main SMT game but I've liked it so far. I guess the story's not really been much up to where I left off, but I'm not far enough into it to say whether I liked it or not.

Oh yeah, I got it half-price, too. It's a good game and has lots of content. I will say I hate having to Scout demons - especially since getting them seems like a luck based mission, sometimes this option will help you, other times it will make them kill you. It has a lot of content, but I have the same problem with it that I had with other SMT games, like Devil Survivor.

The alignment lock is so late in the game and there is practically NO difference in the events up until that point, it makes it difficult for me to really want to play the game multiple times to get all the endings. If there were bigger differences when I'm on a Chaos or Law path before the lock, I might see more fun in it. Like Scenario A goes down Path B on neutral, but has Path B1 and B2 for Chaos and Law. Like, I kill someone instead of just arresting them or so.

Though I got SMT I and II recently and I wanna play those. Never played them a lot, though I tried the GBA version of it once.

I think it's unique trying to scout demons. I liked the ways in P2 more (Like picking a subject to talk about and each demon can be persuaded the same way). This one is like "Give me all your money" or "Give me a large chunk of health" and it either does the trick or makes them flee.

Still if the alignment lock happens so late on what's the point of the decisions you make earlier on? I've been really conscious trying to balance them incase it's keeping record of them so as to stay neutral.

I read the "trick" to easily make sure to get to Neutral path in SMT IV is...
A) Always pick the 1st Option during any choice matters in the story
B) During the "Ethics Trial", always pick the Left side (Previously forgot to list this one)
C) When you break up, decide to go with Jonathan and not Walter
D) Proceed as normal with step A in mind and you should be on Neutral path
Since I'm going for the nihilism ending right now, I took whatever option I wanted, though I might opt for Chaos next time. I made a save before the final alignment lock to see what I would get if I didn't go for nihilism. I got Law... again. Nyeh.

I played SMT I... again. I recall why I didn't get far with it. The first person view and controls seem so needlessly complex to me. :eh?:

Wow Spoony. Wow. You suck. Suck major balls. Shadow Yukiko is NOT a tough boss, nor is she a wake-up call boss. The boss after that one is actually a wake-up call one. You know why? 3 enemies, they all use buffs and debuffs which are important in the game and can likely kill you within one or two turns and not a single one of them has a weakness.

Shadow Yukiko is a cakewalk, despite her not having any weaknesses. Only one companion and that one has a weakness, making it easy to abuse the One More system of the game. Dude, if you fail at Yukiko, you fail the entire game.

I already hate this guy and this just makes me realize all the more how terrible he is.

*sigh*

Cat doesn't realise me and most of my friends shared this man's sentiment about Shadow Yukiko. Guess we all fail at the entire game.
Having a boss get extra attacks is pretty severe, normally I'd tweak my party to avoid that crap but Chie is a massive liability in the fight which basically reduces it to a 2 on 2. If it's your first time and you don't know the system to have a Persona immune to fire, Yukiko can be quite tough.

I agree with Pierre. Shadow Yukiko is a definite wake up call boss for first time players. With Chie's weakness to fire getting her extra turns on top of the fact that unlike in Golden, her attacks aren't choreographed nor does Yukiko have a weakness, so no all out attacks to make it easier. Even her little helper is tough if you're not ready. It's a HUGE step up from the tutorial boss that was Shadow Yosuke. Most first time players will not be ready.

What's worse is Yosuke is your only subpar healer, and you may likely need a secondary healer, and if Chie is constantly down, you're mostly likely spending your first time wasting your SP healing. There is a reason Yukiko is really the only nerfed boss in Golden compared to others that may have been slightly changed or upped a bit on difficulty. Too many complaints about her sudden difficulty. Though I don't care for Noah either, this point is very valid and if you check the internet, I'm sure most people will share his sentiments on Yukiko.

