I can understand Ami's prefferance of the music and characters, but how is EBA's control scheme different or inferior at all? only thing I can think of is that she needs her screen recalibrated. On a more relevant point is the character wearing green with the blonde hair and piggy nose who appears all over the place in EBA an Ouendan character?

None of us can be wrong or right when it comes to personal preference. You just have to realize that people will think different ways than you do and what is good for one person isn't good for everyone.

Whenever someone asks me if they should get a specific game I do my best to make sure they know that.
And the same applies here.

On a side note, a good way to develop your debate skills is to take part in the CR and/or VG Mafia games. They really make you both use your brain and pay careful attention to what you are actually saying.

Edit: Oh, and... "piggy nose"?

only other way I could describe it would be upturned or something which doesn't sound quite right. But seeing as there's no sprite rips of cut scenes from the games (that I've found) I couldn't give a picture but he's most noticeable when they're clapping to un-hard rock the agents, but the guy appears a lot of times.

I think I know who you are talking about now!
He's just an EBA extra. I never saw him in Ouendan 1 or 2.

I don't believe it's inferior, but it DOES feel different. Inexplicably, the controls were working a little more easily for me on Ouendan. The nearest comparison I can make is the game Space Channel 5: It has a sort of precision and rhythm all to itself that I don't entirely grasp. (For instance, even the noted musician Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails once professed that Space Channel five just didn't feel quite natural.) So that's how I feel about the controls in EBA. I have a harder time executing maneuvers on there.

Err, EBA uses the same game engine as Ouendan. How does that make the controls feel different?

as I understand it she's saying that more parts of the beat tracks don't match the actual tunes in EBA than in Ouendan.
Edit:speaking of my post from earlier which characters from ouendan appear in EBA? theres the cat and possibly the film star but who else?

Definitely the film star and the cat (the big one in Ouendan II), but there's also the two police officers from Shanghai Honey showing up in Let's Dance if you fail the third phase (just very briefly). Haven't noticed any others myself. I'm just reading somebody saying the woman with the baby in Vista in Ouendan II is the same as the one in ABC and Highway Star. Also the announcer character appearing in Guts da ze, Kokoro Odoru, and Rinda Rinda presents a tv show in one of the multiplayer scenario's, I believe it was an idol competition.

There's also a scene where the guy from "Loop & Loop" and "Zenryoku Shonen" shows up. In "Sk8r Boi", if you watvh a point where the car FLYS WITH AMAZING SPEED down into the subway, the guy on the right is the student, but he has longer hair in front.

The ones off Galbadia? Covers. There are some covers that are far better than the original. Examples being Walkie Talkie Man (the original was CRAP) and La La.

Huh... I liked the original WTM. But songs like Shanghai Honey and Thrill and Shonen Heart? The originals were better. Way better. However, EBA made songs songs I didn't like before better. Maybe EBA 2 will make me like Britney Spears! LOL

I like the EBA Jumpin' Jack Flash better than every single other version I found during my initial search.
There was a reggae version for cripes sake!

The ones in the package seem to be all game rips. And they seem pretty decent.

Man, go to iTunes and search for JJF, but listen to the live concert version in the album called "Flashpoint". It's gooooooood. And so is "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction". The Stones Rock

I don't think that EBA's cover artist for Jumpin' Jack Flash quite did it justice, but it wasn't a bad recording. I still prefer the original.

I haven't played OtO1 yet but I have played EBA and OtO2. Personally I can't decide which I like more. EBA has just these awesome levels of pure win (September, JJF, Material Girl*, Highway Star, Rock this Town, La La**, Inspiration are my top seven)

But OtO2 do as well (Go my Way, Glamorous Sky, Shounen Heart***, Bang Bang Vacations****, Music Hour, Samurai Blue and Bambina are my top seven)

As far as story goes EBA makes more sense than OtO2/1 does. It's a secret agency dedicated to inspiring others to do their best through the rhythm of the beat. As for Ouendan1/2 their idea are cheerleaders coming from nowhere to do the same thing- only they hint it as the Ouendan team are merely home town heroes. Not to mention that rival gang which makes me think of Democrats vs. Republicans every time I play Ouendan 2 XD! (seriously, blue versus red hur hur -brick'd-)

Level playing and the art in it: both have amazing levels that make you gasp with awe. EBA and OtO1/2 are even with this level I think.