I think the only reason I got lucky is I happened to get a Slime with Red Wall. First time players won't necessarily know this. Honestly, without Red Walling Chie, I would have game over'd. I can't recall, but can Yukiko cancel Red Wall?
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

I don't think she knows Fire Break.
I'm pretty sure I wiped the first time maybe even a second time I tried to brute force it. Thought about it a bit then got tactical and made a Senri that was Fire Immune. If I can't keep Chie alive the least I can do is ensure the protagonist is fine.

Yeah I use an old wired Xbox controller that plugs in with a usb attachment. Might be hard to get those though.

Also the D-pad on it is horrible.

I think that's the one then.
It's very easy to input down when you are trying to go sideways and vice versa. It's a nightmare in precision platformers and fighting games but if you are just using something that's analogue stick focused you shouldn't have trouble.

Cat doesn't realise me and most of my friends shared this man's sentiment about Shadow Yukiko. Guess we all fail at the entire game.

But she was not difficult! I had more difficulty with the miniboss Knight of that dungeon than with Yukiko. Yukiko was easy in the original version and made even easier in Golden, because she was given an Ice weakness. Really, in order to fight Yukiko without too much difficulty, do the following...
1) Have Chie use Bufu on the Prince, knock him down.
1.1) Chie gets Once More? Have her guard.
2) Proceed to hit Prince, to make him dizzy.
3) Yosuke can heal if necessary, Narukami is a back-up healer.
4) Try to have a Bufu-using Persona on Narukami for extra ice damage.
5) When Yukiko attacks? Since Chie is guarding, she will likely not be thrown on her ass -> Yukiko does not get a Once More
Alternatively: Level up a Slime until it has Resist Physical and Red Wall. Use Red Wall on Chie and she'll not be knocked on her ass by fire for 3 rounds, meaning step number 1.1 can be exchanged with "Have Chie hit either the Prince or Yukiko".

Shadow Kanji was much more difficult. Because they had no weaknesses. 3 Enemies, one buffing regularly, one using Heat Riser which CAN'T be removed with Dekaja, one guy who hits like a damn truck and Shadow Kanji himself hitting hard and/or poisoning your party. THAT was a difficult battle.

And just one more reason why I hate Golden, it ruined the nice difficulty that Persona 4 had.
What did they expect I wanted to play in Golden, ANOTHER Persona 3 Portable?! :ron:

The difference is that by the time the player reaches Shadow Kanji, they will have a better grasp on the Persona fusion system, and have ready access to a party member with Media. Shadow Yukiko, on the other hand, is fought when the player still only has three party members and was probably able to breeze through the castle without much challenge. Yes, even the knight miniboss.

Cat the problem is we can't guarantee how quickly people will go straight for the weakness. First time they won't outright know it. They might attempt to ignore the little fellow in favour of Yukiko herself. They might try and spend time buffing at the start. Then the party needs to spend time healing until they've clocked onto your strategy which wears down your (at that point) relatively small pool of SP.

Yeah Shadow Kanji is a challenge as well but Yukiko presents a fair challenge herself.

Which is similar to how Final Fantasy XIII's bosses (not Eidolons) tend to smack Doom onto your leader as a way of saying, "Your currently applied strategy is not working in this fight. Try it again." And while SP is definitely low at the beginning and difficult to maintain decently healed*, it can be done with smart fighting. It's a Persona game, smart fighting is practically a requirement and something you learn very, very fast. Not to mention, simply one round of fighting will tell you that you shouldn't ignore the little Prince minion.
Certainly, a player will have to guess for the appropriate weaknesses and what not (an issue in SMT IV as well) but... well, logic. Yukiko's castle is filled with enemies that use Agi, so naturally you'd think Bufu is necessary. Ditto on Shadow Yukiko and the Prince being red. Not a big indicator, but a good hint to the fact that they might be weak to ice.

* technically you can get those Sodas from the vending machine in front of Shiroku for a nice SP healing every day from what I've read. I personally haven't used it yet, though.

リノプロスs series

it makes me look so faaaaaat

I finally got to high rank, and this seems like the best immediately-available gunlance set. (The increased armor really does help~)