*While I'm not a Madonna fan I LOVED the cover of this song
**Laura Jane (the cover artist for La La) OWNS Ashlee Simpson. The cover was way better than the original.
***This cover made my head hurt. That and I failed this level so hard for the longest time (this was the Canned Heat of Ouendan to me)
****I personally like the cover version, if only because this song is originally sung by a boy band and it sounds a lot better to me sung by girls XD

That's my two cents :goodman:

Augh, I heard Ouendan 2's version of Shounen Heart, and they completely butchered one of my all time favourite anime openings. It's absolutely terrible.

That's another issue I have between the two Ouendan games and EBA. I feel alll of EBA's songs are an improvement over the originals (except for Highway Star), while Ouendan's versions of their songs aren't nearly as good, if not downright awful (except for Ready Steady Go).

The "Shonen Heart" cover isn't terrible but it's definitely no replacement for the original song. I like it, to be honest.

Upcoming player alert!

After finally S ranking JJF on Sweatin' mode, I'm pumped up and ready to play OTO2. I'm going to import it once I save up enough (I'm only 68p short! :beef: ), and I just can't wait. Just as a precaution, is there anything I should know that makes OTO2 differ from EBA?

Random on-topic sentence: My friend told me he gets dizzy from watching me play EBA, so I'll be making him vomit if he watches me play OTO2.

There are a few things that differ between EBA and OTO2.

-Unlockable "Hidden" mode after reaching the highest rank
-You can skip the intro and outro cutscenes
-Rival Ouendan
-You can save up to twenty replays of any songs on any difficulties you've played

Heh, I've heard about the rival agency and somewhere a mention of the Hidden Marker mode, but it sounds awesome.

Another question. I'm quite unfamiliar with J-Pop myself, so would that strongly affect each song and its difficulty? Would I have to listen to the songs separately to get the hang of the harder difficulties?

yup, youll get the hang of it through playing but i cant say it didnt help to hear the song ahead of time,

otherwise ive played all three, cant decide which is really my fav. but all in al i love both series and cant wait for the next installments. guess i give my points to OTO2 because of the adde features.

music wise, im a big fan of japanese music to begin with so i like pretty much anything from OTO. and come on, EBA selects some great classics which i also like. they tie in that respect (though i do perfer the selection in OTO2 to the original)

I did better with the ones I hadn't heard at all and still managed to get S ranks on most of my first tries.

I was so glad when I finally S-ranked all songs hidden mode on all difficulties in Ouendan II, but I had to go and screw it up :larry: . I was playing Samurai Blue on three star difficulty, and it was going so well, too well you might think, and that proved to be true. I got to the end of the track with only 11 hundreds, and what do you know I MISSED THE LAST TO BEATS. Now I've set a score near impossible (for me) to break, and that A-rank is still laughing at me after one and a half hour of non-stop trying to get S-rank. I keep getting too many hundreds in the parts with the refrain... The only thing that gives me a little hope is that on four star difficulty, I got an S-rank with a slightly higher score (5000 more I believe), and the achievable amount of points on this song is the same in three and four star difficulty. I guess I shouldn't care so much to have a highscore S-rank in hidden mode on each song, but it's just so frustrating to KNOW you can do something and can't do it again. Luckily I can still say of Ouendan I and Elite Beat Agents that I achieved my goal of all S-rank.

I just got Ouendan 2 in the mail this morning. I've been gearing myself up for it by listening to the soundtrack over and over, though I still suck. I almost chucked my DS at the wall when I couldn't beat SSAY, and Insane mode really lives up to its name. The beats are even smaller than EBA's Hard Rock mode!

Heheheheheheheheh...
All the time I think of how hard it must be when people first try out EBA Cheerleader mode. Then... I tried OTO2 Cheer girls. It's really hard, and with the hidden mode feature, it's harder. However, The dots don't disappear NEARLY as early. That's always nice.

I am NOT looking forward to Hidden mode. Out of all the levels on Insane mode, I only got the good ending on two of them. The rest I kept dropping to ! on the life meter.

I've surprisingly reached SSAY since my last message, and it has defeated me today, but I will get my revenge tomorrow! As soon as I nurse my aching wrist. I almost never get onto the fourth section, and when I do, I get completely lost and fudge it up completely.

Yahooo, I finally S-ranked Samurai Blue (Ouendan II, the one with with cellphone-man) with a higher score! It wasn't impossible after all.

It took me two hours to do it, one session of 1,5 hours and one half hour, both of which took place around twelve o'clock at night.

Yes I'm crazy.
